First off (I wasn't born in Texas!) Second, I'm way too far north for some of those things to apply. And last - I really hope a lot of those are just steroetypes! :lol: It would be a little scary to meet someone who marked all of those!

I live in Austin though, and that poll even has a thing you can check that says "you do not consider people from Austin Texans." Hah, that is probably because Austin is very liberal, and a lot different from the stereotypical Texas. Many Texans from other parts of the state do not consider austin to be part of texas.. We are sometimes called "The People's Republic of Austin" lol!!

But really and truly, Texas is not all people put it out to be.. I mean yes, there are "cowboys", but mainly in west Texas. Dallas has a metro of 6 million people, and is expected to have a total of 12.4 million in just twenty years!! That is bigger then Los angeles metro right now!! Houston is full of traffic.. It takes an hour to get to downtown!

So yeah, Texas has its country side(west Texas) and its urban, yankeeish side(houston, dallas, austin) as well as its latino side (san antonio, el paso!) A lot of people say Texas is its own country, because even though we are EXTREMELY diverse state, we are always proud to be in texas!! Only in Texas and Quebec do you see the state/province flags as much as the national flag!
