I think Private Practice will be pretty popular if it's anything like Grey's Anatomy...And Gossip Girls sounds okay too so it might be a little tough. Is kitchen nightmares another reality show? Thank god over here they tend to air all the good shows at different times!
ac5000 - August 3, 2007 02:33 PM (GMT)
im going to say that Private Practice might be our biggest compeition...all the fans from Grey's Anatomy (and they have alot!) are going to cross over, considering its a spinoff. Gossip Girl's also going to be huge because its from the creator of The OC, so fans from there are going to probably get into GG, PLUS it already has a ton of books out.
CriminalMind - August 3, 2007 04:27 PM (GMT)
Private Practice is gonna be the biggest competion. Grey's Anatomy fans will be watching, and it's already got a bit of coverage over here, so I can just imagine the coverage it's getting for GA fans over there. I'm actually totally pysched for this when it hits the UK!
And Gossip Girls is by the creaters of The OC, so a load of their fans will come over and watch it.
Not sure about Bionic Women, I think that's got a better chance over here, since it's an english actress playing the Bionic Women. But, it is based on films and different series, so it may be slightly tricky.
Kitchen Nightmares sounds awful! But I'm not a fan of reality TV, although a lot of people are.
Basically, we could be in for a tricky season.
Rach112 - August 3, 2007 05:19 PM (GMT)
I think Private Practice is gonna be pretty awesome. CM are gonna need a strong season, it seems like a rough time slot for them :(
ac5000 - August 3, 2007 06:37 PM (GMT)
but CM's got US!!!! none of them other shows have got the super dee dooperness of the community over here!! :D
Rach112 - August 4, 2007 06:14 PM (GMT)
lol, that's so true! :D All Grey's fans planning to watch private practice, you must record and watch CM instead! :P Btw, what is the Bionic woman? It sounds wierd...

It's based on this story that's been running for aggggges. From tv.com I got:

Jaime Wells Sommers is nothing but a hard-working woman juggling work as a bartender, the responsibility for the care of her younger sister, Becca, and her relationship with her boyfriend, Will. Although she does not have much, Jaime has always enjoyed being as normal as any other human being. However, this all changes when she is hit by a car and seriously injured. Her only hope becomes an experimental and top secret procedure, but, as Jaime soon discovers, this salvation comes at a high price.
Bionic Woman is produced by David Eick Productions in association with GEP Productions and NBC Universal Television Studio. |

Next episode: Pilot Jaime Sommers is a normal, hard-working woman caring for her younger sister and managing a love relationship. Her life is complicated further after she is involved in a horrendous car accident, leaving her with injuries so severe, she can only be saved using bionic body parts with amazing abilities beyond Jaime's control. |
It stars:
Michelle Ryan - Jaime Wells Sommers (Zoe Slater from Eastenders)
Chris Bowers - Will Anthros (Larry Bird from Rescue Me
Miguel Ferrer - Jonas Bledsoe (Dr. Garret Macy from Crossing Jordan)
Molly Price - Ruth Treadwell (Det. Faith Yokas from Third Watch)
Will Yun Lee - Jae Kim (Vincent Chan from Thief)
Lucy Hale - Becca Sommers (Rachel Rydell from The Apostles. Also an 'American Junior')
Rach112 - August 5, 2007 07:01 AM (GMT)
not my cup of tea but Michelle Ryan was good in that BBC thing Jekyll...
Kyle - August 5, 2007 07:01 AM (GMT)
That saddens me that Private Practice is going to be on the same time of Criminal Minds!! Lol I love Doctor Shephard and have to see her on Private Practice! Ah, thankfully I can always record one while watching the other.
Gossip Girls sounds.. Interesting. But since it is on the CW, I doubt it will get too popular.
Bionic Woman sounds weird. Lol
Anyways all of these shows except for Criminal Minds sound like shows that appeal to women mainly (except for people like me LOL) so who knows.. That could make a difference, for good or for bad. :-/
I love this show! - August 7, 2007 01:49 AM (GMT)
I think the biggest competition will be around January or so when American Idol comes back and the results show will be against CM.
ac5000 - August 7, 2007 02:40 AM (GMT)
true, but CM generally has good January and February sweeps. Plus, im pretty sure AI is starting to lose a bunch of fans. its getting kinda old..
Special Agent Jentzer - August 9, 2007 03:41 AM (GMT)
OUCH.........BUT THANK GOODNESS FOR OUR

