Here are some O2 renders before I start putting the Alouettes together. They will be ready for testing before next weekend. I have also updated the Pumas as well as reworked the normal maps using a new programme called "crazy-bump" and the finnish is a marked improvement. Also fixed the Panels and a few other reported bugs. I want to get these out of the way so that I can start completing our custom weapons pack and our soldier units.

The lovely detail I promised and still kept the poly count reasonably low, compensated with the normal mapping for that little extra detail you see.

I now have the shadow and reflection part of the modelwork down to an art and have them near perfect.

Busy putting them together and they will be ready for the weekend.

Alouette III with Stand off Missiles (AS12) and the proper French Manufactured Guidence System. I have gone into a lot of detail and accuracy. Operational helis will not have roundels only the Search and Rescue version.

The Alouette III Search and Rescue configuration with wench. The wench does not work yet and I am having UNN look at developing a script for us. The S&R version will carry the SAAF roundel. The 20mm Kcar is also included.

I will post them on Sunday night as a release version V1.8. I redid them to fix up all the bugs etc. The only thing that does not work is the wench, which I will add as soon as it is ready.

Sundays release will also include the updated Pumas

Here is a little ingame screen preview before I release the Alouette IIIs on Monday night. I have gone into a lot of detail and have tried to keep them as original as possible. I have fixed all the bugs with this complete remake of the add-on. It includes shattered glass penetrable by bullets so occupants can now get killed by gunfire.

The Alouette III AS316/B in Search & Rescue configuration with wench. I will add a wench script at a later stage when it is completed.

The K-car Gunship version with 20mm Ga1 cannon includes AP and HE rounds. The most prominent feature of the K-car was the specialy developed Heat shield around the turbine which vented the exhaust gasses up towards the rotors. This minimised the heatsignature of the helicopter making it difficult for the Russian SAMs to lock onto target. I have implemented this feature with the add-on. Ingame you cannot lock on to the K-car with a Stinger or any Surface to Air missile.

The Missile Gunship version with 2 X AS12 Stand-of Missiles. Includes a laser designator with a 2000 meter LOS to target. I have tried to keep it as original as possible (from limited available photos) and have included the South African Manufactured Missile Guidence System. Only 2 versions where ever made and used Operationaly in Angola by the SAAF.

As I see the other helis have the heat shield, they will be imposible to lock with AA misiles too?

Only the 2 with the heat shields but you can still shoot them down as well as kill the pilots with heavy or small arms fire. It was only a protective measure against SAMs after 1982 when the Cubans started installing SAM batteries in Cuvelai and Huambo. The Alouettes where used with caution and only in support of FIREFORCE or COIN operations. The K-car with 20mm cannon was used extensively to cover the Puma's LZ and give protective defence while Pumas where on the ground. The SADF could hardly aford to loose any equipment especialy with the Arms Embargo and sanctions against South Africa at the time. Also notably the helis where kept well maintained even in operational conditions.

Really another great job Obmar.
The updated Alouettes work perfectly, the amount of details make these toys the best addons ever made for Arma.
The only bug I found is the little and incoplete SAAF roundel on the SA330 Puma, don't know if it's my video card fault or whatever.
Now Opfor gunners can aim and hit the Puma with small fire and AA SAMs.
It's better flying together with a K-Car for force force and ferry missions over enemy territory, for obvious reasons...
