hey, I am writing this songtext and well it misses something you know…so I'm asking for some advice :D

What I've got is:

Why walk in the shadow if there also is the sun?
How to feel so finished when you're nowhere close to done?
Is it easy to feel hopeless?
Is it easy to feel lost?
You should live your life forever,
You should live it at all cost.

Do you remember the ways you smile?
Do you remember the fire, the light?
And it's fine and it's all great,
When you remember the person kept inside.

Let someone else be that person,
The person you're not meant to be,
Being the one that feels like you,
It's the way of being free.

And you don't have to be a hero,
And you don't have to be a fool,
As long as you can feel,
As long you've the feeling of being real.

I've changed it a little bit, added more to it mostly…I like it more now, I recorded myself while singing it, so that way is the best to find flaws and change them if you ask me, still isn't a masterpiece (a real great song is 'If I could' from Jack Johnson, everyone, download it it's so great!!!!! He knows how to make lyrics!), but it's better now…

I made a song, which I'm pretty thrilled about (the song, not the subject), it's about that my mom since she came home thursday has been telling my dad, and brother and me all the time, that my uncle didn't know what to get me because I'm so weird, which I was like 'what the f*ck, I like almost every gift, as long as it doesn't have leather or meat, that's pretty much my only standard' but my mom keeps telling me, that I'm so weird and that she never understands me, and well, I hardly ever cry and my brother hardly ever tells my mom to shut up, but today both things happened and my dad was seriously pissed at my mom, telling her that he doesn't wanna hear another thing.
And later I heard her again talking about me down stairs in a discussion with my dad that I always do exactly the wrong things, and then I started crying again and I just wrote a song, since music and art is my way to cope with stuff.

Well…the good thing is, I already recorded the first try so I already have the melody in my head.

The problem with songs towards my mom (and I have three…one is really really sad, so I don't like that one very much, it holds memories of one of the worst times in my life, one I made when I was in a funny mood and had a fight with my mom and brother and this one) is that if she hears it and well…knows what they're about (since she's horrible at english she might think they're really good and really pretty and not know that they're directed at her) then it will hurt her and the last thing I ever wanna do is hurt her. :(
BTW…sometimes she's the best mom in the whole wide world…

I concur with Jemma. Also Luna, writing is (in my opinion) one of the best forms of therapy. All songwriters need to write about the bad stuff in their lives, and the families know that. Sometimes you need to just let it out. And remember, you aren't just defined by the bad times, you can write songs about the good ones too. ;)

I agree with Krissy (Can ya see a pattern here?! ;)) You need to let it out sometimes, whether it's with a journal, or with fanart, or putting your fist through a wall, or writing etc. Whatever helps you deal with the crud taht comes towards you, then you've got to do it. Otherwise you'll go nuts.

But I wouldn't suggest the fist through wall thing, 'cause y'know, that would just hurt. ;) :lol:
