Title: Jones
Description: Next episode

WinterRunnin - February 24, 2007 12:25 AM (GMT)
SPOILER: (courtesy of TV.com) A case involving a serial killer believed to be copying Jack the Ripper takes Gideon to New Orleans after three victims are found with their throats cut. Once thought to have been killed in Hurricane Katrina, the discovery of a fourth victim in the French Quarter confirms the murderer is still alive. All the evidence and files had been lost in the flood, so the only clue the team has is the word "Jones" that the lead detective wrote on the wall just before he drowned. Meanwhile, Reid meets up with an old rival as he continues to struggle with the aftermath of being held hostage.

So there taking on a modern Jack the Ripper. can't wait!!!

Jones:

Slang

1. Heroin.

2. An addiction, especially to heroin.

Keeping up with the Joneses:

Phrase

1. Refers to the desire to be seen as as good as one's neighbours or contemporaries using comparative benchmarks

2. Trying to match the lifestyle of one's more affluent neighbors or acquaintances.

I love this show! - February 24, 2007 01:30 AM (GMT)
I still don't like the "chance meeting with an old archrival forces him to confront his addiction - with startling consequences" quote.

I can't decide if that's going to be a good thing or really, really bad thing!

Mt. Suz - February 24, 2007 03:39 AM (GMT)
Possible spoiler discussion.

And how does all this play in with them trying to find a "Jack the Ripper" type?? And how does Reid come across his old rival while on a case?? And how does that make him confront his addiction??..... I can't even get into the "startling consequences" part.

danceprincess444 - February 24, 2007 04:49 AM (GMT)
the word "startaling" just doesn't sound good in that pharasing.

More spoilers (it's defently been posted before):

Rivals name is Ethan. He is an old rival from school and Him and Reid trained togeather for the FBI but he droped out to become a musician.

He is 1 IQ Point (I don't even think that is signifacant) higher then Reid and is suposedly better looking then Reid. Yeah. sure.

Better looking? Yeah, I find that hard to believe. Plus, like would Reid even have paid attention to this guy being better looking than he is? I don't thnk that would have been a big concern for Reid. And one point higher IQ does seem minimal, but my friends and I used to be very competitive about stuff like that. My friend Scott had a slightly higher IQ than I did, but I got the higher SAT score. Really ticked him off. And I have seen that kind of competition about the honors kids that I taught. They pay attention to every little point, even though the significance of the difference is minimal to none. I have even seen kids count how many red marks they got on an essay and compare. Competition among the top few percents of a class can be brutal, even when they are good friends. I once saw a kid go into a panic attack because a friend got a higher score on a test. That was weird.

Of course then there was the really brilliant kid I had who smoked weed all the time and had bad grades because he refused to do homework but then got a near perfect score on his ACT. The kids laughed that if he hadn't smoked so much weed, he would have gotten a perfect score.

He's a doctor now and apparently not smokng weed anymore (lucky for his patients).

Oops. I meant among the honors kids....too late at night here after a long day.

CriminalMindsFan - February 24, 2007 03:35 PM (GMT)
Yeah, at our school it's a lot like that. I'm in an advanced Algebra class and you can always tell what someone got on a test by looking around. If they did good they walk around showing it off and if they did bad they slink down in their chairs. Plus. whats all this better looking than Reid thing, thats just about impossible in the real world, maybe it could be true in someone's dreams.

P.S. I love this show!, that is probably the best banner I've ever seen in my life!!! :) You've inspired me to make another Reid banner which I'll hopefully have by the end of the weekend because I have other stuff to do but I can't go outside. ( Stupid Snowstorm  )

I love this show! - February 24, 2007 03:38 PM (GMT)
thank you....I couldn't sleep this morning (and yet I was feeling quite creative in my near-coma state) :D

Okay, they have the promo up at Youtube, and apparently, Gideon said if I heard correctly, that the reason the person is copying Jack The Ripper is because in some ways he has lost his identity.

I guess that's also tied with Reid. He doesn't know who he is anymore.

