If you click the link-y (CSI: Roleplay) banner in my signature, that should hopefully help ya get the feel for a 'live' one. But basically a roleplay is like an interactive story, or as EmilyPrentiss86 said, like acting. You choose a character, and you get to take the world of the profilers into your own hands. So, for instanse, if the 3 of us were to do one, and I grabbed Hotch, Emily grabbed Emily and you picked Reid (for example) we could then start roleplaying as a group. One of us would post first off, and get the story started, and then we'd each post after each other (not necessarily in order) and let the story roll.
Hopefully that explained it, but it's really fun, I love roleplaying. It takes a lot of work, and willing participants, but there so much fun. Of course, the danger with doing one in such a populated board is that there are limited characters, and tons of fans who would want to play as them.

I agree, it's a great idea, but Jemma's concerns are valid. I guess though, it would depend on who's around enough for it. People like me who barely manage to drop in once a month wouldn't be a good candidate, so would that limit the pool some? If there were more people like that?

Hi! New, and probably don't carry much weight in the conversation, but I think a roleplay would be a great addition to the site. Plus, not everyone would have to be in the same thread doing the same roleplay. There could be a category for a roleplay with many different threads so that there's enough character love to go around. (Say if "Rob" wanted to be Reid and "Janet" wanted to be Reid, they could both be him, but not in the same story.)

Thats a good idea Doctor Reed. I've seen a RP done like that, where at the beginning of the story the person would set the scene, give a bio or something, put the characters that they definetly want, and then people would pick their characters and go. It would means perhaps starting 2 threads off - One the RP and one the character thread. e.g.
'Criminal Minds Vacation' (Roleplay)
'Criminal Minds Vacation: Character Application' (Character Thread)
That way everyone gets a crack at playing their favourite character, and we could always say you can only play one character at a time or and must wait a certain time before joining another thread.
Plus Krissys point is also good, there are some people on that aren't on that often (for whatever reason) and so maybe wouldn't be eligable.

Yes, exactly!
Oh! And you can just call me Jules, everyone does.
How would you let someone know that they're banned from the roleplay though? If it is even called being "banned"?
CriminalMind - January 13, 2009 03:52 PM (GMT)
Nice to meet you Jules! :)
And, to answer tou question, no idea! I'm guessing that be a job to be handled carefully, maybe we'd have to start the whole RP off with a rule taht if you didn't have so many posts/hadn't been on in a while, you couldn't apply. Either that or have mods vetting everyone, which would be a pain, and would lead to tensions. Definetly one of the problems to be considered if ever an RP got of the ground.
Another problem I was thinking of - would everyone keep posting on the regular board? I'm on 2 sites (one which is mine, and mostly for RP, but anyhoos!) and on one that I'm on, the posting for the rest of the baord seems to go downhill, with some people just not posting on the main board anymore. Plus, when the shows off air during hiatus (of course, different for every conutry), there tends to be a general slowdown.
Also, another one would be timezones/countries. Pretty much everyone on here is on at different times, what with timezones/work/school/family etc and that may be something to think of, because the RP may not move quickly enough.
Doctor Reed - January 15, 2009 03:49 PM (GMT)
I've definitely been in that situation before, with the different time zones it would be difficult to manage an RP. But I find it better if you have time to think about what your character would do as opposed to reeling it right of the bat, resulting in a sub-par story.

Hi, I'm brand new but I've got a site set up for a Criminal Minds RPG and because I just set it up yesterday I still need people to play if anyone's interested...
The site is
http://criminalmindsrpg.forumotion.com so stop by and tell me what you think. And I know what you mean by the time zone thing but it generally works out fine anyway...in my experience.
