Title: Revelations
Description: 2/7
I love this show! - February 8, 2007 03:03 AM (GMT)
Spoiler alert!!!
I'm furious! That was such a great episode until the ending!!! I can't believe they had Reid taking drugs....and the heroin-type drug too!
Other than that - what an exciting episode! I felt so sorry for J.J. - Reid left her and she felt guilty and Morgan didn't really help.
The father making Reid choose who was to die....and when Reid "chose" Hotch....whoa! (glad they explained that) And what was up with the conversation about Prentiss not having any reaction to anything?
I was glad they brought Garcia into the field.
So many things happened in that episode....I can't even think straight right now!
Rubber_Ducky - February 8, 2007 03:10 AM (GMT)
very good episode! :) SPOILERS BELOW!
the ending dreaded me though Reid took the drugs..bad Reid bad... flashbacks we're cool..but I just can't believe he took the drugs. Gideon will figure him out sooner or later. But ahh they shouldn't have done that..too cliche. <_<
frog786 - February 8, 2007 03:13 AM (GMT)
spoiler!!!
Ok... I had a hard time believing that was his dad, his mom or the young him.... I have no idea why- it just didn't fit for me.
In all honesty when he said Hotch (and I don't mean to sound rude) I laughed- I figured there had to have been something behind it- but at the same time... I thought it was funny that he said him
As for the drugs thing- hopefully this won't last a long time- Gideon and Hotch I believe will be watching him- especially after what happened to Elle.
I don't really think that Reid shrugged off JJ at the end. He said it wasn't her fault and hugged her for quite a bit. But- at the same time- they couldn't just stand there hugging for the rest of the show right?
:( - February 8, 2007 03:17 AM (GMT)
First time poster. I generally don't post on TV message boards, but I needed to vent :) I can't stand this "drug addict angle" they've introduced. there is nothing more cliche in television dramas than making a character become a drug addict. They better get Reid cleaned up fast, because it will be seriously annoying and lame if they drag this out for a long time. If this was a "fresh" character twist, I wouldn't be complaining. But it is soooo played out. If any of the producers/writers read these boards, please kill this ASAP. Thank you.

noo, i'm sure you can watch it somehow or another! hey, CBS might even let you watch it on their website (ABC does that with their shows, and so does NBC.)
either way, a very interesting episode.
i liked it but was deeply offended by the religious thing,. it hurts to see my religion under attack! :P i know they didn't mean it to be that way though.
but the most shwocking part was of course reid stealing the drugs.. a dissapointment!
and *spoiler* on next weeks preview, i didn't see reid there at all.. so i wonder...

What is next weeks episode about? I didn't see the previews.
I love this show! - February 8, 2007 03:47 AM (GMT)
I didn't see the preview either....how did I miss that? Oh yeah, I was screaming at the TV at the time.....something about Reid and drugs! Ahhhh! I still can't believe it!
J.J. - February 8, 2007 03:47 AM (GMT)
Whoa! Lots of posts and soo soon after the airing. I'm with you guys on not turning Reid into an addict (Perhaps they will find out exactly what was in the shot [I'm not that big on 'drug knowledge', but I've heard that some are more potent than others])... It looked more to me like JJ was the one that was totally freaking there for a bit. Morgan seemed a bit insensitive, but on the other hand, he's been that way with Reid so I suppose I shouldn't have been too surprised...
In the end though, I think Reid unknowingly hurt Gideon... It could have been the drugs... A shame that they couldn't have had it so there weren't any vials in his pocket... That might help you Reid fans... In any case, we'll have to wait and see and hope that TPTB actually pay attention to what the fans want to see...
frog786 - February 8, 2007 03:47 AM (GMT)
On the episodes you don't actually see reid- but I'll have to look at screenshots because there was a fast thing where you were looking under the door of a bathroom stall and the person coming in honestly looked like the feet of Reid. So maybe he was going to go shoot up or something.
Kyle - February 8, 2007 03:48 AM (GMT)
*spoiler for next week*
it's about some serial killer who is killing african americans, and they think it's a white racist but it's really another african american. something like that.. it will be interesting lol.
I love this show! - February 8, 2007 03:54 AM (GMT)
I think I will always watch this show but I may seriously have a problem with it if they make Reid into an addict. I don't think he would be my favorite character anymore. Do producers pay attention to sites like this? I hope so and I hope they get the message loud and clear that fans do not want the show to go this way! It would just be such a disappointing turn for such a great character - I don't want to see him be destroyed for ratings.
frog786 - February 8, 2007 03:56 AM (GMT)
I don't really know for sure that they read these boards but I have heard of the director for this show in other shows he has done has read message boards by fans to see what theyre thinking (now that doesn't mean he has to agree- but....).... I think it was the director- regardless it was someone who now works for CM
I love this show! - February 8, 2007 03:59 AM (GMT)
Well if anyone knows where to write to get a message to someone who has something to do with the show please let me know. I would love to voice my opinion about this one!
Reid's Girl - February 8, 2007 04:14 AM (GMT)
while i am a little disapointed that reid took the drugs, and i had a feeling from the first time Tibious shot him up it would steam into a problem for him i think it could take some intresting turns and help us delve deeper into reid's mind

