Title: Gideon VS Rossi
Description: who is the better profiler?

wenlong104 - May 9, 2008 01:39 AM (GMT)
Do u think the directors or writers of the shows can ask Mandy Patinkin to show up in 1 episode in future episodes? that will be cool........Gideon shows up as extra...and solve the case with Rossi....that will be awsome...so we could see who is the better profiler.......haha

but who do you think is the better profiler ? and why?

Eszty - May 9, 2008 09:05 AM (GMT)

Rossi is better profiler, because he is right.. and THE END

Of course Rossi. He is better, and even more correct. and of course looser, not a conceited man than Gideon.

but dont you think...it will be cool.........if Gideon comes back for 1 more episod...and solves the case with Rossis......that will be great....dont u think?

Eszty - May 9, 2008 05:14 PM (GMT)
I hope for it because of that Gideon falls into an elevator shaft...
I am evil??
:D :D

I don't know which of the two is a better profiler, they're…different in their tactics and I don't think it is easy to determine which one is better, I think they just both are good at the job.

I do think it would be fun to see Gideon return for an epi, but I'm not sure if the emotions between the team are not a bit too high to have that happen, specially between Gideon and Hotch, and Gideon and Reid, how would they work pass that for it to be valuable for a case to have Gideon in it?
And well I also would think it to be fun to see Elle return for an episode, but that also hasn't happened…

if the writers or directors could make a episod which a case that Gideon involes in...that will be cool......for example...there was a murder which Gideon was there...like his "NEW" girl friend got kill again...or his children....which he couldnt solve it only by himself...so he called BAU....that would be sick.........

and then Gideon and Rossis work together......they should have that...for either season finale...or series finale......haha

I was having this discussion with someone this morning...we both agree that Rossi is the better profiler...he is more careful and caculating not as rash as Gideon and takes responsibility for his own choices not have someone else take the fall as Gideon did with Hotch after Doubt...He also recognizes that Hotch is the boss and they have a situation of shared power and respect...Rossi also cares alot more for Hotch then Gideon did...and they have more of a friendship...

right u have the point.....i remembered in "DOUBT" when morgan telling GIDEON that maybe mistakes in the profile......GIDEON was keep telling him that it was correct......he didnt even explain to morgan why.....that doesnt look like a team at that point....

do u think ROSSIS knows GIDEON? just curious......haha

by the way...i heard GIDEON's character was based on JOHN DOUGLAS...the former profiler.....so who is ROSSIS base on now? any one at all?

Marsh - May 10, 2008 02:55 PM (GMT)
It's a tough choice... Jason Gideoen has been in the business for a long time, but David Rossi has wrote some books about profiling... I think I'll say Jason Gideon because of his many years of experience. However, David Rossi is a better/funnier character in the series.

Rossis wrote books only?? i thought when he was the profiler too...and wrote many books...and retired for many years......

by the way i know character of Gideon was based on a real profiler name JOHN DOUGLAS.....but who does ROSSIS based on?

x-amber-x - May 11, 2008 06:28 AM (GMT)
I think they are both as good as each other, but the thing that sets them apart and people think one is better then the other is that they look at each Case in a different persecptive. But if i had to choose one i would say Rossi

Sorry for you to interpreting it that way. If I thought that Rossi was not a profiler, I don't think I would include him in the equation, and the choice would be extremely easy.
There is a reason for why this was being such a difficult choice, like... them both being great profilers.

the epdisod that ROSSIS first appear.......Morgan and other team mates are saying ROssis wrote many books......and retired and some time have those world tour about his books......also in the episod i forgot which one......when ROssis was writing down some info about the murder case on a note pad.......Hotch told ROssis that whatever he has...he can share with the team....then ROssis said......"we used to do that in the past" <= does that mean Rossis was a profiler in the past ? or he just a police officer?

Marsh - May 13, 2008 06:39 AM (GMT)
Is this some kind of a concealed Rossi Fanclub or something? I thought this was an open question, but I am obviously not allowed to think that Gideon maybe is the better profiler... What happened to the freedom of having my own opinions? I thought that this was a great message board to discuss Criminal Minds (and many other funny things), and feel free to have my own opinions, but now I'm not quite sure anymore...
Well, sorry... I guess I can't explain my opinion any further to you. I give up. Feel free to interpret this in any way you want. It doesn't look like any explaination is gonna help anyway...

Rach112 - May 13, 2008 11:42 AM (GMT)
Marsh - LOL! A concealed Rossi club..you haven't spoken to Pam yet! Do you know how long Steph and I have been trying to get people to like Rossi?

We are a fun bunch here and you can discuss whatever you like ;) Things do get heated occasionally but we're still friends at the end of the day  Have whatever opinions you like!

