Hello all. I'm the very proud owner of a '98 2.0ltr Diesel XEDi. I made the foolish eror of purchasing from E-Bay and found to my cost that it was a bit of a dog and the first problem found was the tell tail resistance and unusual tread wear in the tyres. Not wanting to destroy the IRD I followed Land Rover Owners International advice and removed the prop shaft and imediatley noticed an improvement. I have sought advice from Ashcroft Transmissions who tell me that the fault is with the output ratio of the IRD unitwhich means the VCU is constantly operating and causing excessive wind up. Now, on to the question..... Do any of you know if the facelift model had a modified output ratio ordoes the same prblem haunt all models upto the Freelander 2. I would happliy spend money on a new VCU if i knew that a, - The IRD was still servicable and b, - How long before a new VCU fails again. Thanks for your patience. Any help for this future member would be very gratefully recieved.
Cheers.
