Those are simply stunning! You guys nailed it gentlemen. Well done. B)
bluedingo - December 2, 2007 05:49 AM (GMT)
This looks incredible. Can't wait to get my hands on it!
Two questions: If a door is closed does it protect the guys inside the helicopter?
And could there be some scripting so that cargo seats are locked whilst door is closed? Enough of me and doors, I'll just say I really like it.
FALCON 1 - December 2, 2007 07:15 AM (GMT)
Thanks guys.
@ bluedingo: Yes the doors protect the passengers if they are closed. Just emptied five clips on my gunner to make sure of this, and not a scratch ( to him at least ) :P

@ Ou matroos : This sim is so realistic... you'd better clean the brown stains off those seats after we get back to base... :D
steele6 - December 4, 2007 12:44 PM (GMT)
That is fantastic!! great work to the mod team..
by the way, to help with the screens, when in the editor in the int field :
this exec "camera.sqs"; show cinema border false;
that way the black top and bottom parts will begone!( hope that helps) keep up the good work!
ObmaR - December 4, 2007 04:09 PM (GMT)
I have scripted the animation so that the cargo can only enter or exit once the Puma is less than 3 meters in height and the doors are open... hope this answers your question

Thanks, this will make hot insertions/extractions more "interesting".
steele6 - December 6, 2007 07:19 AM (GMT)
:o What about para jumping from the chopper?? say when 200 ft...?
FALCON 1 - December 6, 2007 09:29 AM (GMT)
Hey steele6
Obmar has the script set to where the doors close automatically when the chopper lifts off. Once you're at altitude you can manually open them again and jump out just like you would in real life. Ejecting from the vehicle is also a way to overide any locked passenger script, so no worries mate :)
The deal with the black lines above and below the pics was a by-product of something else we were trying to do in multiplayer. As you can see there are some pics I've posted that don't have them. We were trying to have one guy pilot the Puma in multiplayer, and another be the cameraman to take some in-game footage. It didn't work as we wanted because we both ended up in camera view and the guy without the camera script (me :P ) ended up with the borders.
There is a way to get past this with scripting and we're looking into it. I'll post some pics later to show the awesome instrumentation lighting and navigation lights/strobe/searchlight effects. Trust me these addons are going to be worth the wait. ;) Obmar is also tweaking the casevac Puma to have the troops ride shotgun like they did during the war, to enable them to give extra cover-fire in all directions when entering a landing zone.

Feel free to post some screeniesin here of your own guys, and let us know how you're enjoying the Betas released so far. Your feedback and ideas are always welcome ;)

Howzit to all,
Firstly, fantstic job, keep up the good work ouens. This is going to be the best addon for ARMA .
I would just like to make a comment on the seats and the sliding door.
I was on the border in 80/81 with 5 SAI and got to fly in pumas on the odd occasion, and not once did i see seats mounted! We allways sat in the doorway as shown in the photo.
Wish you blokes all the best of luck, and cant wait to get my hands on this addon !!

WOW!! Wonderful job guys.
The screenshots look great, specially the sunset ones :-)
I'm really looking forward to getting into one of those helis.
ObmaR - January 2, 2008 07:12 PM (GMT)
I have tried the doorway seating configuration but it is pointless as there is a limitation in ArmA that does not let troops use their weapons. To do that I have to "mount" weapons on the heli which does not look right when there is no troops onboard. I have added 2 stretchers for wounded to lay in on the CASEVAC config Puma. If this limitation is removed in ArmAII I will add the doorway seating config

Only MAG gunners would be shooting from a helicopter. The FN-FAL ejects rounds upwards, which means they could be sucked into the main or tail rotor, which could cause a rotor failure. Anyway, let's hope this can be fixed in ArmA II. I will ask some people. :)

Ps. So what did everybody get for Christmas then? ( ...besides a hangover :P )
-=69th=-BuLLeT - January 3, 2008 08:43 AM (GMT)
Agreed, good work OuMatroos!
ObmaR - January 4, 2008 02:53 AM (GMT)
Ok guys after so many requests where made, I have added the seating positions to the Puma doorway (riding shotgun) the troops can not fire weapons from heli (ArmA limitation) while being transported. The CASEVAC Puma transports 1 pilot, 9 troops and 2 wounded. You can now also heal at the helicopter.
The FIREFORCE Puma transports 1 pilot, 1 copilot, 1 Gunner (FNMAG) and 10 troops.

This will add a little bit of realism to movie and missionmaking. I could only fit 2 troops on either side, 3 troops just looks too squashed. I must say it does look better. :D
Vorster - January 4, 2008 03:43 AM (GMT)
Forget about the firing Obmar. These shots are fricking awesome. Got that nugget feeling all over agian.
Ou Matroos - January 4, 2008 05:58 AM (GMT)

Your Vote would be appreciated ;)
Benoist - January 22, 2008 01:02 PM (GMT)
I'll vote, but make it worth!
It was a good idea to ask for RHS' Hinds. Despite that they are form OFP, it's are hardly noticeable because they are very well done.
steele6 - January 22, 2008 03:53 PM (GMT)
the screens are fantastic, good idea to reskin the hind, getting less work off your back. maybe do this to other or tanks or jeeps that are available already from the other community stuff or BIS
Ou Matroos - January 24, 2008 06:32 PM (GMT)

ObmaR - February 25, 2008 05:17 AM (GMT)
Really like the screens, I am busy with our weapons pack and making some units (32 Btn, SAI Infantry and SWAPO). I will release them end of March after Beta testing then I want to see even better shots, will also release an African extras pack (Herero Huts, Kraals, shacks etc) which can be used in Sahrani for mission making in the meantime while we complete our Island.
steele6 - February 25, 2008 02:09 PM (GMT)
Thats great news fella!. :D those pics look good. will create some of my own soon :)