Interesting parallel you're pointing out. But very painful to watch. Especially for those that really care about Reid and want him back. It would be easier if we knew they weren't going to destroy him.......never to return to anything like he was before. Makes it harder for me to follow and enjoy the rest of the episode.

Tooks - February 24, 2007 07:11 PM (GMT)
I just watched the promo and yes, Diane, that's exactly what Gideon says - the Unsub identifies with Jack the Ripper because he's lost his own identity - and I agree with you that it echoes Reids own issues.

Here's the thing - my hope, if you will - just because you lose who you are for a period of time doesn't mean you can't get back on track. It certainly isn't easy, but with help and dedication it can be done.

...After watching the promo I'd like to point out some other interesting things I noticed.

1) The Unsub seems to be killing men exculsively (there are cries from a male, they show a male victim, and the letter they read says "another will so get what HE deserves"

2) Because of the first point the Unsub could be female

I'd also like to note that I find it unlikely that the "terrifying twist" is that the Unsub leaves notes in thw victims mouths - one because Jack the Ripper himself wrote a note and sent it to the police (along with half a human liver) and, as unnerving as the Unsub leaving notes in the victims mouths may be, I doubt that quailfies as "terrifying"

Mt. Suz - February 24, 2007 09:33 PM (GMT)
Spoilers???

:o :o :o :o :o

So now we have :

"Startling Conquences"

"Possible Lost Identity"

"Terrifyling Twist"

"Goodlooking Rival"

"Likely Drug use"

........................Anything else to add??

:o  :o

And FOUR DAYS til Wednesday??

I love this show! - February 24, 2007 10:02 PM (GMT)
Sheeesh! I think Reid going to be having a really bad day! What else can happen to him? :(

Diane - February 24, 2007 10:58 PM (GMT)
I think we should wait until the episode airs, than make our conclusion! I have never seen so many people freaked out! LOL. But I shouldn't talk, I do the samething with my fav characters also.

I believe the storyline will rap up on Wednesday. I seriously think that Reid is going to have one hell of a break down.

CriminalMindsFan - February 24, 2007 11:48 PM (GMT)
If anything bad would happen, it would just be devestating to so many people. I mean, I wish the writers would read this kind of stuff. They seem to take their own paths without consideration of the viewers. ---rambles about bad writers---. Well to wrap it all up, HEAL REID (emotionally and physically).

P.S. Finally got my banner done I love this show!, thanks for the creative inspiration! :D

I love this show! - February 25, 2007 12:39 AM (GMT)
Nice one! :D (And I certainly hope Reid does "overcome")

Tooks - February 25, 2007 01:07 AM (GMT)
I get the since that if the Reid problems aren't fixed by the end of the next episode it will be directly after that:

To explain more there will be mild SPOILERS coming up...

----------------------------------------------------

There is a break between the next episode, "Jones", and the one after it, "Ashes and Dust", of approximately one month ("Ashes and Dust" is said to air April 11th) so my guess is if Reid isn't "fixed" by the end of "Jones" there will at least be the sending away of Reid to get better and then he will return in "Ashes and Dust" (a month or so later) clean and sober and in a much better mental state.

I love this show! - February 25, 2007 02:09 AM (GMT)
Just the title "ashes and dust" doesn't sound very hopeful if Reid's problems aren't solved by the next episode.....because that sounds - dead! Is his arch-rival just supposed to be a one-episode thing? (does anybody know?) I haven't been happy with the whole drug thing to start with so I'm hoping they will at least get Reid back to normal (what's normal for Reid anyway) as quickly as possible.

I think I've figured we only have five more new episodes for season two (including "Jones") and we still have to wrap up the psycho that got away with the "psycho with a whistle" (that's not too weird) lady.

They're running out of time to cure Reid if they're going to do it this season (especially at the pace they're going....because they don't seem to be overly concerned with his behavior!)

Tooks - February 25, 2007 02:51 AM (GMT)
You know, it may just take the entire season - which would stink if you ask me  - it may be that he finally hits rock bottom (whatever that may be) and goes off to get better at the season finale and then comes back at the beginning of Season 3 clean, sober, and back to good old Reid.

