Title: "Jones"
Description: 2/28 *Spoilers*

That was a really good episode. The part with Gideon and Reid at the end was perfect. Plus, JJ and the detective :P . I loved it when Reid was smartin' off to Prentiss about the academy. I gotta say not much came out of the rival thing, after all the hype. I still can't believe that it was a woman, but that was an interesting twist. Hasn't happened in the show before. Well. enough rambling for now. :D

I love this show! - March 1, 2007 03:06 AM (GMT)
I’m really curious to know what everyone else thought about this episode. That was Reid’s arch-rival??? I was rather disappointed. (I don’t know if he was taller but he didn’t seem like a genius that would have rivaled Reid and he was NOT better looking!) That was J.J.’s “love interest”???? (I think she could do better!) and I’m still disappointed in the whole Reid part of the story.

Is it just me???

elroy - March 1, 2007 03:09 AM (GMT)
who is the actor that played jj's love interest/ the new orleans cop? anyone catch that?

Yeow - March 1, 2007 03:12 AM (GMT)
His rival was there for like 2 minutes. I do think that he slapped some sense into Reid though. THat was a really good episode btw, really fast paced, I enjoyed it alot

CriminalMindsFan - March 1, 2007 03:12 AM (GMT)
No. It's not just you I Love This Show!. Reid's archrival was rather dissapointing. He wasn't great and they didn't give him as big a part as I thought they would. And JJ could definitely do better. That guy just seemed a little weird to me. I don't know how he just did. And they still didn't get to Reid's drug problem    . They just think he's traumatized. What did everyone else think?

love2teach - March 1, 2007 03:14 AM (GMT)
I want to know who that guy was to. I have seen him in something else I watch, I just cant figure out what.

Diane - March 1, 2007 03:15 AM (GMT)
I thought it was a good episode. I think that whole Reid "archrival" thing was taken out of porportion and everyone made a HUGE deal out it. So, I wasn't disappointed, because I didn't speculate or anything.

So MAYBE, in the next episode the one in April they will address it again, But, who knows.

Like I said, I really liked the episode.

I love this show! - March 1, 2007 03:18 AM (GMT)
I can't decide if they are telling us Reid was ever really addicted to the drugs or not. If he was I kinda think they would have showed him actually using the drugs (for shock value if nothing else) all the "symptoms" they've given him could be for drug use but could also be for post-traumatic-stress so it's a little frustrating that they aren't a little clearer (unless that is intentional) MGG interviews made it sound like his character was using drugs......But the ending seemed to indicate Reid was determined to get back to work (at least that's how I took it.) So now I don't know. I think I just want an answer one way or another. Now we have another few weeks to wonder about this until the next episode?

Yeow - March 1, 2007 03:22 AM (GMT)
I agree with Diane. You guys did blow it out of porportion.. alot. Everyone seems to assume that this is like a Marvel Comic or something and he's going to settle a score once and for all etc etc.. Only this is a crime show.

Josh Stewart. He plays Holt McLaren on Dirt.

LuvSpence - March 1, 2007 03:31 AM (GMT)
All I could think of while watching the show is that guy who played the New Orleans cop would've made a great Gambit. I'm a huge X-Men fan.

I thought Reid's rival was kinda weird. He didn't seem like a genius at all to me. I do agree the whole archrival thing was a bit too hyped up. It wouldn't made more sense for him to be more involved in the case maybe.

It's hard to put all these different story lines in a 45 minute episode. (Damm commercials !!)

I'm glad Gideon had a talk with Reid at the end, it made me tear up, but now I have even more questions than before. I'm sure Reid has probably taken the drugs, but I really want to know and I want the team to help him out. I can't believe we have to wait a whole month or so before a new episode. UGH!!!!!!

Yeow - March 1, 2007 03:36 AM (GMT)
What are they taking the break for, to film more episodes?

LuvSpence - March 1, 2007 03:38 AM (GMT)
I believe it's for the college basketball playoffs because they're on CBS.

I think that's a lot of what bothers me.....I don't feel like they are completing any storyline because they've got too many to touch on.

