Title: Episode of the week - Week #5
Description: Broken Mirror

I love this show! - February 4, 2008 12:23 PM (GMT)
Who got a chance to watch this episode? I love this one! :D (but when do I not say that about a season one episode?)

I think my favorite part of this one is when they are listening to the call from the unsub and he ends up profiling the rest of the team. I caught something that I hadn't thought about before (probably because it's changed in the show now) He tells Hotch that he wants to be FBI director and would walk over Gideon to get there. I just thought that was interesting because it gave the impression that Gideon was the leader of the team and in charge over the team. I think we all knew in season one that Gideon was the main character and all but I had always thought technically Hotch had always been the unit chief. And it also sort of hinted that Gideon was trying to figure out Reid and his "autistic" leanings. This is the only time they've ever said Reid was autistic and have given a possible reason for his genius.

But I loved the tension and suspense of that whole scene. Actually both of the phone scenes. After they save Cheryl from being kidnapped too and Gideon starts playing games back with the unsub.....it's great!

Really great episode!

Yes, we always say how much we love these episodes but they are so great! This is definitely one of my favourites :D It was exciting watching it again. Season one just gets better and better! It's a common complaint but I miss that team bond these guys had. Writers, get back to this style of episode!

Trish and Chery were pretty good (I like Elizabeth Harnois, did anyone see her in Point Pleasant?), although Cheryl (and her dad) were annoying at times. I hate it when the families get all hysterical! When Evan was yelling at Gideon, I just wanted to give him a smack and tell him to trust the expert  Yeah, maybe I get a little too involved sometimes.

The freakiest part of the episode for me was when Trish and her boyfriend got out the car. I know I always end up screaming at the victims but this time I really, really wanted to scream ;) I hate cars in the dark  I expected something to happen when the boyfriend peered in the car window but the worst part was when they got back to the car and the keys were missing - uh oh! On the subject of cars, I want Cheryl's car but in lime green! When Cheryl got out the car I really thought they'd let her go. It was another shriek at the TV moment because it seemed so obvious he was just after Cheryl! Did they really just figure that out then?

I didn't guess who the unsub was until he came into Cheryl's room. Overall, I liked the plot a lot, although I didn't realise the BAU got called out just for a kidnap. Was that more to do with the fact the father was well known? Don't they have crisis negotiators for that sort of thing?

The top secret date gets mentioned! Was it really so awful that they decided not to talk about it? Or maybe JJ and Reid have been having a secret relationship all along... Hey, where was JJ in this episode? And Garcia? At least the episode was interesting enough so I didn't miss them too much.

I know I have said it before but Hotch seems so much lighter in these early episodes, he even talks a little about his personal life! He doesn't seem as authoratitive, it is easy to see why some people thought Gideon was team leader. I suppose unofficially he was... Thank gosh we only ended up with one Haley scene! I really don't like her. Irritating woman <_<

I enjoyed seeing Morgan do his roleplay. It's great how he does that. The best part though was when the team got profiled. I didn't get why the comment was made about Hotch stepping on Gideon to reach the top. I never got the impression that Gideon wanted to be anywhere but the BAU. Why would Hotch need to step on Gideon to help him become director  ? I always saw Hotch as the ambitious one, not Gideon. With everything that has happened to Hotch since then, I wonder if he has given up on his dream of being director. I know he said this season he wouldn't want to be anywhere but the BAU...I also loved the part where Gideon keeps hanging up on the unsub. He's so self assured! Every scene with Gideon in this episode was wonderful.

Another favourite scene is the one where Reid tells Morgan he doesn't know everything and Morgan says "I never said that." Then the team point out that he says it all the time  Cute! And of course Reid is always adorable spewing out his facts and statistics. It was nice to get at least a partial reason for Reid's genius and his bad social skills. Has his autism ever been mentioned much again? I liked watching him type away on the computer :)

Wow, look how fast Reid can read! "Yes, I can actually read that fast." I love the way he says that. His hair is so awful though! Bless ;)

Something that seemed a little odd to me was the scene with the orange. It made me smile but are they supposed to take food from people's houses?! And who shares an orange?! They surely could have had one each...

