Ok, this is a thought I had whilst on holiday, and was sparked off partly because I read about 3 books whilst on holiday (I told you I did nothing!) and partly because I was snouting in this thread before I went away.
Basically, the concept I dreamt up is based on the traditional book clubs. In one of those (for those not as readingly obsessed as me) you join a group of like-minded people, choose a book, read it in a week, then discuss it the following week. Rinse and repeat and that's your book club. But, seeing as we can't really all fly to a certain location once a week, and that we may not have time to read a whole book in a week, I thought a 21st century book club cold be arranged.
In here (this being our certain location for a group of like-minded people!) we recommend a book, whether it's one of our all-time favourites or a book we're reading now, or just one we happened to pick up. Then someone will read that book and give their opinions on it, and then recommend another book. No time limit, no 'group book' just friends swapping book titles.
But, instead of someone compusively recommending or compulsively reading, if you recommened a book you have to read one of the recommended books. And, if you've read one of the recommended books you must give your thoughts on it (even if it's just a sentecne saying 'I enjoyed it, well written etc'), say whether you would recommend it, and then recommend a book of your own.
So, sum up: Recommend a book. Read any of the books recommended. Give your thoughts on your chosen book. Recommend a book. Give the Title, Author and Blurb, and any other comments you feel are needed. | CODE |

If there's any queries, feel free to ask. Not sure how well this will work with other countries book availabilty, but we'll give it a go!
My recommendation.

Author: Ann Rule

| QUOTE |
Ann Rule was a writer working on the biggest story of her life, tracking down a brutal mass-murderer. Little did she know that the young man who was her close friend was the savage slayer she was hunting.
Ted Bundy was everyone's picture of a natural 'winner' - handsome, charming, brilliant in law school, successful with women, on the verge of a dazzling career. On January 24, 1989 Ted Bundy was executed for the murder of three young women: he has also confessed to taking the lives of at least thirty-five more young women from coast to coast.
This is his story - the story of his magnetic power, his unholy compulsion, his demonic double life, and his string of helpless victims. It was written by a women who thought she knew Ted Bundy, until she began to put all the evidence together, and the whole terrifying picture emerged from the dark depths. |
Further Comments/Clarifications As is obvious, it's a true crime book. I adore Ann Rule's books, although to someone who hasn't read her style of writing before, as she starts her stories practically at birth, and works up to the crime. She covers all points of the crime/s - victim and victim's life story; perp and erp's life story; evidence; behind-the-scenes style writing etc. Thouraghly enjoyable if you like delving into a killers/rapist/criminals pysch-y.
