Title: Roof Racks

BlackMagic - November 9, 2008 06:31 PM (GMT)
Hi,

I have been looking a fixed racks for my five door freelander but am having trouble finding out prices for 2 racks. Hannibal Rack HR07 and the Safety Devices Rack.

Anyone who has these already it would be great to know the prices before I call any suppiers!

I don't think safety devices racks are available new any more, although they do come up from time to time on ebay.

Hannibal racks are expensive (about £600 new last time I saw a price advertised), but are extremely high quality. I scored mine off ebay at a bargain price, but I've not seen another Hannibal FL rack on there. In fact, I've not seen another hannibal rack on a FL full stop.

Try Devon 4x4 or Nene Overland for a price.

Safety Devices are no longer trading but about 6 weeks ago I saw some G4 Freelander racks on e bay which are basically Safety Devices racks with a few little extras, not sure if there are any left though.

Thanks for the replies so far, I will keep checking eBay and see if one pops up on there.

Has anyone got the Land Rover Expedition rack, these look to sit quite high but I would not have to leave the rack fitted constantly then?

Here's a pic of the expedition rack fitted to a 5 door:

They do sit very high (being mounted on top of the roof bars), and also quite far forward.

Personally, I prefer the look of a full length rack. I think that with the aggro involved in fitting/ removing the rack, you'd probably find you leave it on (or off!) all the time ;)
