Title: The Fisher King
Description: Part One
J.J. - May 10, 2006 02:04 AM (GMT)
I just watched the season final... It isn't quite what I had expected... I have a pretty good idea of how it's going to pan out.... Too bad they couldn't do it like the English where they really have wondering who done it.
Can't wait to hear what everyone else thinks... I don't want to give anything away ;)
frog786 - May 10, 2006 02:16 AM (GMT)
Hi everyone- I'm new here-- well not really new- I've read this site for a long time now, I just never really had a reason to get involved before. (I'll post more under the new people part)
I thought this episode started off kind of interesting, but the whole thing at the end-- I don't really know what they're looking for- I've taped it to get the clues... so maybe we can all work together over the break to figure it out.... it definitly could get complicated!
GideonsGirlAnanke - May 10, 2006 02:38 AM (GMT)
I hate that y'all are ahead of us!
But at least I can be comforted by the fact that it's a two-parter, so you don't know everything yet.
J.J. - May 10, 2006 02:41 AM (GMT)
I know enough... Have a few 'questions' though... ;)
~ Won't ask till the rest of you have seen it....
CTV rules! :D
Kyle - May 10, 2006 03:34 AM (GMT)
That makes me so mad! Like ugh! IS CTV even allowed to do that when it's CBS's show? lol
ac5000 - May 10, 2006 03:54 AM (GMT)
ahh...JJ...what province are you in...how'd you get it so early? :o
frog786 - May 10, 2006 04:06 AM (GMT)
I watched it tonight- on channel 8 I believe.. normally on Weds its on channel 5... somtimes I can get 3 different episodes in one week... b/c for some reason periodically they put an episode on Monday nights... and tuesday nights and weds nights.... tonights episode that I have already seen is the same one shown tomorrow night on channel 5.
cookie.crumbs - May 10, 2006 05:26 AM (GMT)
Hi all:
guess this season finale is what needed to get me out here and start posting... :P ...
I just watched it too... and I mean, I'm not shocked by the way it ended (what a... not-so-creative way to do a cliffhanger!) I like the beginning of it... the middle part (where the "meat" of the whole episode is) is certainly entertaining.... but the end?... <_< It does leave me a question about the cast in season 2 though - so, any idea about that, or is it one of those miracles thing?
J.J. - May 10, 2006 11:36 AM (GMT)
Don't read this unless you've seen it, or don't mind spoilers:
Well they do say lack of sleep (not sleeping for 36h can put a major damper on your reflexes... However, I have a feeling that there was some sort of drug involved as well... If you watch it again, pay attention to how she is w/nameless guy when they're on the dance floor... The locals should have done a tox screen and a blood alcohol, but that's just the cop side of me ;))
So in terms of the ending.. I'm thinking if by some luck, she managed to dodge the bullet, by flinging herself across the table. After that, hmmm... If she was able to grab her gun as well, then the unsub is in some serious trouble (I think most of us feel something interesting happened to her in her past, I doubt that she'd give up that easily).
My other thing... A nameless woman meeting Gideon in his cabin in the woods? Who is she? She looked like the mistress of the night and totally NOT his type... Unless that's the point?

I KNOW! the woman @ Gideon's cabin was a little.... out there... I can't imagine him with someone like that... like.. she's a nice woman and all, but she just doesn't seem to click with Gideon... MMMmmm....
As per Elle's part... yeah... that's what I THOUGHT would happen.... then it'd get listed as one of television's wonderful miracles on screen... but then, that's just me being sarcastic... B)
ac5000 - May 10, 2006 10:49 PM (GMT)
spoiler...
but we dont know if lola's going to come back...it wouldve been the perfect way to kill elle off...
GideonsGirlAnanke - May 10, 2006 11:30 PM (GMT)
But how many shows kill off a main character at the end of season one? Seems like suicide to me!
J.J. - May 10, 2006 11:51 PM (GMT)
That's what I was wondering... They just leave it open enough (They would already have the contracts done right??)