There's also the fact that not every show title will related to (the Unsub and) Reid - the past few certainly have but maybe not all....maybe :(

Minor Spoiler!!

-----------------------------------

The one after "Ashes and Dust" is named "Honor Among Thieves" - I can't guess how this will relate to Reid or anything until I've seen where "Jones" andn "Ashes and Dust" takes us, but I just thought I'd share the info :)

I love this show! - February 25, 2007 03:08 AM (GMT)
I really hope they don't stretch this out! Just give me back Reid and get on to something else and I'll be happy!

lfleia - February 25, 2007 09:22 PM (GMT)
I think this is exactly what they want. MGG is one of the most adored characters right now, so by keeping up this whole thing, they're keeping all of his fans on edge and watching. Anyone know what the ratings for the last couple of episodes compared to the overall average is?

I love this show! - February 25, 2007 10:59 PM (GMT)
I don't know how accurate ratings would be right now - they would be huge with the superbowl people and then the last couple of episodes CM has run against American Idol (in US anyway) so both of those could effect normal ratings.

I know, I know....it's all for the ratings! But I don't have to like it!

lfleia - February 25, 2007 11:33 PM (GMT)
There is actually a form on CBS.com where you can give feedback for their shows, I posted it on one of the other episodes forums on here before I was a member, I think it was for the Revelations episode. If enough people send forms, I'm sure it'll be a heavy factor in the writing, and there is a lot of fired up people just in here that can probably get other places they go to aware of it.

It's just a thought for everyone, it not only helps when they surf sites like these, but when the sites come to them too.

danceprincess444 - February 26, 2007 02:59 AM (GMT)
These episodes were filmed a while ago so whats going to happen is going to happen.

T-minus 27 hours over here!

Mt. Suz - February 28, 2007 12:10 AM (GMT)
I'M NOT THINKING ABOUT IT.....I'M NOT THINKING ABOUT IT.....I'M NOT THINKING ABOUT IT......I'M NOT THINKING ABOUT REI.....NO!!......I'M NOT...I'M NOT...
How many hours did you say lfleia???

I want to see what happenes with the "twist" and I want to know what happened to "Jake" and I want to know what happenes with "the note"

and last but not least

what's going to happen to REID!!!! I sooooo want to know!!!!

love2teach - February 28, 2007 03:52 PM (GMT)
Maybe I missed something, but where does it say, the archrival is a guy. Maybe its a girl! That would make it more fun!
:P

ac5000 - February 28, 2007 06:11 PM (GMT)
perhaps this is the guy that JJ will have a little fling with, which makes Reid jealous. I honestly hope that doesn't happen though. It would make it so soap opera-ish. ive got 10 hours to go! super excited!

hmr1126 - February 28, 2007 08:36 PM (GMT)
I absolutely cannot wait to see the episode tonight...unfortunately I told my dad I would pick him up from the airport...and his flight gets in at, you guessed it 9pm!! Ugh...at least we have DVR :) I will just have to watch as soon as I get home!!! Hey, at least I can fast forward through the commercials :)

I'm enjoying all the speculation about what is going to happen with Reid over the next few episodes...I hope the writers are starting down the path to a realistic resolution for Reid's problems!

In an interview MGG says "he" when referring to the rival and it was in a spoiler somewhere that the rival's named is Ethan -- unless the rival's got some gender confusion it's a guy. :D

OMG!!! I just thought of something!!! Wait for it...

I have theory based on the little I know of the episode (from the promo) that the Unsub is, in fact, female...but what if the Unsub has some sort of gender confusion?!? -- In the promo Gideon says the Unsub identifies with Jack the Ripper because "he" (Gideon's word) has lost his own indentiy - but what if the Unsub's also female!!! A gender confused female killer copying Jack the Ripper!!!

...How much longer till the show?

Guest - March 1, 2007 01:21 AM (GMT)
You know you can never really tell these days by a name if its male or female half the time. I know a lady in college whose name was Travis. (Her parents thought she was a boy and never picked out girl names)