LuvSpence - March 1, 2007 03:42 AM (GMT)
It's probably pretty hard to do an episode like this one where it's a complicated case and in order for it not to be too much of an easy solution, they need to drag it out as much as possible, but then they have to fit the whole Reid situation and now the JJ love interest type of thing in there too.

There's just not enough minutes.

CriminalMindsFan - March 1, 2007 03:43 AM (GMT)
Yeah, they try to cram a little of everyone in too short a time. They should set aside some more time for Reid in the next few episodes. :)

LuvSpence - March 1, 2007 03:45 AM (GMT)
I agree. Need more Reid time! But then people would probably complain there's too much Reid.

They need to have like 2 hour episodes each week. That would be heavenly!

I love this show! - March 1, 2007 03:46 AM (GMT)
I just think it's weird the way the writers are dragging it out. I'm beginning to feel sorry for fans of the show who aren't particularly Reid fans......Reid's been front and center for quite awhile now. But it seems so complicated to work in a new story without ending this one first (because we end up back at the too much story/not enough time problem which really ends up taking away from the cases they are trying to solve.) I just don't understand it. Don't get me wrong....still love the show - I've just been rather confused the last few episodes.

CriminalMindsFan - March 1, 2007 03:47 AM (GMT)
Yeah true, same here. BTW LuvSpence, that would make a great chant. "Need more Reid!" "Need more Reid" Need more Reid!" :D Wow I'm crazy.

I love this show! - March 1, 2007 03:48 AM (GMT)
Maybe that can be our next campaign...."need more Reid" instead of "save Reid" (I'm sure someone out there is saying NO!) :D

CriminalMindsFan - March 1, 2007 03:51 AM (GMT)
lol. I'll start making a new banner right now. ---Posts and walks to other computer with Photoshop on it and starts to mill around--- :D :D :D

Diane - March 1, 2007 03:59 AM (GMT)
Okay, I am a fan of Reid, but I knooow, that this show is not about him, so I'm not going to go all "omg, I hope they talk about Reid centric."It's not the Spencer Reid show.

So I have really liked the episodes thus far.

Sorry, for sounding errr, whatever word to use for this.

I love this show! - March 1, 2007 04:01 AM (GMT)
exactly Diane...that's why I'm surprised they haven't put an end to this Reid storyline by now. Reid is my favorite but I think it's time to let him take a backseat.

LuvSpence - March 1, 2007 04:02 AM (GMT)
I think Reid is such an interesting guy, he could have a whole tv series just about him if they wanted.

OMG! That would be freakin awesome!!!

heheheheee

livia - March 1, 2007 04:02 AM (GMT)

I think, as far as getting into criminals minds, that this episode was excellent. The case was different; there were plenty of clues to solve, and many a thing for the team to aces. But when it came to character development, NOTHING.

Sure, there was that tiny moment at the end with Gideon and Reid, but did it really do anything? It just seems like every time Reid talks to someone about his problems people ask him the same questions as the last person did….and he answers the same way.

I really love Criminal Minds, and yes, the cases are always interesting, but the plot under the plot is starting to repeat…

Very sad…
:(

Diane - March 1, 2007 04:07 AM (GMT)
From what I've learned in TV shows, not every episode is not going to have "character development." Yes, especially in the world of Criminal Minds. The writers will add character development when they want to, or when they NEED too.

I'm different when it comes to shows, I don't analyze, I accept the show for what it is. I'm in it to be entertained.

So kudos to this episode, I really liked it.

Oh another thing.lol. To me, in my favorite shows, there's no such thing as a bad episode. It might sound odd to people, but that's the truth.

I don't know what I mean. They are ALL very entertaining, and I love love love love love love love watching them. But you're never a teenie bit disappointed? I don't know..it's not worth arguing about...

Yes, I did like this episode.

Heyyy, to answer your question, nope I'm never disappointed :)

More like:

There aren't any bad episodes of Criminal minds. Some are just better then others.

anyway...

Am I allowed to be confussed?

I mean on one end you hav Ethan. I was so dissapointed with Ethan. He was far from hot and didn't seem like much of a genius!

