OCTOBER 2009 UPDATE – FLC NORTH WEST
PIECE HALL, HALIFAX: Sunday 4th of October. Traditionally organised by our friends from the NorthEast, this event has taken place over a number of years and is a great gathering of souls. Talk to NorthEast Mark on 07775 708504 for further details and information about stand passes.
A DAY BY THE SEASIDE: A new location for our series of days out and a special treat for all – being organised by our new Fylde Coast quartet. We meet on Saturday, 17th of October at the Tesco (Clifton) Express car park (FY4 4UJ) just at the end of the M55 for 12:00 noon. Parking up on the south shore we take a tram ride in to Blackpool to sample the Golden Mile and its attractions. Finally returning, we drive in convoy up the Golden Mile through the famous illuminations, ending with a Fish’n’Chip supper early evening in Bispham. A great day out for everybody, book this date in your diary.
LAKE DISTRICT OFF-ROADING: Sunday, 25th October. Not to be missed, this special day in the Lake District is organised by Lakeland Dave. These event are meticulously planned and extremely satisfying. We meet at Newby Bridge fuel station at 9:00am and don't be late! Bring a packed lunch - no fast food take-aways where David will be taking you! Let David know you will be there on 07999 807850.
PENDLE DAY OUT: Saturday, 21st November. Back to our roots for this one as we start at LR Hillendale for a tour of the showroom and workshop before we head off to the Prince William on Grane Moor for a keenly-priced carvery. The afternoon is still to be planned but will be either a green lane or off-road experience. More details as they become available.
CHRISTMAS DINNER: Tuesday 15th December sees us all at the Tavern Fayre for our annual Christmas Meal. I will be unveiling the arrangements and taking deposits from the next meeting onwards.
A CHRISTMAS DAY OUT: Because of the extended Christmas break, we thought it might be a good idea to fill some of the festive period with some Freelander time. If you are at a loose end, tired of the repeats on TV, and in need of some fresh air; then join us on Sunday the 27th of December. Don’t be put off by any snow, sleet, or ice – the Freelander loves these! We are going to visit the Peak District. Meet at Tesco Extra (SK1 2BT) at 10:30am just off J27 of the M60 circular motorway. We will head off for a journey round some very beautiful countryside. Hope to see you there.
LOOKING AHEAD INTO 2010: We plan ahead into the New Year already. As always, I welcome your input and suggestions for destinations and content. We are repeating some of last year’s favourites, restyling some of last year’s events and introducing some completely new events. For the first three events we go on an off road day, we visit the Lake District and also a long-awaited return to North Wales. Rest assured that there will be plenty for all desires and tastes. 2010 is going to be another busy year for FLC North West!