I hope Gideon isn't having another breakdown (sorry, I keep forgetting the actual name for an emotional/mental breakdown)... When he walks away and Hotch is like: "Jason.... Jason...." and he doesn't turn around, just goes into his office... I was thinking Hotch will have to make the dreaded call to the agent who asked him to "Gideonsit" --> (Please tell me he isn't as he so un-eloquently put it: "out of gas" (so not Gideon).
There's that and a few mistakes made, but all in all, a good way to end it.
Kyle - May 11, 2006 02:04 AM (GMT)
OMG.. I can't wait for the next episode! Ok, so is that part one, and there's another new episode next week, or next season? If it's next season.. I can't wait that long! lol
ac5000 - May 11, 2006 02:17 AM (GMT)
next season...dont you hate it when they do that?!...but...its a real way to draw people in...
cookie.crumbs - May 11, 2006 02:45 AM (GMT)
I KNOW! it's annoying how they leave this open cliff-hanger and make us wait for months... and I sincerely hope you're right saying that it'd be suicide to kill a character off after 1 season, especially when the show's doing well... and normally, when they do this their contract thing for a tv show, they sign a longer contracts, right?... I'm trying to calm myself...
GideonsGirlAnanke - May 11, 2006 02:47 AM (GMT)
I was going to argue that it was next week, but you're right...'Cause the Amazing Race is two hours.
ARGH!!!
------------
Yeah, I was worried about the cabin freakout, too. I was like, "OMG...Gideon's going off his rocker again...he's having some sort of anxiety attack or something!"
Very disconcerting!
greenleo - May 11, 2006 05:14 AM (GMT)
I have heard NOTHING about Lola wanting to leave...If you go to the CBS Criminal Minds page, you will see lots of video clips where Lola talks about how much she loves working on Criminal Minds and that she loves being the only female agent...and that she thinks of all her male actors as her brothers...So to me, she sounded very happy to have this job...Plus each cast member is usually signed for at least 5-6 years...that's the norm...And there is nothing that says that Lola wants to leave! And they would never fire Lola...she is the ONLY female agent in the field working with all males...I mean Garcia is just the comic relief sidekick sort of character...And JJ hasn't had much screen time either...she is the publicity person...This show NEEDS Elle, the only female that can go to do field work with the other guys...Otherwise, it's an all male show with only two minor female characters, Garcia and JJ...And no show usually kills one of the main characters in the very first season!
Elle is NOT dead guys! First of all, we only HEARD the gun shot...We did not see the bullet hit Elle...Remember, another agent took her home! I believe that the shot that was fired was from that other agent...I don't believe Elle got shot at all. Usually when characters are murdered, you can clearly SEE that they are dead and that there is no way to save them...In LOST, characters that die are obviously dead...So because, we don't know who fired the shot, and who got hit with the bullet...We saw nothing at all...I'm a 110 percent sure that Elle is just fine!
My speculation is that the other agent shot his gun but missed the killer and so the killer was able to escape...and Elle is unharmed...My other thought is that maybe everything was set up purposely by the team...Like they KNEW that going into the media would piss the killer off and maybe make him come out of his hiding...Which is exactly what had happened...So maybe Elle was a bait...I mean I don't think the team is stupid enough to let her go home knowing that this killer knows where every single member of the team lives...That's too dangerous...Even Hotch had his wife and baby stay at the hotel because it's so dangerous...just like Gideon talked about how he no longer had a place to go to in order to escape all the chaos in his life...The clues are there. I can almost guarantee that it's all a set up...Our team is too smart to let one of their own go home in such danger!
Also Elle was definitely NOT acting like herself on the vacation when she was dancing with that guy! It did look like she was drugged as someone said on this board! She also looked exhausted and was very cranky in the morning when the police arrested her. Maybe that dark haired guy WAS the killer! Or an accomplice! Plus where did that guy go? I mean I thought Elle and that guy spent the night together! But the guy just disappeared in the thin air...Also there was something strange about Morgan's buddy who HELPED them get the rooms...Hmmm...Lots of clues, guys!
Also remember at the beginning of the episode, Reid said that his mom had always said that it was like her son was on his different adventures...hmm...and then later the killer said that it was the start of an adventure! Perhaps a clue? I mean it was weird how Reid talked about his mom using the same word to describe her son's job...hmmm...and the young one holds the key, that could also be interpreted as a metaphorical clue...like how he not only literally has the key but also is the key to solve the puzzle...We need to know more about his mom...And why he did not want to see her...
GREAT episode! I LOVED it! And I am not worried about Elle at all even though she is my favorite character...She won't be harmed...It is too early to kill one of the main characters...The question is who will save her? I bet it's definitely one of her teammates...
GideonsGirlAnanke - May 11, 2006 05:59 PM (GMT)
Some extremely good points, there -- especially with the whole media thing.
And I was wondering why the UnSub went after Elle when he was clearly growling at J.J. during the press conference!
--------------
Besides Elle's dance partner being a suspect, I think Garcia's gaming buddy might also make the suspect list (if he's not the same person!)
After all, the last message on the wall was in Old English (as her partner was speaking during the game) and he started talking about a quest (like a gamer would).
Plus, it would only make sense for Gamer Guy to be everything Garcia ever wanted in a man while he was figuring out how to get into the system and get the information he wanted. And when he was done, he tossed her aside like a piece of garbage and slipped a virus into her system just to torture her!
------------
Any other information to add to the UnSub board, mes amis?