But yeah, you have Ethan. Ethan goes on this rant about this Genuis that did of cancer that just happened to be hooked on Heroin. Then basicly tells Reid that it's obviouse he's using.

Yet, I'm still not sure he's using.

I need more time to think about this.

Case wise was Great. I loved it! I mean, I never saw the woman plot twist comming.

Diane - March 1, 2007 04:50 AM (GMT)
I think the writers love playing mind games with us.LOL :D

Danceprincess - I'm confused too. Then you have Gideon (the best profiler in the business for 30 years) who "knows something is going on" and thinks "Reid isn't too hard to profile" (and can figure out where to find him in New Orleans) but can't tell if he's using drugs? (ummm.......if he suspected it don't you think he'd march Reid's un-happy self to rehab immediately?) So the only possible scenario I can think of (which doesn't really make sense to me) is the team doesn't have any idea Tobias ever gave him drugs so they don't know Reid is taking drugs (so they aren't too good at profiling someone they are close to) and Reid is completely denying it to himself so now even though he wants to do his job again.....maybe he'll find out he can't because he's addicted?????

Diane.... I, well..... I love this show! Of course I find every episode entertaining but how can you not find some episodes better than others?

In my opinion (which means nothing) "profiling" the episodes is half of the fun! I'm not one to read too much into things but as you say "the writers like playing mind games with us" well, what's wrong with that? That's why I love this forum.....such a great place to discuss what those crazy writers are doing to us! :D

CriminalMindsFan - March 1, 2007 02:08 PM (GMT)
lol. :D Exactly, and according to Jill (beaglebabes) they read this stuff so they can see their torment at work. :D Yeah, I have no idea how Gideon didn't catch that after 30 years of expeience <_< . BTW I love to "profile" the epiodes. :)

lfleia - March 1, 2007 04:18 PM (GMT)
I'm offically going to stop reading eppy info before watching the show. The rival did dissapoint me, he didn't seem like that much of a genius at all, and there weren't really any "startling consequences" like the episode info alluded to. And JJ can do way better.

Good episode though, I recall someone calling that it would be a woman in the other discussion thread before the episode. I was kinda on the girls side..... That statement doesn't totally sound right. I mean, I could completely understand her, although I believe a lot of her victims didn't deserve that.

ME!!! :D -- I said the Unsub would be female based on victimology! :D ...Sorry, I was just so pleased with myself for profiling that bit correctly

I liked the episode overall, I wish they'd done a bit more with the rival but I almost liked that it was understated AND the rival's the one that initially calls Reid directly on the drug use and tells him that everyone knows, whether they're saying it or not.

My favorite parts:

Reid smacks down Prentiss in the beginning - she was just trying to be friendly a la Morgan (bit tease-y, but still nice) and Reid snaps, it just struck me as funny.

When I knew I was right about the Unsubs gender

The New Orleans cop - he was a sweetie :) - and his "thing" with J.J.

When Reid pops up and startles Ethan (the rival) - very sneaky Reid :D

The end with Reid and Gideon - looks like Reid may be on his way to a healthier self :)

Mt. Suz - March 1, 2007 05:16 PM (GMT)
 I really, really loved this episode. It just felt right to me. I need to go back and watch it again to pick out fav parts, but like that Reid seemed more like Reid. Not completely, but still.......Thought J.J. and the cop were cute. Loved the ending of course. Surprised that the drug thing was not clearified more. I do think the writers are messing with us. <_< But that's ok too. More Hotch would have been nice.
I thought the rival was only ok. Not anything like I expected. And according to the spoilers he was supposed to make Reid "confront his addiction." All I could see was a confronting of whether Reid wanted to stay in the FBI. No one confronted his addiction. Except maybe that little bit where the rival said something about anyone could tell he wasn't healthy.
Anyways I'm VERY happy with the show over all. Ok way to go into the new CM's less month. :(

ac5000 - March 1, 2007 05:21 PM (GMT)
i thought this eppy needed more Reid, and im one of those ppl who doesn't like too much one character attention. I thought the central plot was pretty good, but man, JJ can do so much better than that guy. I wonder how they're going to keep him in there. I felt kinda bad for Prentiss though.
