Title: Who is the Killer?
Description: (More Speculation)

I'm starting this new thread in order for us to put here all the clues that we know so far...Here we can speculate about who might be the killer and why he is doing this...

I will start with a TON of clues that I've noticed the second time I watched this episode on my tape...

First of all,

The use of the word "adventure" was used a lot by the killer in the video that he sent the team. If you go back to the very beginning, Reid talks about how his mom always thinks of his cases as "adventures". He said that his mom believes that adventures can be found everywhere...

Most importantly, the worker at the sanitarium emphasizes that Reid's mom TALKS about him and his cases to almost anyone who will listen! She says she talks to staff, other patients about the cases!

Another thing, Reid said that he sends her daily letters filled with information about his cases AND probably about the people he works with...And his mom writes everything in her own daily journal too! So this really leads me to believe that the killer was either a patient or a staff member at the sanitarium...

Also if you noticed this, Reid said that his mother was a 15th century professor of literature! Everything in this episode has to do with miedieval times! I think that at the beginning of the episode where even Garcia was playing a sort of medieval game! That was I think just a little hint and probably does not mean much other than it's the writers of the Criminal Minds giving us some clues...Also doesn't the woman in that game LOOK like the vicitim captured...both are blonds and pretty! And the game is set in Camelot!

Now, let's talk about the fact that the killer said "the young one is the key" It means not only does he literally HAVE the key, but he is also metaphorically the key to this case BECAUSE it has everything to do with his own mother! Maybe the "Save her" refers to Reid's mom! Reid did not even want to speak to her when he showed up...and the other staff member noticed that it's good to actually "see" him come!

Another thing about when Reid asked about his mom is doing, the staff member replied "she has her good and bad days!" and that "shizophrenia"(lol spelling) is a life time disease...Hmmm...Remember that the team NOTICED that the killer was "injured" in some way! Maybe when the killer was in the sanitarium, Reid's mom had one of her "bad" days and attacked him and harmed him...So this would be his pay back! To play a game with her son...send him on "another" adventure!

Now the book mentions! Let's see, Reid brought his mom's FAVORITE book to her! I think this is the book that can crack the code that the killer sent! It's all in that book...All the clues! I'm going to try to find that book...Reid said it's "Margery Temp"...So that has to be the main clue! And the camera kept showing the same code "118.30.03" So if we find this book, and use Reid's way of decoding it...we should know for sure what is happening!

What's interesting is that the killer knows PERSONAL info about the team! That could not be in Garcia's computer! Sure, her data files have their addresses and biographical info, BUT there is no way that it includes the fact that JJ used to collect butterflies! Or who Gideon used to view as his baseball hero when he was little! Now it's interesting that BOTH Gideon and JJ received personal items! JJ used to be Reid's big crush in the first few episodes of the season...and Gideon is like Reid's father...SO I think maybe Reid knew this information and could have written it to his mother! Remember when Reid was looking at the butterfly, he knew exactly what kind it was! Another thing that the killer emphasized was that "everything stars at the beginning" And both JJ and Gideon got items from their own beginnings!

All the other medieval things in this episode point to Reid's mom, the professor of 15th century literature! Also if you noticed, his mom was seating right next to a pile of books! And when the killer calls Hotch, he tells him " the youngest holds the key. HELP him save her!" SO I do think the 'her' is really the mom...I think that the kidnapped girl is just a red herring...

Also the girl has been kidnapped for two years! Maybe something horrible had happened to the killer two years ago...as I mentioned before, maybe Reid's mom attacked him and physically "injured" him...Also notice that Reid has NOT visited his mom in a LONG time and that he seemed to even be afraid to even talk to her!

Now let's take a closer look at the killer...When they showed him, it looked like he had 'older furniture'...he also had medieval statuettes of knights on horses...Old fashioned glasses...the whole atmosphere of where he was seemed "old fashioned"...And Morgan mentioned that the killer must be "rich, well off" to leave the money at the crime scene...Let's also not forget that one man was murdered with an old sword right in the middle of the room so that the light could be cast! And then the whole music box, perhaps to symbolize pandora's box or something...Then the cut off head! I mean that used to be what happened in medieval times, someone's head would be cut off!