Hi,
I missed the last five minutes. I saw the arm and the gun but couldn't hear what was being said and didn't know a shot rang out. Can someone tell me what he was saying?
greenleo - May 11, 2006 08:25 PM (GMT)
Great points about the game! I also noticed that the game was set in this sort of medieval times...Interesting...
I belive that the killer was a patient or a staff member or maybe a doctor at the sanitarium where Reid's mom is...
I am starting a new thread at the gossip section titled Who is the Killer Speculation...So please go over there...I have everything explained...I believe that I cracked this case...not sure though....
Here is the thread, check it out...it's a LONG post....with a lot of explanation!

I loved this episode. It was informative without dragging and now I have a few questions... ::grin:: Or maybe more like observations on the clues...
1) 'The youngest holds the key, help him save her...' I think this says it all. This is about Reid. The medievil 'quest', his mother being a 15th century professor, the whole King Arthur/sword in the stone (or body in this case) feel. So far Reid is the one with all or most of the knowledge of terms. I also think that the book they need to solve the code is whatever book Reid read (of his mother's?) that started him on his job into the FBI - that started Reid on his 'adventures' his mother writes about in her journals. Find that book and you'll have the key to the code. Otherwise why would the unsub use that term?
Is this some sort of quest engineered specifically for Spencer? Is that why only his team is allowed to navigate the quest?
2) The baseball card I'll admit has me stumped. So does the butterfly. The only thing I can see is a personal connection the unsub is trying to make or highlight with Gideon and JJ. Though the butterfly does send us back to Great Britain...
3) The unsub made no move to make a personal connection with Elle, Morgan or Hotch - only Gideon, Reid and JJ. Why? Garcia you could argue for or against personal with the hacking into the FBI computers via her laptop...
4) Why go after Elle? Why not Gideon (who arranged the press conferance) or JJ (who lead it)? Except that Elle was vulnerabale...
Anyone else have any ideas? Who is Rebecca Bryant? Why was there a pink bow/ribbon found in the hair in the box? Why does the unsub sound as if he sincerely wants them to at least have a chance at finding and saving her?

I don't know specifically what the UnSub said, Unicorn...all I know is that he was basically bitching her out for having a press conference.
GideonsGirlAnanke - May 11, 2006 11:41 PM (GMT)
I was going to suggest that someone write down the code, so that we could pick up a copy of the book and figure it out ourselves.
Except for the fact that Marjory Kemp lived in the time of Christine de Pisan (think Joan of Arc's era), so we'd play holy hell trying to get it.
Anyone know any collectors of ancient literature that we can pester?

