My all-time favorite CM episode!!! :D I love this episode! I think if CM had been a more established show this one would have been nominated for an emmy. It's such a wonderful story.

It was interesting that in the beginning they truly thought both of them were guilty. They just thought Sarah Jean had killed Riley to protect him from Jacob, but they never thought she had anything to do with any of the girls from the start. And then slowly Gideon starts to figure out the truth and tries to save her life even when she doesn't want to be saved. It's an interesting line that was drawn - how guilty was she? She knew Jacob was taking the girls to his workshop but she didn't know he was killing them. And in the end her wanting to protect her son from even knowing who his real parents were, and being willing to die to do that.....heartbreaking!

This is by far my favorite Gideon episode. The choice he made at the end to let her wishes be carried out and let her die was surprising but so touching - and her request for him to be in the execution chamber so he could be the last face she sees, gets me every time! And I love the simple ending of this episode...him listening to Riley playing the cello and that one little tear runs down his face. Ah! Where's the kleenex?

But besides Gideon the other half of this episode was also great. Jacob was just as wonderful because he was so creepy! I loved how JJ volunteered to go into the room with him to try and help get some information out of him and he wanted to smell her hair - oooooh! *shivers* creeepy!!!! But I had to laugh too at a few of his lines.....when he's smoking and he tells Hotch that he knows....someday those things would kill him.

Great, great episode!! I think it will always be my favorite!

I thought it was a pretty good episode. I liked how they didn't go with the happy ending (but then again, on the commentary, one of the guys says, "If we weren't going to end it this way, then what would've been the point in doing it?" Wise words). I like how the audience is made to start off hating Sarah Jean, but by the end you've seen her in a totally different light. And the tension right before Gideon decides to give her what she wants....the best part of the episode if you ask me.

Btw, why do you have to shave your head before being electrocuted? If you're dead I seriously doubt you'll care about your hair sticking up.

About the JJ/Hotch/Jacob scene, the first time I watched it I felt the same way as I do now: What was the point of that? She didn't actually help, did she? The goal was to get Jacob to tell them where the bodies were because she's pretty, but he didn't even tell them anything, and before he didn't tell them anything he made Hotch play cards with him. I didn't really see the point of having her there. He didn't say anything because of her, he said something because he lost the game.

Oh, and I loved the opening sequence in the cars (I believe in the commentary they call them lob something scenes?). It was a different opening and I've always liked the back and forth like that. And YAY for Garcia going with them! I love seeing more of her.

I think all I know about electrocution I learned from watching the Green Mile so I don't know if this is accurate - but didn't they say shaving the head (and putting the wet sponge on the head) helped to direct the electricity to the brain so they would die faster.

I think the point of her being there was to play into his fantasy and for part of the bet. he wouldn't have anything to play for if JJ hadn't been there.

I thought this was one of CM's best episodes. It was one of the few where we actually got attached to "Unsubs". My favorite scene was probably the last two as it showed how much Gideon actually cared for them as people, not just another case.

Jacob Dawes was creepy! kudos to the actor that portrayed him. especially when we first meet him and he's all handcuffed and they do that up shot of him. send shivers down my spine!

and like you guys said i like the way they went at the end. they ended up saving her, but being the good mother she is, she sacrificed herself to give her son a better life. good stuff.

but, did the kid know he was adopted? or did he just think his adopted parents were his biological ones?

I got the impression he didn't know. When he was sitting in the car he looked confused and his parents looked desperate to get the agents to shut up, it looked to me like they were trying to protect a secret. Since he was so young when he was adopted he probably wouldn't have remembered it, so they could get away with that.

I always thought the same thing. He didn't know and his adoptive parents didn't intend to tell him (probably a promise they made to Sarah Jean when she gave him to them) I think that's why the father looked so nervous when Elle and Morgan showed up because he realized they knew about the boy but and he was afraid they were going to say something and Riley would learn the truth. I think that's why he thanked them when Morgan said they made a mistake and turned to leave.

I loved this one!!!One of my all-time favorites...

I think the point of JJ being there was to play into his fantasy...

My favorite moment was when Hotch took the picture of Riley and put it up to the window when jacob was being executed and said " Riley...you lose"....

Jacob was totally creepy...