It's all about history here...Even Elle mentioned "indiana jones" a coupld of times...and that only further emphasizes "adventure!"...Then the clues was etched in the sword...hmm....Even at the beginning of the episode, Hotch was playing with his "pirate hat"...and talking to his wife about old memories, "their beginnings" and the pirate hat symbolizes "adventure" and the wife told him to come up with a reason to keep the hat at the end of the day..hm..maybe he will come up with it..LOL...

I don't know but didn't Morgan always tell Reid "All Work no play"...And then suddenly ,this message was all over Garcia's computers...hmm...perhaps Reid mentioned to his mother about Morgan in his letters to her...And it's funny that when Reid finally arrives to help his team, Elle tells him "never go away again..."

Also I truly believe that the guy that danced with Elle had drugged her! She was NOT acting like herself at all at the dance floor, even Morgan asked her if she was all right...that seemed a little off...why would he ask her that...And if it were a set up, how would the killer know that Elle is even single...I mean what if she were in a serious relationship, would she really be charmed by another dude...Remember the recent episode, when Elle was being questioned about whether she had a boyfriend or not...Another thing that Reid could have included in his letters to his mother!

Another thing that bugged me was that the note that Reid got had said, " She will die unless YOU save her, Dr. Reid. Call Gideon. he knows." Hmm...it seems it is ALL up to him to save "his mother" perhaps? And what does 'gideon know'...maybe Gideon knows about Reid's mother or something like that....

Finally let's talk about Elle...Some people are worried that she will die! LOL...No way that would happen! First of all, Lola LOVES working in Criminal Minds...go to the official CBS page and check out all the videos...She says she loves being the only female agent on field with all guys...and that the guys are like her brothers...SO I don't think she would get fired because she is honestly the only MAIN female agent...Otherwise, it would be an all male show with two minor female characters, JJ and Garcia! Also ALL the cast members are usually signed for 5-6 years on the show...And usually no main characters are killed in first season!

At the end, a shot is fired...BUT we don't see WHO shot the fire, where did the bullet come from...we just HEAR a shot...usually when characters are murdered, you can SEE that they are dead...just watch LOST, for instance...

Another thing I found interesting was how Gideon was acting in the last five minutes of the show...Let's see...He tells JJ to go to the media KNOWING that it would piss the killer off!!!! It's the number one rule that the killer gave the team! The only rule to the game was broken! He even had a small grin on his face...Gideon is very smart and knows how the killer will feel about it! When Gideon and Hotch were watching JJ giving a press conference...Hotch asked, "you think this will work?" and Gideon answered, "it will send the right message"...That explains everything...It's a set up, guys! I'm 110 percent sure! Gideon specializes in reading the minds of criminals...He knew exactly what would happen! The killer would be pissed and would come out of his hiding! Then Hotch sends Elle alone and kind of tells her "it's an order" and then tells Gideon that he sent her home and Gideon says "Good..." and has this look on his face like he knows what will happen!

The team is NOT stupid enough to send Elle home knowing that the killer KNOWS where she lives...I mean even Hotch sent his wife/baby to a hotel and Gideon was upset that now he has no place to go to be really alone...

So this is what I think will happen...The shot is fired by Gideon, Hotch, or Morgan...Then the killer is caught...and the rest of the episode is trying to find the kidnapped girl...The team would have all the clues and they would have to search for the missing girl using all that they know! OR maybe the killer is shot but still manages to get away! Anyway, I can guarantee that the shot fired was NOT from the killer, but from an agent...And it's obvious that the killer really has nowhere to escape since I bet the entire police squad is around Elle's place...SO I believe the killer would be caught and the rest of the second part of the episode would be about finding the victim...

Anyway, we need to find this book, "Margery Temp"...and check out those coded pages...

But I truly believe that the killer was either a patient or staff person, even maybe a doctor, at the sanitarium where Reid's mom is...Reid is the KEY...His mom's journals and stories helped the killer set all this up...That's how the killer knows about all the cases and PERSONAL details that could not possibly be found in the computer data bases...Anyway, this could be his revenge because I believe that Reid's mom "injured" the killer during her "bad" days...Let's not forget that the killer appears to be injured...It was mentioned like three times during the show...

WOW...long post...anyway, what are your ideas, guys?
