Title: Driffield
KTM Gordo - May 7, 2009 12:17 PM (GMT)
I believe it's the Driffield LRO Show this weekend - anyone going to it?
Is it worth the long-haul up to Yorkshire?
MRSYABS - May 7, 2009 08:14 PM (GMT)
We are going up in the Disco, but we will pop over to the stand to say hello.
Regards
Donna

See you there on Sunday Paul.
Had a natter with Ian and Conner at Ferrybridge this afternoon, then saw Marty on his way to meet them.

Did anyone from the FLC stand take their cars round the offroad course?
KTM Gordo - May 11, 2009 03:09 PM (GMT)
Well I went to Driffield and was surprised to see that, despite the lack of posts on the forum, there was a sizable presence from the Freelander Club. I assume attendance was by invitation only?
Elsewhere the show was a bit disappointing - lots of jumble, lots of Land Rovers, a few trade stands... But I can't say I was all that enthused by it.
I did buy a couple of things, and chatted to one of the 4x4 Response groups (I've been in the process of joining my local one since February - and I'm still not 'in' yet!).
Not sure it was really worth the journey :( Is the Peterborough one bigger / better?

Hang on a minute ... whats that "sticky" topic at the top of the 'Shows and Events' section ... oh yes! ... "2008 Show and Event Dates". I wonder if the Driffield event is listed? ... my word - so it is - even has a Freelander 2 symbol. I wonder what that means?? ... ah - it says at the bottom of the page - Freelander 2 symbol signifies Club Stand will be present at show. Well I never ;) :D

I had a blast as well, glad we did the offroad it really "made" the whole weekend. All the shows have their own "character", personally I think Driffield is one of the best shows along with Eastnor but prefer Peterboro's offroad course even though it eats TD4 alternators.

Can we have a update events program ????????? [drve]
mr and mrs hobson - May 12, 2009 08:45 AM (GMT)
you can have an update as long as your part of the CLICK LOL
and as long as your hippo remains nice and sparkly clean.
KTM Gordo - May 12, 2009 11:47 AM (GMT)
So if the club stand is present at a show, how do you get your Freelander on to it?
Seeing as Peterborough is only just up the road from me, it would be the easiest one to show off my Freelander at.
Those of us who are new to the club don't know the way these things work :)
mr and mrs hobson - May 12, 2009 03:37 PM (GMT)
to get on the stand you must join the CLICK :ph43r:

Which is what I was implying when I asked if it was "invitation only"! ;)
I'm not meaning to create waves, but it would be nice if the club could be a bit more inclusive
mr and mrs hobson - May 13, 2009 02:54 PM (GMT)
sorry having a blond moment then.
for these reasons i joined the mad hippo lot.
they post on there site and every one is welcome on the stand! (as long as not polished!) lol
I know a few people who have mentioned the "click" and they have joined various other clubs or been put off the club scene.
So come on guys lets start advertising abit more please.
alienbob5050 - May 14, 2009 12:16 PM (GMT)
yeh the same reason i joined mad hippo club ive been a member of freelander club for nearly 2 years .
ive been on 1 day out with dmc in the lakes it was really good day out he was great at organising the event !!!!!!!!!!! he isnt even my area rep and he still welcomed us for the day cant wait for the next 1 he organises

Your right Mr & Mrs H. You do have to join the 'CLICK'
Its called paying your £15 and joining the Freelander Club. You receive a FREELANDERING Mag every quarter which has an upto date events list and for those paid up members they should contact their LAR's or the events Officer.
I note a few comments on this posting are from non members, maybe you should consider joining.............