1. welcome!!
and 2. i agree 100%. it was sad to see how his family is.. with no dad, and a depressed mom. :( he must have gone through a lot as a child.

Was it just me- this is what I want to know- he didn't think that any of the childhood stuff well fit- as far as the actors playing them? I thought his mom and dad- well I don't know they just didn't look right. And Spencer looked too dolled up- I just, couldn't see him like that, it was weird.
stomper4x4 - February 8, 2007 05:00 AM (GMT)
Newbie here!
I guess I'm the only one who doesn't mind the drug addict angle...
It is totally an overused TV cliche to make someone a drug addict to explore their character more...but...I dunno...I think I might like it on Reid. Imagine the new secretiveness he'll have, etc.
Also, he took the vials in a moment of weakness, right? So he might just spend the next few episodes staring at the vials in his desk, torturing himself over the illogic of his craving for them.
I really liked this episode, and loved the look back at his childhood.

I thought the dad was weird. I love the lady that plays his mom! I think she's great. And the kid that played young spencer really kind of looked like him. So I liked the childhood scenes of Reid - sad but I thought they were played well.
Special Agent Jentzer - February 8, 2007 05:24 AM (GMT)
i didn't see the credits, but it is his mom from fisher king is it not....(same lady jane lynch)
ouch that whole feet thing...ouch ouch...oh boy dr reid
really loved "i'm not weak" as a youngster...yes oh boy dr reid
and really (i said i would try, but really) what is with prentiss and her "compartmentalize" or whatever??
what the hell was up in the kitchen with morgan and jj.. he is being an ass....and in the computer room with garcia

holy crap guys...you got on here fast! first off, i wasn't a huge fan of Morgan in this one..he was MEAN...i mean...show a little tiny ounce of sympathy. I get that he loves Reid, but come on. I actually felt so bad for JJ here, but it looks like the start of something!! (crosses fingers and toes). When Reid was asked to choose someone to die, i almost thought that he would choose JJ because maybe he'd be mad?...I really hope they dont go to far into the reid drug thing...id absolutly hate that.
i thought it was probably the best episode of CM right now. hopefully they can follow that up with something great!
KeepReidClean - February 8, 2007 06:12 AM (GMT)
I don't want Reid to become an addict :(
Let me tell you, I love Reid, he's my favorite
character, but if they make him into an addict
it just won't work out between the two of us!
That episode was so hard to watch, with Reid
being hurt & all. Oh my :(
I'm praying for Gideon to notice Reid
& help him! Drugs are a HUGE no :-no

