Just an idea,why not have a shout box in which members can shout messages to everyone in general instantly?I have seen them in other sites and think that it would be good to have one here.
As mentioned,it is just an idea.

I like Shout boxes (or chat boxes as some call them) and I have one on my site. I think there a great way to bring members together to use as a general chat tool. Another great thing some sites do is have an intereactive live chat, either via messenger or a chat room specifically gotten for the site. Of course, with different time zones that becomes difficult, but there still nice ideas.
Forgive me, I don't know much about this, but aren't these shout boxes used on regular websites, like, in the place of a forum? Don't they accomplish the same goal?
