Title: Scripting Issue
Description: - Handy Tools for cutscene making

Ou Matroos - September 29, 2007 05:06 PM (GMT)
Hi there everyone

i wondering if anyone has mastered the use of Handy Tools: Improved AI Flight Model and Camera Scripts Armed Assault By Geloxo. I am not a scripter, i was wondering if anyone has mastered the use if this script, if they could please explain it to me. As i really want to use this script in my next cutscene (my first actually)

So far i understand the basics of how to create the ref waypoint and setting up the scene, the part that i dont understand is the way you change and call the script

any help would be much appreciated ( been battling with this for the last 2 months)

thanks in advance.

Edit: It looks like i am slowly getting the hang of how to alter this script

Now just gotta work out how to use it on jet aircraft

hi I am also not a scripter but there are fantastic tutorials by Messiah and snYpir.

that may help you in the camera work. also look for uber's editor tutorial (which also helps with scripting)
look over at OFPEC

I hope that helps :)

I'm also having some problems with scripting while creating my 1st mission...

I'm working on having a chopper take off in the background and fly a circuit...but when the chopper is flown by AI it doesn't switch the lights on...

I've tried scripts like: this Inflame true & switchlight "On" , but have had no luck so far...

The same goes for switching empty searchlights on...

I've tried OFPEC but keep finding scripts that I suspect are only for the older Operation Flashpoint. <_<

Would the scripting Gurus lend a hand to help out a total Noob?

But most scripts from ofpec still work for arma, just a few tweaks... have you checked the com reference??

ps another useful tool is chris's Arma edit, this helps with scripting, briefings, overviews etc. it is a fantastic tool...

Thanx steele6

I got the solution to my problem on OFPEC within half an hour! These guys sure know their stuff. And they don't mind helping out :D

The solution to getting a searchlight to shine w/out anyone manning it is:

You place a GameLogic ( found under items ) on the map next to your searchlight and name it for example: GL1 ...Then you name your searchlight for example: S1 ...You then type the following in the initialization ( init ) section of your GameLogic: GL1 moveInGunner S1 ( that's what the "gamelogicname moveInGunner searchlightname" means ) ---> And Presto! You have a bright nice shiny searchlight!

And to get an AI pilot / driver to switch a chopper / vehicle's lights on when he's flying / driving is:

You set the pilot / chopper's behaviour to "safe" or "careless" by typing the following: this setbehaviour "safe" ...in the init section of the unit.

You learn something new every day. :)
