Okay...after the show tonight - let's discuss what we thought of it.

**Spoilers**
Great episode!!! I really liked that one - So much better than last week. I think my only critizism could be that it was predictable. Gary said he was going to let the boy choose so I guessed right away he had told him something about going back to the foster home and doing something to that lady. And what's up with this trend of letting the viewers know who the unsubs are right away?
The intro was really good - the ruse they used to get in the house was really creepy! (Stuff like that that's so realistic is so scary!) But I agree with Garcia....why did they have to use cats? (I'm a huge animal lover and cats are my favorites! :( )
Again....I really liked Emily. She wasn't "compartmentalizing" she actually has feelings and let them show.
So I take it Hotch is at least talking to Haley (I'm assuming he was talking to her on the plane, asking if he could talk to Jack to hear his voice) So she hasn't come back home but he at least knows where she is?
Sad as it is to say.....I didn't miss Gideon in that episode. It worked just fine without him.
Okay....that's all I can think of at the moment....what did everyone else think?
ILoveReed1988 - October 18, 2007 02:12 AM (GMT)
i agree ..like them much much better...:) emily is finally showin some kind of emotion..Good for her..that was a very very sad episode...:(!!!!!!!! :) i miss gideon but the show is doin ok without him!
Kyle - October 18, 2007 02:18 AM (GMT)
Scary for me, but I really liked it! Prentiss showed a lot of emotion, and we have been able to see a great personality from her.
Lately, they seem to not have a lot of Reid.. I wish they could get him on more. Same with Garcia. Also, Hotch's personality seems to be a little dull.. But it has always been like that hey!
Overall though, it was a great episode! Had me at the edge of my bed wondering what would happen next! I knew that when the unsub said "he will decide what he want", that something more was going on then him just releasing him.. I knew that something was bound to happen later. And what do we know! He has a gun!
I easily give it 5 stars!!
[[(A bit off topic, but) - I have pinned this topic since it was the most recent episode. I think it would be a good idea if we started pinning the weekly discussion topic, so that people can access it easier. Then, once a newer episode comes, I can unpin this one and pin the newer one. I hope that is ok with you guys. If not, just say so!]]

Yeah.....Hotch and Prentiss seem to be front and center so far this season. I've actually enjoyed that with Prentiss.....I'm liking her so much more this year. Hotch....understandable why - but because his character is supposed to be so distracted by family problems he seems either really withdrawn when it's personal stuff and then overly "drill sergeant" when it's business so I haven't really enjoyed him too much this year.
Then Morgan and JJ are getting in there a little bit and I think we've seen the least of Reid but maybe that's because they spent so much time with him last year, maybe they're not giving him too much on purpose.
ILoveReed1988 - October 18, 2007 03:28 AM (GMT)
we need to see more of like jj and Garcia and emily..their the 3 they show the least!

**spoiler below**
In about four more episodes, so about mid-November, we are going to get a Garcia episode. *She gets shot....so the episode may not have her with a lot of dialoge but we will probably get to know more about her - and in the following episode too*
I think we're already getting to know more about Emily and I've read some spoilers that there is more to come for her too. And I would also like another JJ episode....I really liked North Mammon.

I thought last nights episode was better than the previous week, but it's still not falling into place for me .. it's off balance and I'm just not enjoying this season like I did last season :(

I really liked this episode and I actually almost cried at the end. It seemed to really effect Morgan a lot. HMMMMM. I wonder why.
I also didn't miss Gideon at all. Totally forgot about him. O_O Also, IfounditreallycutehowJJandReidweregonnaeattogether.

I smiled for all the JJ/Reid shippers out there when they stayed behind for a donut! :D
I need to watch the show again but I do have a few thoughts/questions about some things.
How realistic is it that social services couldn't take the kids out of the house right away? If there was an accusation that she was practically drowning children they couldn't get the kids out and then do an investigation? If for no other reason wouldn't they worry that a potential abusive foster parent would harm a child in their care if someone had reported them? Even if it wasn't that kid that had complained about them, if they felt they would tell anything bad about them they might "punish" them.
Did Hotch and Emily not think there was something strange going on when they saw the refrigerator was locked and the woman was wearing a key around her neck? Would/should they have requested an inquiry about that at the time?
If a minor child who is orphaned and their next of kin can't be located (or they don't want the kid) could a person like Emily offer to take her in legally? (I mean would the state allow that or would they require her to go to a foster home.....or let her stay with someone like Emily while she did whatever paperwork would be required to qualify as a foster parent?)
Just some random thoughts......I don't know the laws on this stuff I was just wondering how accurate that was.
Kell7998 - October 19, 2007 12:46 AM (GMT)
that was an amazing episode! I am so excited for next week.
Luna - October 19, 2007 10:07 AM (GMT)
Amazing! I seriously, seriously loved the episode. I thought it was horrible for the children to watch their parents get killed so brutal. I felt so bad for Kerry. It must be horrifying to first go through what she went through and then have to talk to the person that killed her family and, because I think everyone would, feel sorry for the guy.
I hated the fostercare mom! Really hated! Well everyone probably did, but I needed to say it! Good that Tyler didn't kill her though. Poor kid and he's so adorable with his curls, who would hurt a kid like that <_< Or the little girl, they did get her out too right? I mean, please they can't have taken him away and lett the little girl stay in that horrible house!
I really think Emily could be a great mom. I really liked her a lot this episode. I loved the conversation JJ and her had in the plane.
I didn't like Hotch though, but I felt really bad for him when he was talking to Haley on the phone.
I'm sometimes a JJ/Reid shipper, so I loved them staying behind and getting a donut.
Morgan was great this episode, loved his remark to 'tell them to restok the bar' and then JJ: 'I called ahead.'
But one thing: why cats!!!!!!!!!! Specially the last one, it looked so much like the cat I grew up with, like my little angel, so I was 'no no no don't do that!' It was so pretty! Why cats!!!!

