Knight and Electra were flying above the Spine. They were looking for a shade named Calibur. Galbatoix would've came here if he wasn't such a baby! Instead he sends his dragon's son and his rider to do it. How pathetic!

Azura and I were out searching for food, me is hard here in the Spine, but for Azura it was quite easy. I had a sword in my right hand and a satchel in my other. Azura are you ready to go? I asked as I finished plucking berries. But, there was no answer from him. Azura? I yelled. Then he landed roughly behind me, Why didn't you answer me? As I kept asking him. Azura looked up, but I saw nothing.

Knight flew over Azura and Katelin; his red underbelly scales twinkled in the sunlight. He banked to the left and kept searching.
"Where is he?" Electra asked.
I don't know Knight answered.

I stood there looking at Azura, then I walked to him. Azura crouched down as I mounted him. Lets' go, he said lifted his large wings in the air and thrashing them at his side. Lifting his back legs he leaped in the air gliding over Knight and Electra.

Knight hissed, he snapped his wings shut and turned into a sharp dive.

Loud beats roared from Azura's wings as he flew, Why are we leaving? I asked.
It's for the best, he answered scouting across the Spine. I crossed my arms and glared. I know what your doing, I can feel your emotions, fears, and strength. We're one.
I know, how dumb do you think I am?
I will not make an input.
Good, 'cause I was hoping for that. Azura dived down lowering close to the Spine. Looking down he saw nothing. Thrashing his wings at his sides, his nose pointed up as Azura dived up higher in the sky.

Now they were in the trees, easily doging them. That's when they found Calibur.

Why are we so high up? I wasn't finished and neither were you, I yelled.
Like I said, It's for the best of our lives. I rolled my eyes and uncrossed my arms looking down into the trees. I spotted movement down below. Pointing down I asked.
What's that?

Electra jumped down from Knight, in the Ancient Laungage she said, "Peace shade, I am Dragon Rider. We will not harm you. We were sent by Galbatorix to bring you to him."
"Couldn't do it himself could he?" Calibur grumbled. "Fine I'll come with you. But if this is a trick..."
"No it's not a trick. I cannot lie in the Ancient Launguage." she helped Calibur onto Knight and then she jumped onto the saddle. "Go Knight. Gain altitude." Knight snorted and with a loud boom caught an updraft with his wings. He rose higher than Azura, passing them by.
Them! Knight hissed.
"Why are they here? What if they see the shade?" Electra worried.

Azura snarled and hissed, I smiled as Azura dove down as his wings cracked in sound when they lifted in the air and slammed at his sides. Azura's snout pointed up as he lowered with his wings spread out, showing the white membrane, with black at the edges of them. Flapping them Azura gained speed. A cliff came ahead, snapping his large wings Azura dived down in the canyon and turned right flying above the roaring water. This place is to small for you, I stated.
Hold on then, Azura said.

Knight hissed, Well run then. We cannot fight them, not here.
He dove down flying a little lower, then with a gracefull backflip was heading the other way; he gained altitude and was at level with the canyon's edge.
"But we can stall them." Electra said, she turned and took her bow and arrow.

I saw a shadow on the river and looked up in the distance to see a black figure, You must hurry then! Azura snarled and headed down lower into the canyon. Turning a sharp corner, Azura dived up as his wings cracked when they folded out open wide. Azura pounded them at his sides diving down again increasing his speed. A bridge was in front of both of us as I yelled, DIVE! Azura dived under the bridge and flew with the water. Turning with just a thrust of his wings Azura glided over a grassland. Miles up in the sky, Azura and I glided over grasslands and a lake. Can you swim? I asked.
More than you know, Azura said. How long can you hold your breathe?
Pretty long. Azura thrust his wings to his side and dived down into the deep part of the lake. Water spilled up like a cannon hit the water. Water flew in the air and went back down. White spilled in circles where Azura had dived.

Knight hissed, he folded his wings to a sharp dive gaining speed.

Holding my breath, Azura swam lower in the lake, going deeper and deeper. I held on tight to his large, thick neck. The water was cold and kept getting cold as we dived lower, then Azura lifted up near the surface, taking a breath, he dived again.

Then he snapped them open and pulled up from the dive; he had seen Azura.

Azura dived lower once more, diving deeper into the depths, holding my breath I could see a shadow above us.

