Title: Are you homophobic?
Special Agent Jentzer - November 5, 2007 03:38 PM (GMT)
Just wondering what you all think...Kirsten is openly gay...god forbid someone said Shemar was at a gay beach...Lola G has been seen kissing a women in a few differant roles...
Garcia44 - November 5, 2007 04:01 PM (GMT)
I voted NO because I am not homophobic. I've never thought of homosexuality as something I could "catch" if I got too close to a gay man or a lesbian .. that's so ridiculous it's laughable .. and so very sad. I have friends and family who are gay, lesbian & bi .. I treat them no differently that I do any straight friends & family and I love them with all my heart because they are my friends and family. Homophobia is just another form of bigotry to me. Just another excuse some people have to treat their fellow human being badly.
JulieFan - November 5, 2007 05:03 PM (GMT)
I never knew Kirsten was a lesbian! She plays Garcia right?
Well I consider myself 100% not homophobic. My uncle is a bit homophobic, he doesn't like to watch Will & Grace because there is a gay character in there
Luna - November 5, 2007 05:46 PM (GMT)
I'm not homophobic, I always think that gaycouples seem extremely cute together (also straight couples, couples in general actually) and even though I never really fallen for another girl if I would I wouldn't mind one bit.
I think it would be fun if one of the characters on criminal minds would be gay, seven characters…one has to be gay or bi right? ;) (not that two are and get a relationship together, just that it's mentioned slightly in a episode or so)
I did know that Kirsten had a girlfriend, good for her, I hope she's a great person.
Rach112 - November 5, 2007 06:20 PM (GMT)
I voted no, a few of my best friends are gay and it's definitely not something that bothers me! I've never had a problem with people being gay. Sadly, I know plenty people who are homophobic.
ILoveReed1988 - November 5, 2007 07:40 PM (GMT)
i voted no..ive never been and will never be homophobic..i have friend and family relatives who are gay and lesbian that is just sooo mean to be homophobic..
Linda06 - November 5, 2007 08:08 PM (GMT)
I wouldn't say i'm homophobic but i do get a little uncomfortable when i see them kissing,i can't watch a show when 2 women or guys are kissing on screen, but i really couldn't care less if people are gay or straight, what i don't like is when they feel the need to shove it in our faces with marches and blowing whistles, that's what i don't like...I mean you don't see straight people marching through the streets telling everyone they're straight..
Sorry if i rambled on a bit, that's just how i feel!
JulieFan - November 5, 2007 08:24 PM (GMT)
I can't stand people kissing on screen :P it doesn't matter if they are female or male :P
Amanda, you better not come to Amsterdam when it's the gay parade :P
I love this show! - November 5, 2007 11:01 PM (GMT)
I don't consider myself to be homophobic.....As most of you probably know I don't support gay marriage but that doesn't mean I hate gay people! I think Garcia44 stated it very well.

I had no idea Kirsten was gay.
Linda06 - November 5, 2007 11:10 PM (GMT)
See that's what i don't get,why have gay parades,if they want to be gay then be gay but they don't have to shout it from the rooftops and ram it down our throats....I don't want anyone taking this the wrong way cause i've got nothing against gay people,i would speak to anybody gay or straight and i would actually trust a gay person before i trust a straight person but i just don't understand why they have to have gay marches, you never see straight people having marches and telling everybody!
Kyle - November 5, 2007 11:26 PM (GMT)
Well, I am obviously not homophobic as I myself am gay!!!
Trust me.. Being gay is not a choice as people think. People think "people are becoming gay because they think it is cool." um... No. Not at all. The reason we see a "rise in homosexuals" is not because there are more homosexuals.. There are just more OPEN homosexuals..
I really hate it when people say "this world is becoming gay" or saying "one day she will turn gay" and all that crap. Because you do not just "turn" gay!
for as long as I can remember, I have been attracted to guys. But just because I like someone of my own gender, it still does not make me a bad person or a completely different person. People make it sound as if being gay is all your life.. It is not! It is a small part of it. For me, being gay is totally normal. Because I did not choose it. It is just normal!
One does not have to support gay marriage, and that is ok.. Obviously religion has a role in that.
But, one should never be homophobic and hate someone just because they are gay.. Now that is ridiculous!
Thankfully not one person on here is homophobic(as of the votes!)

