Description: books

Special Agent Jentzer - April 3, 2007 10:54 PM (GMT)
A guy at work yesterday was reading "Shantaram" by Gregory David Roberts.

I picked it up and started to flip through it, by the end of the day I had run up to the book store and bought my own copy....

I can't put it down.......

and what is on your bedside table????

I think you will actually laugh... Other then the three most important books that any politician should have on their night table... I have
1) The Mythology of Crime and Criminal Justice (required reading for criminology... Thought I'd get it done before and see how good my 'close reading' skills are without having the benefit of a lecture)
2) The Law Enforcement Handbook.

CriminalMindsFan - April 4, 2007 01:41 AM (GMT)
Right now I'm hooked on a book called "Mind Hunter" which is a great book about the guy who pioneered profiling in the FBI. His name is John Douglas. It talks about all of his cases. Another great one is by him also called the "Anatomy of Motive". :)

LeucaBleu - April 4, 2007 03:51 AM (GMT)
I'm finishing The Fall of Atlantis by Marion Zimmer Bradley...and trying to sell it on Amazon at the same time! :P (Decided I wanted to have the two seperate books so I wasn't missing anything...)

And next up is Geisha of Gion by Mineko Iwasaki...VERY good book, slightly funny, hard to put down and SO much better than Memoirs of a Geisha! (Probably because the former is non-fiction and has pix to boot!)

~)~

My Grey School textbooks are laying somewhat ignored under my nightstand, because the classes I'm taking a.t.m. don't use it. (I'm probably going to end up reading them on my own, since they're actually meant to be instructional books and not just textbooks.)

Mandarina - April 16, 2007 08:11 PM (GMT)
In my bedside table there are eleven books. I´m not reading all of them, but I want to and my memory isn´t good at all, so... They´re waiting :P

I´ve just finished "Eight Little Piggies" by Jay Gould and "The family of Pascual Duarte" by Camilo José Cela; now I´ve started "Memoirs of Hadrian" by Marguerite Yourcenar and "Les fleurs du mal" by Baudelaire, in French.

Luna - May 25, 2007 07:11 PM (GMT)
I'm reading 'the Hobbit' by Tolkien ;)

Hallondrake - May 28, 2007 09:15 AM (GMT)
I'm reading two books;
A Scanner Darkly (Philip K. Dick) and The Picture of Dorian Grey (Oscar Wilde).

Lisa - June 11, 2007 04:56 PM (GMT)

JulieFan - June 12, 2007 08:08 AM (GMT)
A Dutch book called 'Moordscene' which means 'Murder Scene'.

It is about a guy who rents the movie DVD of Psycho. And when the famous murder scene comes on it changes to a real murder in the psycho style.

If I am correct that is the book that Mark David Chapman, the assassin of John Lennon, was carrying when he was arrested. He said that the story was his motive. :)

CriminalMind - June 12, 2007 04:09 PM (GMT)
A book by Phillip M. Margolin called 'The Undertaker's Widow'.

It's pretty good, and I'm on chapter 7, but at times it's hard to understand, for me anyway, because it flicks back and forth between the judge's story and the policeman's story.

A Scanner Darkly (Philip K. Dick)

I have that on DVD, and it's really odd! I need to re-watch it, to try and understand it! :P

Also, I like how a lot of us are reading 'dark' books, or crime books or something!

Rach112 - December 30, 2007 06:07 PM (GMT)
It's quite a good book if you can get used to reading about the characters instead of watching them!

I'm reading Hannibal Rising.

CM Addict - I was just given both those books. They both look pretty good ;)

CalleighElleDakota - December 30, 2007 06:34 PM (GMT)

No kidding. ;)

I'm still reading My Sister's Keeper. I don't get much time to read anymore, so it's taking more time than usual. But it's still really good, although the mom is getting on my nerves!

Leooo - February 27, 2008 01:20 PM (GMT)
"Veronika beschließt zu sterben" in English that would be "Veronika decides to die". It is written by Paulo Coelho and it is very good!

And (yep, two books at the same time, for this one is in English!)
"A spot of bother" by Mark Haddon. I like it!