Did anyone see the shot they had in the previews where Morgan is hugging Garcia and says "I won't sleep until we get our boy back?" I don't remember seeing it.
First-Time Poster - February 8, 2007 01:52 PM (GMT)
Hi everyone!
I was searching for people who were talking about CM's sweep episodes. Glad I found you! I generally love the show.
I agree with the previous poster who was uncomfortable with the religious references on the show. I trust most of the audience knows that there are delusional people in every crowd. Raphael/Charles was definitely out of touch with the true nature of God--love.
Anyway, I'd been looking forward to Part 2, but I was a bit disappointed. I thought the parts with Reid being tortured went on too long, and I would have preferred to see Reid really applying his BAU skills more to confuse dad/Raphael. Instead, Reid seemed helpless (too much so for my taste), and the delusional dad one-upped Reid too much. The "fight" wasn't even enough for me.
I was hoping Reid's shot would "exorcise" the dad/Raphael and leave the son free to live a "normal" life. I was also kinda hoping there'd be more bonding between Morgan and Garcia, but, alas, very little. And, yes, I agree, he was a jerk to JJ.
As far as Reid taking the drugs, I'm ok. It should give him a larger role on the show. I only hope it doesn't lead to his demise like it did with that other female character last year.
Guest - February 8, 2007 02:19 PM (GMT)
I don't normally post about shows I watch, but I do love Criminal Minds. However, I am also VERY disappointed the Reid is the one with the drug problem. Every show these days seem to have a character with drug issues, but to make it the problem of the most intelligent yet seemingly naive person may be understandable, but DISTURBING.
I will not be able to watch the show much longer if this is a recurring event. Hopefully Gideon and/or Hotch will realize the problem and get him help immediately. I was okay with the way everything went down until he stole the vials as I was hoping they would notice his pulled up sleave and track marks immediately so they could get him help, but to allow him to indulge in the act is pathetic and needs to be remedied within this season.
hmr1126 - February 8, 2007 02:51 PM (GMT)
I think that in the previews for next week's episode, I remember seeing a scene where everyone is gathered in a room, where they usually do the "profile" for the local law enforcement and I remember seeing Reid sitting at a desk in the middle...at least I thought I did...
And I was surprised at Morgan being so short with JJ, because if you think about it, Reid was the one who suggested splitting up, but JJ could have followed him...I guess it's just that Morgan sees Reid as a "little brother" and felt helpless to find him and needed to take it out on someone...
As for Prentiss, the coldness was pretty striking, but there was that scene when she recognizes that JJ is really freaked out and suggests that she go with her to interview the AA sponsor and talk about Tobias - I think that showed her trying to be warm toward JJ, because she probably knew that JJ needed to do something to feel like she was helping them find Reid, especially since JJ isn't a profiler like the rest of them (excepting Garcia)...just a thought! And I'm still not a fan, but I thought that that scene made Prentiss seem a bit more sensitive...
nrikki - February 8, 2007 04:07 PM (GMT)
Does anyone know where to see last night's episode?
Ze Queen Of Bleu - February 8, 2007 05:26 PM (GMT)
Hmmmm. I can't say I've posted in quite some time, but I definitely had to return to post about last night's episode.
I was most definitely looking forward to this episode, and for the most part, it didn't dissapoint me.
When I read on a forum somewhere (it may have been this one, I'm not entire sure), that the writers were thinking about toying with the idea of Reid developing a drug problem I could most definitely tell that it would bring up a range of emotions in viewers, haha.
I do see it as something extremely over-done on TV these days, but I think if the writers really work at it, they could make the idea work. I think if they don't try to put the entire focus of the next few shows on said drug addiction, and just drop a couple of hints here and there until Hotch or Gideon find out about it, then I think that the idea would work.
Personally, if they focused too much on it... it wouldn't make me stop watching the show, but, it would make me not like it nearly as much.
As for Morgan in this episode. Yeah, I have to agree that he was acting jerk-ish. However, I think that makes sense for his character. I don't exactly see Morgan as the type who's going to come right out and say, "Reid's in trouble, I'm worried about him, what if I never see him again, oh my goodness" type of thing. I think the way he reacted in this episode was his way of dealing with what was happening to Reid. Even though I guess that's not an excuse for being a bit of a jerk.
I liked the flashbacks, and liked that we got a glimpse into what Reid's childhood was like. It must have been a rough one.
All in all, I think the episode was a good one. It sure had my eyes glued to the screen. I definitely enjoyed it.
Also, nrikki, the only thing that I could suggest on where you could see it would be to see if anyone has a torrent of it anywhere on the internet. I'm not extremely sure if there are torrents of Criminal Minds episodes, but I know that's what a lot of people do if they miss an episode of a show they like.
Leah - February 8, 2007 05:34 PM (GMT)
If you are wanting to voice your opinion and feedback to CBS, they actually have a form to do so! You can find it here:
http://www.cbs.com/info/user_services/fb_global_form.shtmlI gotta admit, I'm not liking the drug thing either, I feel like it is something the team would be prepared and on the look-out for in their agents, and Hotch always seems to take notice of the other agents (usually more so than Gideon). Plus, Reid seems to be the little brother of the team, and with his interactions with the other members I always got the feeling they all looked out for him.
But anyways, I'm sure if enough people filled out forms they'd certainly take notice!
JGZ1 - February 8, 2007 06:08 PM (GMT)
I find it a bit surprising that the BAU has now put two of their team members in perilous situations. Last year it was Elle and now Reid (and maybe JJ as well). This is not counting all of the 'close' calls. This just seems way too much and very un-FBI like.
Further, I don't like the drug addiction possibility. This is a cheap stunt for ratings. Reid should know better. Certainly he has just survived a terrible ordeal but still he should know better.
Treatment of JJ was poor as well. Her situation was pretty nasty and the rest of the team treated her somewhat like she was a second class member and that Reid was more important.
This whole situation was maybe a bit over the top. I think having the women killed by the dogs was a very, very sick thing to include in a show like this, even though I know the actual BAU has investigated much worse things (read Douglas's book). Still this is a TV show and I thought they were looking for extreme shock value.