Well yeah, but please realize that most gay people do not participate in these gay parades. I myself could never see myself waving rainbow flags lol
Do realize though that when one is oppressed, they generally grow in pride. I mean before WW2 Zionism was sparse.. Chabad, and the chief rabbi's of many cities did not support a Zionist state! But after WW2 its support grew majorly. Same could be said about many different people.
So please, do not think that all gay people participate in these silly gay parades. I certainly don't. In my opinion, they only add on to the stereotype. I mean if someone likes that subculture you see at gay parades, then I am totally fine with that. nothing wrong with that. But to put the label "gay" on it presses it too far, as most homosexuals are not like that. Even the metro homosexuals hate such!
ILoveReed1988 - November 6, 2007 12:42 AM (GMT)
well i think gay's and lesbians have a right to have a parade ....i mean its hard for them people always jugdeing them..i dont jugde them i support gay marriages..and i dont judge people because their gay or anything like that...
ac5000 - November 6, 2007 12:47 AM (GMT)
honestly, my religion goes against gay marriages and stuff, but personally, they're just people...no different than if a guy and a girl got married. I just dont see what the BIG DEAL is...
ILoveReed1988 - November 6, 2007 01:12 AM (GMT)
me neither..it isnt a big deal as if a man and women got married..they love each other ...and wanna show their love for each other
paolafromparis - November 6, 2007 08:59 AM (GMT)
I'm a big fan of slash.... :P
Ok, more seriously: I live in a gay world, my boss is gay and he is the best boss in the world, a large part of my collegues are gay and my best friend is gay. When I knew my husband at school years ago, I was convinced he was gay. (well, it was before marring him) MGG is not gay, but at the beginning I REALLY thought he was and I thought he was outrageously hot, anyway.
So what? Gay, straight, blond, brown, no difference for me...
I am pretty convinced I'm not homophobic...
have a look....
it took me THREE months to make this up...LOLOLOLOL!!!!

I love to watch the gayparade's :P it's funny only a bit stupid how everybody then thinks every gay man/women is like that :P.
ILoveReed1988 - November 6, 2007 03:00 PM (GMT)
ive never been to one..id love to see their parade's
JulieFan - November 6, 2007 03:39 PM (GMT)
There is this union in Holland, the Christian Union and they think gay people shouldn't be candidate for a public function in politics. Too bad they are in our government.
The union I hate is the union leaded by Geert Wilders. He's a big racist.
Linda06 - November 6, 2007 06:59 PM (GMT)
I don't have any problem with people being gay or straight ,i just don't see the point of parades telling everyone but like you said Kyle it's only a minority that participate in it....I am not Religious whatsoever so if 2 people want to be together and care about each other a great deal they should be no matter what sex they are,my Uncle is very good friends with a gay couple and he says they're the 2 nicest people you'll ever likely to meet...
You also don't become gay overnight,it's probably the same as being straight,it's always been there but alot of people are more open to it now so there isn't a stigma attached to being gay as there used to be,i mean they're just human beings like the rest of us and as the saying goes we should love our fellow Man!
ILoveReed1988 - November 6, 2007 08:05 PM (GMT)
yea...!!! i mean i have a close friend that gay's he's wonderful...!! dont jusge people for that reason...dont judge people at all in my book..i dont jusge anyone
JulieFan - November 6, 2007 08:10 PM (GMT)
And some ignorant people seem to think that if a gay couple adopts a child he/she will become gay too. That's the most stupid thing I have ever heard :P
Linda06 - November 6, 2007 08:47 PM (GMT)
Yeah,it's not a disease...You can't make someone gay, some people are so silly!
ILoveReed1988 - November 6, 2007 08:50 PM (GMT)
that is stupid..you cant make people gay..it just its like being straight u have always been and will be ..you cant change them!