Knight hissed.

Lower Azura, lower, I said still looking up.
I don't want to go to low one 'cause it gets to cold and for two you won't be able to breathe.
Ok, in the middle then.

Arrows shot out of the spine at Knight. Knight roared at the unseen archers, he had to spin around to where he was flying upside down to avoid any other volley of arrows, which meant Katelin and Azura would be able to see the shade.

I was unable to see anything really, all I saw was a black shadow above the water. I closed my eyes and placed my head on Azura's neck. With a thrash of his wings, Azura's large body burst from the water. Beats and pounds roared from his wings as they thrust at his sides. Smiling I looked down to see a black dragon, with it's red belly.

Knight turned right side up; he tried to dodge more arrows, 2 peirced each wing; he roared out in pain as one went through the muscles.

Azura snarled, diving his head down, thrusting his wings at his sides, Azura dived twisting his body fully making a complete turn. His wings were spread out showing the membrane. Coming to The Spine archers were hidden in the woods and trees of The Spine. Dragons with keen eyesight are able to spot anything. I sat in the crest of Azura's neck, feeling his head arch back. Hovering over The Spine, Azura dived lower, with an instant, Azura's mouth flung open and a breath of fire spewed from his mouth. The fire blew from his gaping mouth onto the victims. Slamming his wings at his sides as he hovered in flight over The Spine, staying in one spot. Fire scorched the trees and some of the land. It rose in the air as Azura kept blowing fire. Thrusting his wings Azura died over the scorched area and flew as his wings beat in the sky. I never knew you could breathe fire, I said astonished.
I always have been able to, there was never a right time to use it.
Why didn't you tell me?
'Cause then you would tell me to use it for stupid reasons!
No... okay maybe yes, but it's awesome that a dragon can breathe fire as it wishes.
No, not all. Some dragons have to consume a certain type of rock to spark their fire.
Aye. I never knew that.
Well, now you do!

Knight kept flying though, even though blood poured from the wound.

Azura twisted his body around, stretching his wings at full length. Gliding underneath Knight, Azura dived up drawing closer to him. Are you hurt? Azura asked Knight with concern.

I will be fine. Knight replied in a reasurring voice.
"Knight! Don't make it to where they can see the shade!" Electra warned.

Astonished by Azura's breath of fire, I slipped to his side. Azura caught me with his wing and talons. Climbing back on I felt an arrow pierce my leg. Yelling in pain, I held onto my leg so the blood won't rush out. Azura felt the pain as well, Letta orya thorna! Azura yelled. Diving down, I grabbed the arrow head and snapped it off. Pulling back, the arrow was released from my leg at once. In anger and no tolerance, Azura snapped his wings at his side and dived lower, with sword in hand at my side, I let Azura handle it this time. Azura's wings shifted to his side as the flared out to a stop. Fire blasted from his mouth once more, scorching the land and archers. As I went to draw my sword, someone jerked my hand back, nearly breaking my arm. I took my bag legs and kicked him in the gut, but that didn't seem to stop him. Azura felt another presence on his back and twisted his body around, shaking the other human off. With not luck the man held on tight, like he was a Dragon Rider himself. Azura landed roughly on the Spine ground standing on his hind quarters. A loud roar drew form his mouth as her turned with his jaws latching on the mans legs throwing him to the ground.

Lifting his wings in the air, ready to take flight, Azura snapped his wings and leaped into the air. But, just in that mere moment, the man leaped at my side and pulled me off. Feeling the weight being dragged off, Azura felt my presence had left. Gliding above the forest Azura has lost me in sight. Kicking the dirt I scurried to a log. His sword lifted in the air as I dodged it; his sword slammed at my side with the blade directly in front of my face. I took the handle of my sword and jabbed it in his gut. Backing up he held on his gut tightly. As I came forward his foot came from under me, tripping me instantly. My head slammed on a rock that lied under my head. The strange man turned around with his hands on my wrists, holding me down with all his weight. Unable to move or reach my sword I was pinned. "Release me at once!" I yelled. The man held on tight, my sword was in sight as it was almost in reach. Struggling to get it, I looked up at him, his face came into sight. It was Eradar, the rider of Kale the Red Dragon and a murderer. He removed one of his hands from my wrist, also removing his hood with one of his hands pulling it back. We looked at each other eye to eye. "Eradar?" I said softly. He smiled as he lifted off of me. Holding a hand out I grabbed it as I was lifted to a stance.

