Title: Caravan Corner
Description: A Forum for Touring Caravan owners!
southendmike - August 27, 2008 05:01 AM (GMT)
About 15 years ago, we gave up Caravanning after I had several operations on my neck (the bolts on each side don't show now!). :(
We've decided to take the towing plunge again as we've found that to rent a cottage for a week or fortnight that will allow us to take our small dog is becoming more difficult year by year.
A Forum Search shows that there may be a few caravanners in the FLC, so wonder if we may have a small corner of the Forum for our particular needs and discussions?
For example, I've never towed with a Freebie before, and certainly not a vehicle with 4WD capability. What advantages/pitfalls are there to take note of? How does the "button" on the Gear Lever work?
I fitted the Towbar and 12N/12S sockets last weekend and we are raring to go when I pick up the 'van next week!
Any thoughts or comments?
Regards to all.

HI. the freelander is a good tow car and there is no pitfalls towing with them that i know of offhand ,i'ave had my td4 for allmost a year now and use it mainly for towing my caravan and have just done over 2 thousand miles trip to france and back with it and getting around 33 to the gallon towing the caravan ,the button on the gear lever is the hill descent control and works on 1st and reverse gear is use'd for fail'd hill climb's etc when your off roading your freelander ,have a look in the owners handbook to see how it works if you have one

Camping section was (is) available under the old Yahoo groups.
As the main Freelander section is being diverted here, perhaps a 'camping' section is indeed appropriate.

Why not change the name of this section to "Tow car corner", that would at least imply it's about the Freelander rather than the rolling road block being dragged along behind