Elle is awesome again! I love that woman  She definitely deserves her place in the "boys club." I expected the unsub to notice when Elle came in the room, great scene where she kicked his ass! These episodes remind me just how amazing Elle was. I also love that scene where she says there is nothing she'd rather do that put the bastards away. Very Elle, it says a lot about her character and is one of my favourite Elle quotes.

Poor Morgan :( I was worried for him when I saw him lying on the floor. Thank gosh for that finger twitch so we know he's not dead ;)

I loved the ending! I was into Elle/Morgan when I first saw this eppy so this was a shippy moment for me! Even now, I still love that scene. Those two had great chemistry. Great body btw Shemar!

Yes, Pam, you're always saying how much you love season 1. They were great episodes though.

This episode is one of my favorites. I really think it was well done all-around.

My favorite moment was when Ried said " I mean i don't know everything despite the fact you think i do" and Morgan says he never said that and then Hotch and Elle point out that he says it all the time.

I really liked Morgan's role play in this one. That's one thing i really like about his character. the way Cheryl reacted to it was great too and then Elle explaining to her why he does that.

I majorly miss Elle and this one reminded me of some of the reasons why:
1. her line about putting the bastards away- so like her
2. the part when she totally kicked the unsubs butt
3. when she offered to help Morgan with his files at the end........
I could go on forever but i won't

I like this one. Especially the phone call, where the UnSub starts profiling them. It just seems so 'team' like. If that makes sense! :P Plus, this was a good episode, Elle-wsie. Its where I first became a Elle fan, she seemed so...human (?) in this one.

REID:  I don't know everything.  I mean, despite the fact that you think that I
do.
MORGAN:  I never said that.  When have I ever said that?
REID:  Every day since I met you.
ELLE:  (adds)  This morning at breakfast.
HOTCHNER:  (without missing a beat)  Yesterday when he beat you at cards.  Um
... we've got one minute.
(Hotchner turns and heads back to the living room.)
MORGAN:  Anybody ever heard of sarcasm?
(Morgan, Reid and Elle follow him out of the kitchen.)
REID/ELLE:  (both)  Mm-hmm.

*dies* I love you Rach!!!!!!! :D

I love the end bit, purely because I had no idea who the UnSub was, and normally I can work it out. So good!!! Plus, Elle kicked his ass! Awesome!

I really liked this episode, but for a while I could have sworn Elizabeth Harnois was another actress. Any of you ever heard of Rachel Nichols? She looks a lot like her.

No JJ or Garcia, but I don't think the intensity of this episode would have worked well with Garcia's one liners (*gasp!* There's a wrong time for Garcia's one liners? ;)). And as for the mysterious date with JJ and Reid, I saw an interview with AJ where she said she thinks the writers probably got scared about going down that route so soon into the series. And I guess that's logical. In season one you're busy establishing yourself as a show, you wait to bring that stuff in during your second season, if you're lucky enough to get one.

About the Reid being autistic thing, that's one thing that has ALWAYS pissed me off about TV shows. Nobody wants to protray autistics the proper way. They all feed the stereotypes. Yes, most savants are autistic, but a very small percentage of autistics are savants. It is possible for Reid to be autistic, given his anti-socialness, but I just wish that Hollywood writers would stop using that over and over again like a scapegoat. The only time I've seen autism played out properly was on an episode of House with an autistic patient. That's reality. The shows should try that once in a while.

They did a good job hiding the Unsub until the end, although the first shot of him at the safehouse, where he told Morgan he'd check the permimeter, made me realize it was him and had me thinking it was a little obvious. Just in the previous scene Gideon had said that they needed to keep Cheryl's contact with other agents to a minimum because one of them was the Unsub, and then what do they do? Turn around and shove more agents at her!!! Not the smartest idea if you ask me.

And yes, I screamed at the image of my Morgey lying on the ground, passed out. I knew he would be okay, but still. No fun. I did, however, like the scene with him and Elle. If I wasn't such a big Morgan/Krissy shipper I would probably be a Morgan/Elle shipper. They're sweet together. And I noticed the file thing, how he gave her more than half, and I was wondering if she'd notice it too. She did! Very cute. ;)

I don't hate Haley like most of you, but I'm glad they cut her extra scene. It just didn't seem like there was a good place for it. It would have interrupted the rhythm.

Overall, great episode. Probably one of my favourites. ;)