ILoveReed1988 - November 7, 2007 02:12 AM (GMT)
that is soooo tru Linda..:) i had a huge huge crush on this guy turns out he was gay...sucked for me..now were great friends!
sandersidle - November 15, 2007 01:15 AM (GMT)
HELL NO. There's nothing wrong with being a homosexual. You can't help it. You can't CHOOSE to be gay or a lesbian. It's the way you were born so why should you be put down for that? It's the same with different races too. Easy as that.
Oh, and I'm catholic, by the way.
I'm a bit of a slash fan, too. Not really on tv or anything, none of those slash pairings caught my eye but these two guys are in a band and they do... I guess homosexual stuff on stage like kiss each other on the cheek and stuff. Because they want to make a point that there's nothing wrong with being gay or bi. I admire them for that a lot and I happen to think they're kind of maybe cute together. ^_^ lmao.
ILoveReed1988 - November 15, 2007 03:15 AM (GMT)
Frank And Geard do that too..onstage......have you notced that sandlesidle
CriminalMind - November 15, 2007 08:03 PM (GMT)
I'm 100% not homophobic. I've got a mate who's only just come out to his mum, and a lot of people (although he kinda came out in secret, if taht makes sense? We all knew he was gay, and fine with it, but he didn't confirm it).
It's a shame though, because a few of my mates are a bit pratty about it, and tell homophobic jokes and things, and it's so sad, I really pity them. They can't see past their bigitory and see that 'hey gay people are normal people! Way, shocking that!' *head desk*
ILoveReed1988 - November 15, 2007 08:29 PM (GMT)
i hate it when people are afraid 2 say that were gay because of what other people will think..people are soo closed minded

Geert Wilders is horrible! He calls himself a liberal (or at least he called his party the party of freedom) but he only is for freedom for himself with his idea's to prohibid the Koran and those kind of stuff and with the idea to get rid of our first civilright: everyone is equal by law, you can't get rid of the first civilright! (sorry for all you guys, this really doesn't have much to do with the subject, since he has a problem with people who's families come from foreign countries, but I kinda hate the guy)
I personally don't see a reason why gaymarriage shouldn't be accepted, marriage is supposed to be about love, nothing else and why would it be bad for anyone if two men or two women got married? I really don't see the problem…as long as they're in love and both grown up it's all good right?
I also can't see a problem with two men or two women adopting a child, every family is unique, would be a bit boring if we had millions of the same families, so as long as a child is loved and cared for…
(you know what's funny and has absolutly nothing to do with the subject? I once read that in some African country there's this law on couple adoption that there combined age has to at least 28 years old…so what both of the parents are fourteen? )
And about the gayparade…I once went to one and it was fun. :P
I don't really know if I in the case that I would be gay (which I don't think is the case, but hey, who knows) would really be interested in 'coming out of the closeth' as in going around telling everyone that I'm gay, I mean a straigth person doesn't go around telling everyone 'I'm straigth' right? I wouldn't hide it, but well I think that for who we fall hasn't all that much to do with who we are as a person, so why the need to shout it of the top of the roofs? If someone hits on you or you hit on someone you find out soon enough those kind of things

lmfao. That's who I was talking about. <33
I think gay marriage should be accepted. Marriage is the union between two people in love. So what if the two people are both men or women? It's wrong to stop two people in love from getting to join together.
CalleighElleDakota - December 15, 2007 08:52 AM (GMT)
As far as I can judge it is nothing else than weird to have something like "homophobia" - I mean, first of all should everyone have the right to love the person he/she loves. Feelings are totally not rational - nobody can controll how he/she feels for a specific person. And, hello - we live in the 21st century, shouldn't we have realised by now that homosexuality isn't a disease - even in the Ancient Greek and the Roman Empire lived people who were gay - it was (as far as I know) accepted by the society, if they didn't made a big deal out of it as people tend to do today...
CharmingAngel - December 24, 2008 09:06 PM (GMT)
I'm not homophobic @ all! To be honest I have a HUGE weakness for gay men... it's unhealthy. I have gay men as friends and family and have absolutely no problem with that.

I suppose we might be able to thank Kinsley (the Kinsley Report) for much of the changes in social attitudes towards sexuality (he apparently has been credited with having a bit of influence on the sexual revolution). Perhaps it wasn't just his interest in insects that drove him to study human sexuality as 'completely' has he had, rather some of his own personal feelings/experience (perhaps there lack of in his earlier days).
Personally, we are who we are and at the end of the day, does one's sexual orientation really matter? Just because I happen to be straight, doesn't mean I shouldn't be associated with people who are not. I would totally miss out on some very interesting thought/ideas...
