Now i've got the 2.5v6 i'm thinking of a tourer for next year so what should i look out for and what's a good buy. Will not be used loads and possibly only 2/3 nights at a time?,thanks.

Hi and thanks for the reply, i'm thinking secondhand due to the lack of use it's going to get but budget wise enough to avoid the damp issues and to be honest i don't know what sort of money i should be thinking of paying. Not much use am i ?.

Sorry then Andy, but you could spend anything from £100 to a couple of grand.

Have a look in your local paper, as this is the time of year some people get rid. Also the usual places like Autotrader, EBay, etc.

I'd suggest check out your local dealer/s, See which brands are within convenent travel for you.
Not necessarily advising to buy from a dealer's used stock, but it's worth a look anyway...
If you do buy from a dealer you have a comeback if there is damp or other problems, for a short while at least. If you buy private, it's your look out.

Don't forget the unscrupulous tea leaves possibility for a private buy...
You could always take the caravan ID (VIN) if available and check with HPI if there's a problem. (A cost is involved there, I think,,,)

Also see if there's a private mobile caravan service/repair person that covers your area - could be cheaper!

Finally, caravanning has taken off this year. My local two dealers have vastly reduced used stock available. Unless they are waiting for the 2010 models to arrive...

We just got back into caravanning this summer after a gap of several years. Found the same problem when we were looking for a van - most dealers had only small stock and they were selling like hot cakes. Eventually found one that matched both our needs and the capabilities of the TD4...

... mind you, with the miserable summer most of us had, there will probably be some bargains available now!

Not at my loc al dealers - yet!
Went to the NEC show recently and new vans were selling fast.
I think you'll be getting some used ones trading into dealers in around 2-3 months....

i have been caravaning for 4 years and am only 33 and take 3 kids so i have a 6 berth 2008 bailey ranger with 3 fixed bunks.the worst thing is making up the bed twice a day, it is a ball ache.so,if there is only 2 of you either go for a fixed bed or a model with a large bed at the rear that you can make up and leave,then you have the best of both worlds.hope this helps.