I actually agree that Gideon is the better profiler. I prefer Rossi as a character now but I still don't think he's as good as Gideon at the profiling thing.

Wenlong - Rossi was a profiler in the past. He was actually a founding member of the BAU. He then left to go and write books and become a rich man ;)

I think it's hard to compare Rossi and Gideon, they're both just so different! They're both wonderful at their jobs but they approach things in opposite ways. And yes, I assume Gideon and Rossi knew one another, they probably worked together for quite a long time.

I doubt we'll ever see Gideon back on the show

Well, you don't have to use a lot of time to make me like Rossi. I've liked his character ever since he arrived in the series. :)
(I just think that Gideon is the better profiler...)

That's exactly my opinion. Gideon is probably the better profiler, but Rossi's character is better and funnier.

Linda06 - May 14, 2008 05:54 PM (GMT)
I just can't seem to take to Rossi at all.....I've tried but i dunno,i just can't sem to get used to him!

Special Agent Jentzer - May 14, 2008 06:51 PM (GMT)
**maybe its the CAPS/large letters**

I certainly do like Gideons style better....and as many books as Rossi has written, gideon was spending his time "teaching" at quantico so I think that is a fair trade off.

Rossi is coming around....I just find (as with elle), a major character change, this early in the shows career is frustrating.

His sense of humor has been showing through the last few epiosde as well.

I picture Rossi, Gideon and SSA Kate Cole as the first memebers of the BAU....each working alone

CM Addict - May 15, 2008 01:21 AM (GMT)
Hmm, that's an interesting thought, Jentzer.

Wenlong, Rossi was based on a guy with the same name who was a cop on the OJ Simpson case in the 90s.

Personally I'm inclined to agree with Marsh and Rach. I think Gideon's the better profiler. In every ep, he just gave you the comfort that he knew what he was doing. Obvioiusly Rossi is a good profiler too, but I'm still warming to him, like some other people.

I really think it would be a bad idea to bring Gideon back. He got a good send off, and as someone said, the emotions on the team (as well as the cast, I might add) are too high right now for that. I think Gideon and Rossi are separate characters and we should keep them separate. Trying to compare Rossi to Gideon isn't going to do much.

why? no one loves GIDEON no more? u know is good to check on ur old friend some time u know, to see hows he doing lately......

huuudaaa - May 19, 2008 01:34 PM (GMT)
i voted for gideon, because im biased. :D

but i have to agree tt although it would be fun to have him back on one ep, it'll still not be right. like CM Addict said, he got a good send off, and bringing him back even for just one ep will spoil it.

Karla - June 6, 2008 03:05 AM (GMT)
I'm sorry to the writers who created Gideon.

I stopped watching the show in mid-2nd season. Didn't
know why. But, when Rossi joined, I went back into
it.

People I know that watch Criminal Minds enjoyed
Garcia. I didn't. Until later, did I get to understand the
character.

In Damaged, I beleive that's what hit me with Garcia
with Rossi. She's away from the computers. Actually
having a life. She's still shaken the next morning. Even
when Rossi ordered her not to tell anyone, she
still had to. That showed me the different side of her.

Rossi is still new to me. Even in Damaged, there's
something I don't see in him yet. Just like the show
when it started, all of the characters were still "new".
Rossi is just like that.

I've read in some threads, were Rossi is growing on
some of the fans here. Give him a chance. Little
by little, we'll learn more about him.

HUGS

I chose Gideon, i'm not 100% sure why. I think he was an amazing character and to me, he seemed to really care about what he was doing. I am also only warming to Rossi at the moment but the first time i saw him in the program it seemed to me that the person who cast the part for Rossi chose someone who has a similar voice to Gideon. Anyone agree or am i going deaf?! :D xxx

Drake - July 23, 2008 02:42 PM (GMT)
Rossi

Elle_Gr - July 23, 2008 05:55 PM (GMT)
I voted for Gideon. I know it's not fair because we 've seen and loved Gideon more. However, I still think that Gideon is more cool headed under stress and can think on his feet, while Rossi... well he needs better conditions. (I really hope I make sense  )

Nardias - September 13, 2008 04:22 AM (GMT)
I voted Gideon, coz he's just soo cool. When Criminal Minds began he was the mysterious character with a past. And he reminded me of a type of father figure for the team. In the episode "Broken Mirror", Gideon cut up an organge and gave one piece to each of the team, that just to be me made him seem more of the father figure.

Rossi isn't so bad, but he seems more up tight and business like. It's like have an older Hotch around i suppose. Sorry to all the Rossi fans, but I prefer Gideon over Rossi.