"Yes, it is I," Eradar replied as he placed his sword back into his belt and handed mine over. Puzzled I looked at him as I grabbed the sword and placed it into my belt. Perplexed and confused I spoke, "I thought you were gone, after that fight."
"Fear not, I will not die. I promised to be there for you when I can. And a promise that I made I shall keep with me," Eradar replied. Stepping back I herd Azura crash land behind me with a snarl and hiss. "Easy now Azura, he's a friend." Trying to calm him down Azura looked down at me, then at Eradar.
I do not trust that boy, he is the rider of a murderer, Azura spoke back with a harsh voice.
I do not care, I can trust him and soon you would to.
His dragon Kale is a murderer. I shall not trust him, for he might be the same as his dragon.
"Is everything all right?" He asked.
"Everything is fine," I replied. Look, just deal with it, he won't be around for long...
Until his dragon comes and tries to kill us both. Do you want that? Azura yelled.
No, I said softly looking down at the ground.
We leave. Now!

Thank gawd they hadn't seen the shade, Electra thought."Come on Knight we have to get out of here."
He nodded and kept flying, even though the arrow in his wing muscle dug in deeper with each move. But Electra couldn't do anything about it. She could not heal injuries, not yet.

Nodding, I went to go mount Azura. Then, a sudden loud roar came beyond the trees. A Red Dragon crash landed behind Eradar, snarling and hissing. Azura snarled as well, but he was a lot larger than Kale was, I see an old for of mine has returned! Kale sneered as Eradar mounted him.
I have only come to do my doing's, for now I have no patience for your taunting, Azura snarled. Stepping back I felt Azura's tense and anger aroused in his muscles and emotion. Go where it's clear and away from here, Azura ordered. Without hesitation I ran out into the woods away from the scene.
Azura, what is going to happen? I asked as I waited behind a rock.
Something that you shouldn't worry about.
I don't want you to die, your my only hope.
Don't worry young one, this will only take a second.
Eradar, dismount now, and kill the woman! Kale ordered his rider.
But, I cannot. She is a friend of mine.
Do it now! Eradar looked at with dismay, and dismounted like asked, running to where I lied. Now, let's finish this!

I herd footsteps coming to my position, huddling my sword to my chest, I slipped it out of my belt. Then, I raced to the edge of the rock, as my blade stood under Eradar's neck. Realizing it was him, I lowered my sword. "Good, it's only you," I said in a breath. Eradar didn't seem surprised though. Grabbing his sword's handle, Eradar lifted his sword and hurled it at me, with a strike I deflected his attack. Confused about his actions, I didn't ask, but fought.

Kale lunged at Azura as Azura swatted him with his paw. Snarling and hissing Kale leaped at Azura's throat as he was on the bare ground. Locking on tight, I felt the grab on Azura's neck and held my own. Eradar's sword came forth and nicked my arm, near the shoulder. Agonizing in pain, I stepped back holding the bleeding wound and kept fighting. Azura cried out in pain as Kale's grip began the clench his throat. Azura snarled and slammed his paw around his throat and ripped his off grabbing the top part of his neck and slamming Kale to the ground. Eradar felt his pain as well. Looking at Eradar now was my chance, I took my sword a jabbed it in his side, listing to his cries. Eradar glared at me and kneed me in the gut, pulling my sword from his side. Kicking him from under the legs I grabbed my sword.

Azura latched his teeth on Kale's spin and pressed him down with his front paws, placing all of his weight on his back. Azura's tail came from under him, tripping him. Kale snorted and rolled over exposing his belly, flipping to the other side. Getting to his limbs, Kale got to h is feet, just feet lower than Azura. Azura snarled brace fully, looking down at Kale. Panting I held onto my wound and sword watching Eradar get up weakly. Kale lunged at Azura as Azura side stepped, leaving Kale crashing into a pile of trees, branches, and veins. As Azura went to go his last bidding, ropes lashed around his neck and legs. Chains where latched on his legs as well, along with his chest and neck. Horns were roped, pulling his head down to the ground. Kale found his chance, and helped by gripping Azura's neck and forcing him to the ground. Eradar smiled and plunged his sword at my side holding my neck with his bare hand. Feeling the cold rush from his hands to my neck. Azura felt the pain as his own and collapsed to the ground as his chest burned like fire.