That was such a great ep! I was worried at first that Tyler had killed the foster person (I can't call someone like that "mom"), so I was quite relieved to see that he chose not to become like Gary.
I loved Garcia's "spank me" comment, and I had to laugh when Reid pointed out the violent imagery associated with the name "Cleaver." LOL!

|
Unfortunately, it's very realistic. :( In some places, there are so many kids in the system that social services can barely keep up with them. Add to that the fact that some of the employees are incompetent, and you have the makings for disaster. In Florida, one little girl was missing from her foster home for a year before the authorities realized she had disappeared. Then there was the case worker who falsified records and said that a little boy in her charge was in good health. In actuality, he was being abused, and he was beaten to death that same day.

Not necessarily. The woman implied that the kids were always getting into the fridge, and as long as they looked well fed and cared for, Hotch and Emily probably would have found it odd, but not criminal.
As for Emily or someone like her taking in a child...good question. My guess is that social services would hesitate because of the BAU's need to leave at a moment's notice. She'd have to arrange for someone to care for the child, even if he/she were an older teenager.
I love this show! - October 22, 2007 11:43 AM (GMT)
Well that's just sad and depressing! :( I'm sure not every foster child is in a horrible situation but is sad to think about all the ones that are!
That was a really good episode, I watched it again last night.
I hope next week.....well, now I can say this week....is another good episode. But it's about children disappearing.... :(

I actually liked last week a bit better, but still pretty happy with the last three!!
Cutting Room Floor
**spoilers**
**According to the sides, we were to meet Emily's former fiance, they seemed to have "cut" this storyline.
I loved the look on Emily's face and the need she seems to carry, in regards to wanting a child of her own. Perhaps we will meet "Mark" later on in the season....**
side note: foster mom mentioned they would eat you out of house and home...but a key?

I hope it's not too depressing. I feel sorry for all of the victims, but little kids....well, it's just hard to think about. :(
I'll be traveling Wednesday, so I hope I'm settled into my hotel room by the time CM comes on. Hmm...maybe I'd better set up the DVD recorder, just in case.

Yeah.....don't risk missing an episode!

I also really loved this episode even though it was very sad. Another great installment – touching, shocking, exciting, very well done and played.
But I always make the same mistake: watching the beginning scene, looking at happy, normal people that could be you, me, us… without reminding myself that they are probably going to die within the following few moments. It’s only a TV show but I always sympathise too much with fictional characters (mhh, ok, if the audience wouldn’t sympathise at all a series could be cancelled…). And it’s even harder when children are killed :(
Anyway, they did a really good job in this episode. As for the characters I loved Emily, I loved Hotch, I loved Reid … ok *sighs*, I loved nearly everybody (except for this one bad guy). I even felt some kind of compassion for the second murderer who helped the girl to survive. Btw, the actress who played the daughter was a good choice. Her acting was convincing and I liked her very much. I guess I could put myself in her situation (oh no… my family is still alive, thank god) – to watch your parents die, to find your little brother dead in his bed, to be confronted with one of the murderers … that must be so horrible.
The end was amazing. I was really relieved when the boy did NOT kill his foster mum. Such an end would have been totally depressing. I’m glad they gave us at least a little happy ending, a ray of hope that it’s up to every single person to decide about what they do and what they don’t do. No matter what has been done to them before...
Oh, there was one really funny moment that still makes me smile: Garcia asking Morgan at the phone if he would spank her. I loved Morgan who looked deeply appalled as well as the police officer (or FBI agent? I don’t remember) who seemed to be a little bewildered *lol*.
Can't wait for the next episode (tomorrow ... :D ).

I just re-watched this episode and I still totally love it :) I have to start with Emily love  She's so great, I glad we got to see a more human side to her in this episode. Her interaction with Carrie was great, it's been so great seeing a new side of her open up this season. We're finally getting some real personality from her!
Everyone was great but the female characters were my favourite in this eppy. J.J. got some nice moments and Garcia had me in stitches  I loved the "what, or you'll spank me line?" It was sooo funny and so was the look on Morgan's face!
I found the unsub creepy right from the start. He just gave me the shudders, it was so disturbing. And the cat thing was horrible...I was actually scared by this eppy! I was totally on the edge of my seat, when the parents came back in the room and unsub no. was there, I just wanted to hide away  I'm such a wimp when I know horrible things are gonna happen :P
I liked the twist with Tyler and the gun. I didn't see that coming but I'm so glad the kid didn't shoot his foster mom. Thank god for Morgan making the kid see sense, it would have been a really depressing ending otherwise.
Back to Emily (character of the season!), I never really thought of her as mother material but after this episode I can definiely see it. I know there were rumours her ex-fiance was supposed to show up in this episode but I don't think he was needed in this episode, although an appearance later on would be interesting.
The team were so together! I didn't miss Gideon either, I didn't even notice his absence! The Hotch and Emily focus kept my attention right throughout the episode both times and I really think the cast would have been just fine with Rossi ;)
Reid's comment about the cleavers - so typical!
