Title: Episode of the week - Week #4
Description: Plain sight
I love this show! - January 28, 2008 11:17 AM (GMT)
Another great episode! I think I say it every week but I love the season one episodes!!! This one had some good suspense....the guy breaking into the house and turning the dripping faucet off was creepy! And we didn't know who the unsub was. I liked how they determined the one attack wasn't connected to the guy they were looking for but then used it to help catch the real unsub. *side note* I have to say I liked how they got the point across that they were looking for a rapist but we didn't have to listen to or see any of the gruesome details - I liked it when the episodes weren't so graphic but it didn't take away at all from the story! The ending was also very dramatic when the lady is feeding her baby and turns around to see the unsub feeding the child....and then when Gideon is sneaking down the hall and the floor is creaking....I loved it!
This was a classic Reid episode!! His birthday party with the hat! Too funny! What was that dress and hairdo JJ had? (I don't think either made her look very attractive....I mean for her! She's gorgeous all the time!) Then Reid's lines about "is that why I can't get a date?" and Elle asks him if he's ever asked anyone out....the look on his face is priceless! And he had another great line with the "looking for a needle in a particular pile of needles" Garcia also had some great lines in this one too "Speak O fortunate one" It was so nice to get some funny lines worked in too. And then of course the ending was great with Reid beating Gideon in chess and the "football date" that we don't get to hear. I really miss the Gideon as a father-figure to Reid dynamic.
Another thought.....I liked the background music in this episode.
How can we get it across to the writers that we want these kinds of episodes back? I am convinced it wasn't Mandy that made these episodes so great. He was the featured character, and not to take anything away from him because he's a great actor, but I think it was the writing...I think any of the actors could pull it off - they have in other episodes!

this is probably one of my fav episodes...of reid...:)

I loved this episode too. I agree with Pam, it was nice that we got the point but didn't have to see the gruesome details. The episode worked just fine for me that way, there's no need for all that stuff they throw in now. But we probably can't do much to get this kind of episode back; since when have the writers ever listened to the fans? *le sigh*
I also hated JJ's hair, but I liked the wrap dress. Only women of a certain figure can wear them (meaning people like me with stomachs that make them look like they're pregnant can't) and AJ's got that body type. I liked it.
It was also really good on the suspense part. I swear for a second I was convinced it was that cop that drove by while Elle and Gideon were sitting there. I just thought, "that doesn't happen, and when odd stuff happens there's usually a reason", but I was wrong, as usual. I guess there's a reason I'll never be a profiler. ;)
Reid's birthday was adorable. But question: how do you extinguish those trick candles? And of course the chess game, do you think Gideon let him win? It's the only time he beats him, right? Although I'm not a JJ/Reid shipper, I thought the football tickets thing was cute too. See, it's that kind of behaviour, Gideon buying Reid those tickets for his birthday and telling him to go ask JJ, that's the kind of thing I want to see from Rossi and probably won't warm to him until I do. Maybe a birthday present is asking for too much too fast, but something along those lines would be nice. Anyhoo, I loved Reid's face when he looked at the tickets. He was like, "The Red Who?"

alrighty then. Lets just start off by saying that the end of this episode is like the highlight of CM for me :P . I love the show now, but this was when CM was still trying to become its own thing so they were pulling out all the stops. It was creepy, but not gross and suspenseful, but still really clever. And this episode actually gave JJ something to do for the first time.
Give JJ a break. Even girls like her are allowed to have one bad day. . She's made up for it in the next episodes right?
"looking for a needle in a particular pile of needles" lol! i loved it when right after he says that, he goes and fiddles around with the binoculars, leaving Morgan to stare at him with a  expression.
"She's the only person in the world who calls me 'Spence'". SEE! they're SO meant for each other. She even gave him a nickname  Alright i'll admit, it was still probably too early in the series to develop a relationship, but that doesn't mean they can't do it noooow :).
and the football tickets! can't you see JJ cheering on her (losing..ahem) Redskins with Reid just standing there having no idea whats going on?...Or calculating all the statistics and stuff?...i really want to know what happened on that date!

Okay, wait, I'm gonna be Reid here. Are the Redskins an actual team? Where are they from? :ph43r:

 Yes Reid....they are a real team. It's the Washington Redskins (Washington DC)

How did I know you'd love this ep ac? :P
I loved this ep. In some ways, it was slightly more 'light hearted' without losing it's gripping drama. First of,f we had 'Spence's' Birthday party. So cute! Especially the candles! 'Aw, Momma to the rescue' 'Momma?' :D Such a great line.
Secondly, all the characters had this 'light hearted' feel, without it feeling soap opera-ish. Mainly with Reid this ep, but it was still good. More like character building.
But the UnSub parts were creepy. Like the bit at the end, with the baby. Ergh, atht creeps me out! I was babysitting my cousin when I was re-watchign this in the summer, and I sorta clutched at her (she wasn't having any of it!) and told her no strange UnSubs were allowed to feed her. I think she go tme!
And the floor creaking was pure genius! We've all been there, whether it's trying to sneakily listen to a conversation, or sneak out, or downstairs or whatever, there's always that one damn floorboard!
And I loved the whole date thing! Still waiting for gossip on that though! *pouts*

You know, in my house you can hear people coming up and down the stairs from behind a closed bedroom door, so I've always found it odd that the team can go into a house and not make a sound. On the other hand, my dad is a lot heavier than the profilers.....
That's cute Jemma. Glad your cousin knows not to let Unsubs feed her now. ;)

I quite enjoyed this episode. I just adored Reid's hat so much I had to go out and buy a similar one
I want to know what happened on that date too! I always imagine it as him standing there quoting statistics and rambling on about random trivia while JJ tries to enjoy the game! Why did it have to be top secret? ;)
I found this episode a bit creepy. It made me really aware of things in the house being so loud that I would have no clue if someone was breaking in. Okay, so my dogs would bark and they are really loud but still...I just hated how the unsub got them in their homes! When the woman is doing her exercise video and the unsub is making his way towards the bedroom, I wanted to scream at her to go lock the door or something! And the scene where the lady turns and sees him feeding her baby is even worse. This episode did nothing to help my paranoia!
Reid is so cute in this episode. I love how he wonders why he can't get a date. I also thought Elle was really good, especially when she's talking to Mrs.Gordon. I think Gideon probably decided to let Reid win at chess ;)

I love that line!
And yes, how do you extinguish those trick candles?
ac5000 - February 3, 2008 06:30 PM (GMT)
you either have to dunk em in water or let them burn out.
Yea, this whole episode i was screaming at all the women!!! Criminal Minds has just made me afraid to leave Blake sitting somewhere in the house or staying in a room by myself with the door closed! People start to think im a freak when i go on about making sure the music isn't too loud or stuff like that.
the Momma line...lol. It's so true though. JJ completely baby's him...(in a cute 'girlfriendish' sort of way :D )
