Once again, art in motion!! Another quality addon, I have been waiting all my life it seems to "fly" this beauty. Thanks for making this possible. One question - where did you guys get the flight dynamics, was it just a matter of tweaking or is it based on some real data? Very nimble aircraft indeed!! It`s also refreshing to see the Alouette III G-car gunner engage enemy troops effectivly, giving light support a real meaning!
I tried a autorotation and even that went smooth(ish), brilliant!!!
One thing I`ve noticed, bullets does not seem to penetrate the cockpit glass, and this baby can take a good licking
ok i`m off to do some more sightseeing from the outside--- ofcourse

I am working on the problem with the cockpit glass not being damaged when hit. At the moment there is a problem with the O2 3D (Release Candidate) tool as the scripting engine is not working. We need this to be able to change the damage script for the model in game (.rvmat file swap). What I have done in the meantime till the final version of the tools is released is used the "Damage Half ", "Damage Full" script in the configs (but this does not solve the problem only shows damage to the whole helicopter). It will be fixed for the final release.
As for the flight dynamics, I played around with the GEOMETRY LOD and the config to get a balance. To be honest I've never flown in one myself, although I watched them when I was doing my National Service at Ondangwa AFB (1982) and been in the PUMA quite a few times. The helicopters in ArmA also tend to dive to quickly and don't feel like real helicopters.
So here is a little something I discovered for other model makers to use. In the GEO LOD, the size of the rotor has a lot of influence on the flight dynamics of the helicopter. (It acts like a wing). The bigger, the better control the heli will have.
I also noted that if the ROTOR is heavier than 10% of total weight. The heli tends to dive quicker in game. If the rotor is to big the heli becomes less manoeuvrable, if to small the heli becomes uncontrollable. You have to get a balance based on weight and size of your heli. Plenty patience and lots of trial and error.
Also very important to keep the weight and speed of your model as accurate as possible based on actual specs.

the alouette III is a fantastic addon, but the alouette that has rockets as a weapon it only has two rockets. what about giving it more rockets or merging it with the machine gun version on the side.? that way its a two in 1 and it can handle anti infantry and armor? did they make versions of this?

I am re-doing the Alouette IIIs as there is some texture problems and the new tools where released after I completed them. I can now fix this with the UVset. I also want to better the texture resolutions. Regarding the weapon layout we want to keep the addons as authentic as possible. South Africa Armed the alouettes with 2 X AS12 (French) missiles known as (Stand-of-Missiles) and they where used for long range attacks on specific targets as a support unit. No other weapons where attached to this version. I am still looking for a winch script so I can attach a winch to the Alouette III S&R. December I will release the updated versions with new textures.
