In three seasons of Criminal Minds, the writers have introduced different characters for individual story lines. Some of these characters have been in more than one episode, either for two part restrictions, or for story line continuation, i.e. Det. William LaMontagne Jr., Tracy Belle, Rebecca Bryant, Agent Josh Cramer, etc. Beyond the familial links, like Haley and LaMontagne, what other single or multiple episode characters would you like to see return to at least one episode for either character building or interest?
Personally, the top of my list is John Blackwolf (Gregory Cruz, "The Tribe" Season 1: Episode 16). I loved the way that he and Hotch grew to communicate, and what he brought to the investigation - the natural profiling. Knowing people helps the profile, but knowing the land helps the direction. By far, Blackwolf is my favorite guest "good guy" in the series.
After that, I'd be very interested to know what's happened with Lila Archer (Amber Heard, "Somebody's Watching" Season 1: Episode 18). This is the only "romantic" relationship outside of the innuendo with J.J. that Reid has experienced on the show. Considering his recent drug issues, a love issue might be a nice change of pace.
Somewhere in the mix, Max Ryan (Geoffrey Pierson, "Unfinished Business" Season 1: Episode 15). . Why? Rossi and Ryan were part of the department at the same time, based on what we know. Wouldn't it be great if they clashed, or collaborated, on an open case, especially now that Gideon is not on the team?
Good guys are great, but what about the bad guys? As far as we know, Frank is dead (which is likely, or ultimately hokey if he's alive). What about the bad guys that might come back?
Top of my list for a possible guest appearance of Mandy Patinkin - Adrian Bale (Tim Kelleher, "Won't Get Fooled Again" Season 1: Episode 3). Why not? Gideon's not dead, but he is conflicted. Beyond Frank, what would get Gideon involved in a case again?
After that, Floyd Feylinn Ferell (Jamie Kennedy, "Lucky" Season 3: Episode 8). Not only did the episode avoid several telling characteristics about the unsub, it focused more on Rossi and Morgan than the investigation. Let's face it; a "Hannibal Lector" type criminal is definitely interesting.
Anybody else have some guest favorites they like to see come back for at least one other episode?
I too would love to see Lila back. Like you said, we haven't seen Reid in a real romantic relationship, and it'd be nice to explore that side of him. Of course, the writers seem to be far too busy traumatizing him for that.
That's an interesting idea, a Ryan/Rossi reunion. It could be very interesting. There'd definitely be some tension and struggle for control over the situation. But again, only in a dream world will we see that happen.
Good thread, though.
