Title: Freelander Braking System

Nick - September 9, 2008 12:11 AM (GMT)
I hope someone can help. My 1.8 1998 petrol freelander goes just fine and is a great motor but while coming home through lanes today i had to hit the brakes pretty quick. Although she pulled up really well, i felt the brake pedal go slack and judder quite a bit under my foot. Im presuming this is the ABS kicking in but have never felt this on other vehicles. i Havent owned her long and wondered if this happens to anyone else. If not has anyone got any ideas as to what it could be. Thanks, in advance, for your time in answering. Cheers, Nick.

Sounds like the ABS doing just what its' supposed to do. It works by rapidly pulsing the brakes, which is felt as a juddering through the pedal. No need to worry.

Doing everything that it should do.
Don't worry.