I love this show! - August 9, 2007 11:30 AM (GMT)
Seriously? That many people are looking forward to a remake of the old 70's show the Bionic Woman? I can understand Private Practice - that will get a lot of Grey's Anatomy fans and there have been spin offs that have done really well but a lot of them turn out to be flops too. And I don't know how much of a threat Gossip Girl will be just because of the network it will be on.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see but I know where I'll be on Wednesday nights! :)
ac5000 - August 9, 2007 11:23 PM (GMT)
i know a lot of us are writing the network of CW out, but in several places, its HUGE!!! It just depends on where you are. im pretty sure Gossip Girl will be a tough competitor just because of how popular the books have become.
I love this show! - August 9, 2007 11:46 PM (GMT)
Oh....I didn't know there were books! Shows you how much I know. :P

here is the juice on "Gossip Girls"
Gossip Girls (full article)| QUOTE |
Gossip Girl is an upcoming American television teen drama created by Josh Schwartz, creator of The O.C., and Stephanie Savage, who also serve as executive producers alongside Bob Levy and Leslie Morgenstein. Mark Piznarski directed the pilot.
Based on the novel series by Cecily von Ziegesar of the same name,
Gossip Girl revolves around the lives of socialite young adults growing up on New York's Upper East Side who attend elite academic institutions whilst dealing with sex, drugs, and other teenage issues.
Featuring an ensemble cast, the series mainly centers around the lives of best friends, Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) and Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), and their shared romantic interest, Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford).
As outsiders looking in, Dan (Penn Badgley) and Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen) do not run in the same social or financial circles as their peers but are drawn into their lives nonetheless.
The series is narrated by a seemingly omniscient character, "Gossip Girl" (voiced by Kristen Bell), who runs a website blogging about her fellow Upper East Siders consequently stirring the pot and feeding potential rivalries in this exclusive and vicious circle of friends.
Produced by CBS Paramount Network Television, Warner Bros. Television, College Hill Productions and Alloy Entertainment, the series is currently scheduled to premiere on September 19, 2007, airing on Wednesday nights at 9:00/8:00c on The CW, following America's Next Top Model. |
Rach112 - August 11, 2007 05:38 PM (GMT)
I love the Gossip Girl books! I think it's gonna be big! What's wrong with the CW network? Is it crappy?
I love this show! - August 11, 2007 05:46 PM (GMT)
There probably isn't anything wrong with the network - it's just not one of the big ones ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX so I think shows have a harder time getting the ratings and a hit show on a smaller network.
Special Agent Jentzer - August 11, 2007 05:50 PM (GMT)
But look at the compettion for all the different age groups and key pre-premiere metrics...........wow
I love this show! - August 11, 2007 06:01 PM (GMT)
true....you never know - it could be a big hit.
Rach112 - August 11, 2007 08:58 PM (GMT)
Oh okay, thanks for that info ILTS. I don't like Fox, they have cancelled a few shows that I loved
Frank's_Evilution - August 13, 2007 08:28 PM (GMT)
Well....I like both CM and Grey's Anatomy, but I'm not ditching CM for Private Practice. I never really did plan one watching that show anyways ;)
As for Bionic Woman....I think people are getting a bit tired of the superhero craze. First was supernatural, then Heroes, now Bionic Woman? *shakes head*
sandersidle - September 3, 2007 05:58 PM (GMT)
Aw man! I wanted to watch Gossip Girls! But I guess I can't. Criminal Minds definatly tops GG. xD
Oh but as for CW, aren't they known for cancelling like every show they create? Haha. But I live in Canada and I don't get CW on normal channels. It's like channel 152 or something, but they play Hidden Palms on CityTV and it's a CW show. So Gossip Girls, I think, will be a big compitition. A lot of my friends read the books and stuff.
ILoveReed1988 - September 3, 2007 08:18 PM (GMT)
i think that gossip girl might be a competition too
Kell7998 - September 5, 2007 09:13 PM (GMT)
