Title: Hello All

Hi Everyone,
I have just been accepted to the group. Last week when I applied to join
the group, I was just thinking about getting a Freelander. There were lots of people
saying don't buy one and some saying they were great, with no problems. Even though there were some bad points I just couldn't get over how much I liked their
shape. Anyway have just bought one, and pick it up on Saturday. I got it from a car dealer because I wanted some sort waranty. It is a W reg diesel with leather seats
and all the trimmings. They said I would be able to pick it up today, but their pre delivery check revealed that the sun roof was not working so have ordered a new motor from Land Rover, they are also going to service it. It has got Land Rover history up until this service. I am pleased to have found this group and look forward to chatting with you in the future.
Regards, Jeff

Greetings and welcome. What have you got? TD4? 1.8 Petrol? EXDi? Sounds like a nice motor. Let us know what model you have and we can spatter you with Info.

Hi Mr Punch, Sorry about the 2 posts couldn't get rid of the other one. It's great to be on here. It is a XE DI model. Any information would be helpful.

Looks like E's X's D's and I's muddled up. They are quite a reliable engine and robust with it. They say you can run em on chip fat as well. The XE Di was slightly under powered but economical with it though. You'll be fine with it.
The usual issues you get with Freelander is the VCU, IRD, carrier bearings, leaky rear door seal and iffy sun roofs but apart from that they're fine. Up until four months ago, my motor used to make regular trips in to Ireland with no problems.
Good luck with it, you have fun.

Thanks again Punch,
It did feel great to drive and yes it did feel a little underpowered ,
I made the mistake of going into 5th gear too early. But I must admit, it's the looks
I like and as you say good on fuel. I look forward to bringing it home on Saturday from Poole to West London. Another thing I noticed every time I rang up about an advert, I was told that it had just been sold. A lot of people were Polish and were sending them back to Poland, so they must like them.
Thanks, Jeff