SPOILER
I can't believe the Reid and Drug angle!!!
Gideon and Hotch have to figure it out sooner or later..
GAH!!
GAH!!
GAH!!
-dies-
Poor Poor Reid..
HE WAS SUCH A NERD AS A KID!!
Sorry. I just had to say that.
I actually wrote stuff about the episode during commercials, cause I couldn't sit still. It's a problem I have.
Rubber_Ducky - February 8, 2007 10:38 PM (GMT)
My opinion again lol :P some spoilers..and a possible spoiler..lol
I really, like I said before don't like the idea of reid becoming an addict. It's a very cliche storyline, the only difference is that he was drugged up with something different than pain killers....it was some type of heroin right? Another thing with his addiction(if thats definately gonna be what they do) is that he is using a seringe so that will leave track marks on his arm. which means he willl have to constantly wear long sleeved shirts and won't be able to roll his sleeves up. Another thing is that when they (if they do) do an autopsy on Tobias they will find drugs in his system, but no drugs on him.
My other theory was..in the previews we saw feet that looked like reids walk into a bathroom.. now the most common thing that non-drug addicts do when they find drugs on somone is to flush the drugs down a toilet.. bu I Highly doubt they'll do that lol!
another thing was..did anyone notice when reid said "I'm gonna go see if Jeff wants to play"I wonder who Jeff is? probably just a friend but yeah..lol
Cory55 - February 8, 2007 11:23 PM (GMT)
I realy liked the episodes and the drug angle..i thought it was that sleeping stuff they give you so you can go too sleep before an operation but ye...
ALSO wow..Ried,,,as a kid..i thought hhe was
1.a girl
2.asian lmfao wow.. but the episode made me go into shock almost ...RIED DIED....but was brought back too life...and poor poor Toibas he was nice but ye...blah..i didnt know the drugs were heroin as i mentioned before..how do you know its heroin like...it didnt show a label..i hope Ried just like flushes it and tells someone so he can get help

If they get around to doing the storyline that Reid has an old school rival....it would be funny if his name ends up being "Jeff"
I think the only way I can handle the drug storyline is if Reid toys with the idea but in the end either asks for help or realizes himself what he's about to do and doesn't even go there. It is a very cliche story on TV and not too original anymore.
| QUOTE |

In this story when they sent J.J. and Reid out it was just to investigate a police report...they had no idea he was the unsub and they couldn't call for backup so they really weren't intentionally put in danger.
I also saw Reid in a scene in the previews for next week's episode so he will be around....we just don't know if he's using the drugs.

I agree with you there, that would be a good storyline! and probably the only way i could deal with the drug story line!
I think That it just doesn't suit the character..it is kinda like saying Hotch secretly attends clown college on weekends...It just doesn't suit the character.
frog786 - February 9, 2007 01:08 AM (GMT)
love: I thought the dad was very weird as well. I agree that the kid looked like him- but I thought he was too well made up to be a young spencer reid- for me it just- kind of didn't fit right for me
Jentzer: I think morgan was just upset that reid was missing- he works with them all everyday and they're practically family- I think it just came down to stress
ac: you hoping for something to happen between JJ and Reid-- awww had the hug at the end not happened I wouldn't think so, but that hug- I think its a possibility
love again: I don't remember seeing that morgan hugging scene either!
hmr: I sincerely hope that you are right- if they resolve this- or at least start to resolve this next week I'll be very very happy. I will have to go look for screenshots of it to find out!
love: That would be hilarious if Jeff was the old school rival! I think I'd be ok with the idea of him being an addict for an episode- and then realizing what it was doing to him, and asking for help
rubber ducky: clown college on the weekends :)
I love this show! - February 9, 2007 01:37 AM (GMT)
Young Spencer was....well nerdy but then who didn't expect that? I thought the kid did a pretty good acting job. As for Spencer's childhood.....sad but hey at least he had a friend! I liked that his mother read to him and she seemed to care about him, maybe even more than herself (sure didn't feel much love from the dad) And the scene where he has the guys come and take his mother away....how sad! No wonder he never went to go visit her (but wrote her a letter every day according to Fisher King part 2) He probably couldn't face her!
And just how often does Spencer get a haircut anyway? :D