but then again, I dont know of many younger children who watch the show. I think it is mostly people like 12 and older, sorry if your under 12 :P and I dont think many older people will watch GG, but who knows
ILoveReed1988 - September 5, 2007 10:38 PM (GMT)
Garcia44 - September 6, 2007 05:30 PM (GMT)
As a teen in 70's America I was a huge fan of "The Bionic Woman" & "The Six Million Dollar Man" (the star of this show, Lee Majors, grew up just a few miles from where I live) He's a really nice guy and a great actor. Anyway, I just can't imagine anybody else portraying the Bionic Woman, other than Lindsay Wagner. She was terrific. I'm old and set in my ways and I like things to stay the same .. lol .. that's a product of getting older :P I'll watch a couple episodes I suppose .. just to see what it's like. Who knows, maybe i'll like it.
On the other hand I can't think of anything the networks could put on opposite CM that I would watch instead. :D
ILoveReed1988 - September 6, 2007 06:51 PM (GMT)
yea...cause i only watch criminal minds on wenesday at 9
I love this show! - September 6, 2007 10:06 PM (GMT)
Oh Garcia44.....it will be so nice to have someone else to talk with when references are made to "older things" like 70's TV shows!!! :D
Jentzer and I get a good laugh about some things like that but we feel like the majority of the members don't get it because they probably weren't even born yet!
We had a really good laugh when Kate Jackson (a.k.a. Emily's mom) made a guest appearance. The former Charlie's angel (Scarecrow and Mrs. King.....) In the find a picture game that came up and I think a picture of Drew Barrymore was posted. (we of course were thinking of the original Charlie's angels!)
I remember watching the bionic woman and the six million dollar man. Now that show would seem so cheesy! I bet they could do a lot with technology/visual effects kind of thing but I just don't know that I would really want to watch a remake of it. And besides I know where I'm going to be at that time!
Garcia44 - September 6, 2007 10:34 PM (GMT)
It will be nice to have people who share memories with me .. I loved watching those shows and you're right on 2 counts ..they would seem way too "cheesy" today, but if they could do them over they could do wonders with todays technology and special affects .. I just hope they would keep that "dunnnnnna" thing in .. I loved that ... it was the signal that the bionics had kicked in .. lol . Oh to be able to run 60mph ... LOL
I had the same thougts when I saw Kate on CM .. lol .. I was OMG, it's Sabrina .. lol
I also remember watching Emergency! S.W.A.T, Adam-12, The Partridge Family, Lost in Space & yeah I watched Scarecrow and Mrs. King ... (Kate is such a great actress).. I could go on and on .. lol and the music that came out during the 70's ... classic
I love this show! - September 6, 2007 10:42 PM (GMT)
Oh yes! Let's see you left out Dukes of Hazzard, Chips.......I won't continue!
I remember all the shows you named - they were SO groovy! (yikes!)
Bionic woman.....remember how she had to brush the hair away from her ear and they did a close-up of that ear with the sound effect so you knew she was using her bionic hearing? Too funny!
Garcia44 - September 6, 2007 10:49 PM (GMT)
OMG ... LOL .. yes, I do remember that ... it was as if those few strands of hair would interfere with millions of $$ worth of bionics .. LOL ... but I loved it :P Those shows were indeed groovy man .. far out! .. LOL
ILoveReed1988 - September 6, 2007 11:47 PM (GMT)
see im 19..i dont remember those shows
I love this show! - September 7, 2007 12:01 AM (GMT)
You're just a baby! It's pretty sad when you're only old enough to remember the remakes of these shows.
Seriously......you didn't miss out on too much. Horrible fashion styles, Really big hair, awful slang words like "groovy" and "far out" not to mention really cheesey TV scripts......no, I'd say you really didn't miss too much!
But hey...it was all very popular then!
ILoveReed1988 - September 7, 2007 12:09 AM (GMT)
...see when i was little i watch shows like rugrats, are you afraid of the dark, goosbumps, hey arnold, uhhh clarissa explains it all, all that
I love this show! - September 7, 2007 12:14 AM (GMT)
I loved Rugrats! I think I laughed harder than the kids.
ILoveReed1988 - September 7, 2007 12:36 AM (GMT)
i loe that show too..LOL
Rach112 - September 28, 2007 09:43 PM (GMT)
I heard someone say Private Practice and Bionic Woman did really well, is that right? I hope CM got lots of viewers!