Kale swerved on the other side of Azura. holding down his neck. Azura winced in pain, as Kale held on tight, reaching to the tendons of his neck. Blood pulsed and bled from the wounds of the punctures in his neck. His legs were tied together at his sides, with a metal cuff on his chest with another on his neck, with two chains linking them together. Chain's ran from his horns to the cuff on his neck. Azura drug his claws in the ground as they tightened the chains and removed the ropes. A loud ear trenching screech roared from Azura's mouth, as I stood clicks away from his spot and still herd the screech. I felt his pain, and crashed to my knees. Clenching to Eradar's pants I looked up at him, then to the ground as blood dripped from the wound that pierced my gut. Azura's eyesight began to weary and blink out. Where is my rider? He asked as he looked all around fro me, but no sight.

Wind brushed against his scales as pain flourished on his sides, neck, joints, and wounds. Azura's mind blanked out as his eyesight became black.

Further down, as I held onto Eradar's pants, my sight became weary, and I to collapsed and was unconscious. For how long, it was unknown. As far as I know, I was far apart from Azura and in mortal danger.

Knight hissed. He had realized something, he had seen the dragon: Kale. We need to help the other Rider and Dragon.
"You mean the red?"
No, the white, black, and grey. And Knight turned around. He landed right in the clearing where the attack on Azura had happened.

Kale, blowing out of proportion, snarled with aggravation and thrashed his tale from side to side violently. Eradar came from the bushes, dragging me from behind. Kale smiled, ignoring Knight and Electra. Never would he back down, this is what he was meant to do. Eradar placed me next to Azura safely. I felt his presence as I was asleep. I could feel his fear, as he could feel my own. Kale then turned his attention to the other dragon and rider.

Electra jumped from Knight's saddle. Her sword drawn instinctively.
Wait, these two could be highly powerful. Knight warned her.
"I'll be fine Knight." Electra replied.
Knight only snarled at her and turned his attention toward Kale.

"I wouldn't if I were you," Eradar sneered. "Kale is a killer of woman, one step and he'll kill you, and that means your dragon will die as well. Don't you know anything, a rider dies, and so does his dragon?" Kale snarled as the sword did not scare him one bit, his rider has one and tried to use it on him once, this time it won't work.
Kale, don't strike... not just yet anyway. Only if she threatens you to far or tries in her wishes to hurt or kill. The can you kill, Eradar spoke to Kale.
Then I will strike when the time is right. Never do woman learn, or other humans, that a dragons is much stronger than they, even in numbers it takes to many to bring one down. If she shall strike I will ripe the sword from hand and tear her heart out, killing her dragon instantly. There off, we have no worries on Dragons and Dragon Riders. Or I can make them suffer in the time being.
Not now though. Wait... wait when ready.
It is I who calls the lead, not a feckless human!
Without me you wouldn't be alive.
Without me you wouldn't be here nor would you be happy for once in your life.
Do put my life in this, just wait until then. If you feel threatened, then do as wish.
Like now! Eradar felt his concern, and knew that anytime that Kale would kill Electra, and with her close to a murderer, Knight would have no stopping him what's so ever. Knight needs Electra to stay alive. Nothing can stop a bond from being torn from death. It is how it is in Alagaësia. Kale smiled at the woman as her sword was held in hand.

Electra stuck the sword's point into the ground where it stood there, and held out her hands palm up, a sign of peace. She was not threatened by the words, but she knew they were true.

Knight hissed, he walked over and crouched beside Electra. Tail thrashing on the ground.

Azura's tail thrashed on the ground violently with I at his side in a deep conscious sleep. Kale sanrled and then looked at Eradar, whom was looking at both Electra and Knight, "Very well, you have chosen wisely. On the other hand, Kale we have work to do."
What is it that a human doesn't fight for what he believes in! Kale joked.
I'm not like you, you fight for a worthy cause, I fight for defense.
Your father did.
Until he died years ago.

Just keep doing what your doing. By no time we'll be home. Azura felt Eradar's presence and hissed. When a dragon is alseep, they can see through their eyes while closed, along with things that are invisable. Azura could see Knight and Electra through Kale's legs. Looking over he saw me resting at his side.

