Title: Abingdon 4x4 Festival
Description: Anyone going?
KTM Gordo - August 17, 2008 08:01 PM (GMT)
A friend has suggested that I take the Freebie to the Abingdon 4x4 Festival in September, and that the off road course will be suitable for an unmodified one.
Has anyone been? Is anyone going? What should I expect?

Hi
This year me and the family are going, my old man has a Pajero and goes every year and has said the only thing we will need to worry about is if you have a Tow bar fitted as the electrics will no doubt get bent but everything else should be ok, apparently there is parts of the track that is suitable for freelanders so we should be ok, it better be anyhow as it took me ages to get the missus to let me take our landy, lol.
We have booked for the whole weekend, looking forward to it!!

Abingdon is great fun and, yes, it should be within the scope of a standard vehicle - unless it rains, in which case all bets are off :) There will be harder sections that are really only suitable for tricked up machines on big aggressive tyres, but these are well marked and marshalled.
I'll be there this year as always. I was Clerk of the Course for this event for four years, although I've retired now and am merely a humble marshal :)

Glad to see I won't be alone then :)
Must fit my club sticker and dig out my T-shirt too...

We are thinking of going to Abingdon Festival as we can't get to the LRO show this year (pants :( ).
I am still trying to persuade him indoors to book a go on the off-road course, seeming as that is the main point of going for me!!
I am hoping the experienced helpers will be patient with a newbie/novice!!
Is anyone else caravanning there?
Can't wait... [drve]

I'll be in a tent, if that counts. And I'm a newbie to driving off road too. Freelander Club T-shirt has been put on stand-by...

Ahh, I haven't got the T-shirt yet.
I am hoping the Freelander Club will have a stand there, where I can squander some money!
Gald to hear I won't be the only newbie, I don't want to put my lovely freelander to shame!

I believe we may have a presence at Abingdon :)
