Title: Fortuna Smiles
Description: (A poem)

GideonsGirlAnanke - May 25, 2006 04:53 AM (GMT)
I just had to write a poem about J.J.'s experience!

(Oh, yeah...and I got a bit lyrical about the time I wrote the part that starts with "In the silence...", so most of the last half of the poem can actually be sung! )

Fortuna Smiles
D.S. Ryelle

In Boston, tonight,
The lights are low.
The crowd has gathered,
Let’s start the show…

But 800 miles away,
A Witch is praying…
Somewhere,
A young woman saying,

“Athena,
Please let the show go well…
Fortuna,
Please smile on my friend.”

And…

You know…

They listen.

It all starts with a move.

“You came from Canada?
That’s so neat!
Let’s reward your loyalty
With a different seat!”

In the silence,
In the sweetness,
In the darkness so complete…

Our friend
takes her place;
And there is
but one person
who is pleased to
see her face.

“They call you Jenny?”
What a sweetie!
“May I dedicate a song to you?”

Go ahead my dear
and smile…
Dreams come true!

When he sings,
There is but one voice,
One sound,
One moment,
That occupies her mind.

O, but after,
When he’d be rushed away…
Jen smiles prettily,
Says, “Please, sir…
Can you stay?”

There are poses,
There are pictures,
Soft words,
And then goodbye…

Who will
forget this moment?
Oh my dear,
not I!

She comes back
and
shares her story,
All the ladies
have a cry…

But still one girl
raises her eyes
to the sky…

“Thanks be to Everyone,
to Athena,
and to Fortuna,
Who smiles tonight.”

Wow! Look at you all inspired :D I still feel so overwhelmed (mind if I print it out? It might help with the log I kept and have to polish off).

*When I woke this morning it was as if it were a dream... Until I stepped over my carry on to get into my office this morning... AH! I still have to unpack!

Of course you may print it out!

:D

Thanks again... :)

I hope you don't mind I showed my grandmother (she thought it was good)... She would have gone with me had it not been for the darn Cuba trip that got cancelled only after I booked everything for me, myself, and I (and she would have dropped deader than I did!). Wish I could do the poetry thing... It's been soooo long since I've written a verse... Maybe, once I get everything in order...

Funny...I was thinking of something like that a little bit ago...

I was going to tell you that the Muse of Fiction practically lives at my house, but the Muse of Poetry only drops by once in a blue moon!

(Actually, I've seen more "blue moons" than of that Muse!)

It's been... I don't usually count... but it’s been since November of 2002 that I've been able to pen a fluid verse... Don't get me wrong, I love the result, but I don't try and get blood from a stone (darn good thing I'm not a song writer, I’d surely starve)...

That is bad!

Don't I know it!