Knight was stubborn though, expected from the son of Shruikan, he bared his teeth in a feral snarl and a low roar escaped him.
"Knight no."
Electra dragons are to help each other, not attack, this is how the riders fell before.

The shade, Calibur, still sat on Knight's saddle completely confused. Knight let out another warning growl.

Kale wasn't going to accept Knight's attitude either. Red Dragons were known to kill humans, woman, elves, and dwarfs. You can keep baring, snarling, and growling at me, but you nor does your right frighten me. I have been fighting dragons and riders like you for years, Kale snarled back. Eradar finished with the chains, letting them loose without Kale knowing. Holding out a serum and a needle, he placed it on my arm and injected it into my blood stream, causing me to awake.
"Hush,"Eradar said. "Get onto your dragon and ride out of here and don't come back."
"What am I to do then?" I asked.
"Anything, but coming back here." I disliked the idea, but it was worth a shot. Moving slightly, I climbed onto Azura's back, falling into the crest of his neck. Azura felt my presence. Snarling and growling, Azura's eyes shot open, revealing the light blue pupils and the rest was black. Getting up with ease, Azura saw both eyes of the dragon and rider follow him as he rose on all four quarters or limbs. Kale turned around to see Azura baring his teeth, snarling in anger.
Now that I am awake, it's time that I finish what you started! Azura barked as he locked his jaws onto Kale's neck throwing him to the ground. A quake rumbled as Kale landed roughly on his back to the ground. Feeling the tension in his muscles, I sat on the crest of his neck with the sword in hand. Kale got up looking up at Azura each way as he rose up. Azura was breathing quite hard, as his chest expanded and contracted every second. Lifting up his right paw Azura stood on two legs, his back legs, and smacked Kale to the ground. Still standing on his hind quarters, Azura let out a loud roar, which made me cover my ears. A boom sounded as his wings shot out from his sides, reaching to where Knight and Electra stood.

Smiling a patted the side of his neck, stroking it afterwards. Your just as powerful as your father was, and will always be better than he was! I said comforting him.
Indeed! Azura agreed to as he stepped back, with his front paws slamming on the forest floor. Trees shook, along with the ones on the ground that bounced once he landed. Eradar lost his balance as the mighty dragon slammed his paws. Azura looked over at Knight and Electra, from then at his point of view he could see the shade. And since the death of Durza, Azura never thought to see another shade again. Snarling at them, Azura bellowed loudly, pulsing with rage. What is that abomination doing here? A shade should always be killed, never should one survive. That's how the last war at the Varden started, along with the time being of a new Dragon Rider, Azura snarled.

Knight had inherited his fatehr's anger, normally it got him in trouble.
You know not of what we are to do,.He hissed
"Knight!"Electra said."WE can explain."She said to Katelin.

Azura snarled, he was not afradif of Knight, being larger than him, he wouldn't. Knight and his father Shrikan Azura does not fear, he fears no one and nothing, I never asked that now did I? Azura glared.
"No!" I yelled. "You don't need to "explain" the reason why there's a shade. And Azura is right about them. It is as good as done."

"Listen." Now it was Electra agitated, "I wouldn't have done it if I had a choice. I had to swear fealty to Galbatorix, he made me and Knight. Otherwise we would've died. He sent me after the shade, I didn't want to, but I did. Unlike Murtagh, my mind was not taking by the dark arts, only my will."
Knight snarled at Azura.

"Galbatorix?" I asked, as Azura snarled and hissed even louder. Azura has always hated that name ever since the Dragon Riders had been killed. "I wouldn't be standing here any longer to see the daughter of a murderer. For all we know you can be just like him as well. You may say your not, but deep down inside your just the same. It's called genetics and genes, they're passed on to the child all the time." Azura bellowed within his throat and gave out a loud dreadful roar. Lifting his wings in the air with a grunt, Azura launched himself in the sky. Wing beats pounding out loud booms sounded as they left.

Kale and Eradar stood with Eradar mounting his dragon. Kale snarled breathless as he got ready to take off. "We are we to go?" Eradar asked.
We are to follow them or go home? Kale said as he looked down at the ground, waiting for his reply.
We follow them.
