Hi guys,
I have an 04 plate 5 dr freelander, 1.8 petrol...
I've had the car since January with no problems, but as of this weekend the amber 'engine malfunction (MIL)' light has lit up (left side of tacho), accompanied by a jerking motion when I press down the accelerator.
Obviously have it booked in to be serviced now, but wondering if anyone could shed any more light as to what the problem will be???
Thanks in advance,
Al
i had a problem with petrol engined 1.8 the jerking was severe tho ..as if the engine was cutting out then miss firing... that was down to the throttle sensor, as for the amber light mines been on and off for a while (bout 3 weeks) its not affected the car yet but i know its long overdue on the service
Thanks BB,
I'm certainly no mechanic, but was wondering whether the jerking motion a problem with fuel injection, throttle or even a bad tank of fuel...
Hopefully it's the same as you...
Cheers
few years ago i had a rover 25 1.4 k series whilst holidaying in cornwall same thing engine warning light jerking called the AA out and they have four coils under rocker cover and they were a bit of a problem mine was at low revs so he changed the coil over so the miss was at high revs they are made in spain so siesta time me thinks hope this helps don't think its mega bucks