Let's see...
1.) I completely agree with you on everything...This is about Reid..and his mom being a 15th century professor is NOT just a coincidence...He holds the key! Great analysis!
2.) JJ was Reid's big crush during the first few episodes! And Gideon is Reid's sort of father figure...Maybe Reid included the fact that JJ used to collect butterflies and that Gideon's hero was that baseball guy...Remember, Reid had no problem identifying the butterfly...Also the killer said "go back to the very beginning"...hmm...Childhood, perhaps...JJ and Gideon need to go to their past?
3.) You cannot find really personal things such as Gideon's childhood hero in Garcia's computer...Not possible...Only their addresses and biographies...that sort of info...So I still think the killer got most of his info from Reid's letters and Reid's mom's journals...
4.) Elle was the easy target...She went home alone, SUPPOSEDLY...I still think Gideon set it all up to get the killer out of hiding! For the killer, it was easier to get to her rather than the rest of the team that were all together at work...
The killer is playing a game with them...he is totally toying with their knowledge...It's all about "adventure"...The girl was missing for two years so the kille had all that time to make the plan...I believe he was a patient or a doctor or a nurse at the sanitarium where Reid's mom is...and then somehow during her "bad" days, she probably attacked him and injured him..hence, that's why he looks physically unhealthy...I think she talked to him a lot...and that's why he knows so much...So now he is toying with her son...sending him on "another adventure"...probably for revenge? I still think Reid looked like he was even afraid to see his mom...
EDIT: this is the code we need to focus on:
118.30.03
It was emphasized...
frog786 - May 12, 2006 12:25 AM (GMT)
What was the name of the book that Reid gave his mom-- maybe I can procure a copy of it if I try hard enough.... I have access to all the University libraries in Ontario.
greenleo - May 12, 2006 12:28 AM (GMT)
Apparently there is a book called "The Book of Margery Kempe"..I think this is the book with all the answers...I read some of the excerpts and one of them talks about a head that was cut with a sword...And in the book, Margery refers to herself as the "creature"...It's like she is possessed by a demon...Just like Reid's mom is perhaps...It also talks about a mother being forsaken and abandoned by her child...hmmm...perhaps like Reid's mom was abandoned by him...
Here is the link:
http://www.luminarium.org/medlit/kempebk.htmAlso check this out:
http://www.lib.rochester.edu/camelot/teams/kempint.htmHere is the entire book:
http://www.lib.rochester.edu/camelot/teams/staley.htmhttp://www.holycross.edu/departments/visar...e/text/main.htmLOL...I don't think we would be able to crack the code...The book is difficult to read...
GideonsGirlAnanke - May 12, 2006 02:50 AM (GMT)
We wouldn't have to read the book...Just copy down the code and go to the indicated spots to get the words...
And if Frog can get a copy of The Book of Margery Kempe, we may be able to learn a lot from the code!
frog786 - May 12, 2006 02:54 AM (GMT)
Im sure I can get that book-- but why exactly do we think its that book again?
I didn't replay the show again to see if Reid mentioned the book title- but I was thinking back.. and I remember him saying that his mom used to be a 15th Century Literature Professor. So that had me searching famous 1400 books.... which led me to 2 books it has the possibility of being-- well 3 but I just can't see Reid giving it to his Mom... ok.. and they are
1) Canterbury Tales (1410) by Chaucer
2) Morte d'Arthur (1485) by Thomas Malory (this started the King Arthur thing)
and then
3) The Bible first got printed in the 1400s... but this is the one I don't think is likely.
frog786 - May 12, 2006 02:58 AM (GMT)
and as for the first book.. was it only printed at one time.. or is there more than one version (meaning.. printing).. should I aim for the oldest I can find?
GideonsGirlAnanke - May 12, 2006 02:59 AM (GMT)
Actually, I realized that it couldn't be that specific book that Reid was talking about, but anyway...
~)~
Frog, we think the works of Margery Kempe might hold clues as to what's going on because she was the author that was mentioned (by Reid) in last night's episode.
frog786 - May 12, 2006 03:24 AM (GMT)
ok.. I'll look for a copy then... perhaps tomorrow after I get off work I'll do a little driving and searching
frog786 - May 12, 2006 03:49 AM (GMT)
Well everyone.. I've done my duty- that took less time than I thought it would to find them
I have a copy of the book coming
I have a copy of the translated book coming
I have a guide to the book coming
and I have a modern edition of the book coming
So... 4 different Universities are sending me 4 different books.. they should arrive early next week.

Reid did not mention the name of the book which leads me to believe that it's The Book of Margery Kempe...Since that's all he said when he handed that staff member the copy of the book...I'm sure that if it were another book, he would have said the name...I think he did not say the name because it's also author's name...Anyway, this is the book she is known for...It's her most popular work...So it has to be it...

I totally agree with your inwsight. The " youngest does hold the key" and considering his mother's profession and the sword in the stone body......
Can't quite figure out the deal with the cabin- the thing about nothing and no place being safe has to figure into it also. Oh, well, looks like we have all summer to figure it out.
Also agree with the comments on the lack of chemistry with the woman in the cabin. It didn't quite fit either.

Not to mention that I thought Gideon's lady was not good looking at all! It looked like she had a wig! LOL...
And as for Gideon's "safe place"...He was just upset that the killer took away the "only" place Gideon was able to go to in order to be alone and have some time to himself. I don't think there is more to it than that.

Hi there! I am new here, just joined tonight after FINALLY watching the show on my DVR. I had noticed that no one mentioned the possiblity that Garcia may not be with the show much longer.
I mean after all, she is the one who messed up and allowed the FK access to the info about everyone in the first place!
Wouldn't that be a good way to throw everyone off???
frog786 - May 18, 2006 03:21 AM (GMT)
Ok.. so 3/4 books have arrived at my university library for pickup.. the last is being shipped as we speak.. so.. I'll probably pick them up after I get off work tomorrow... and then we can search :D
GideonsGirlAnanke - May 18, 2006 08:30 PM (GMT)
I know she screwed up, but why would anyone in their right mind want to get rid of Garcia?!
