Title: Big Thanks, and a Question

BigDuke6 - November 9, 2007 03:11 AM (GMT)
Finally had a chance to sit and write a thank you post to the team. Most African conflicts are highly overlooked by combat sim developers, and I salute you for this endeavour. There are a great many tales of heroism and self sacrifice embedded in these histories. It's regrettable that none of them get told here in the U.S. outside of formal military studies. Hardly anyone here has ever even heard of the Border War. Hopefully, this mod will not only provide for some good simming, but will stimulate a desire to learn more by its users.

Now for my question. Do you have any plans to include the Rhodesian conflict ('72-'79) or portions of it?

Thank you again,

Gerard

I would have loved to make a presentation of the Rhodesian Bush War, unfortunately we do not have enough modelers and due to the amount of work involved as well as this being done as a hoby and in our spare time. We will not be able to make this possible. We are also running behind schedule and at this rate we will only be releasing the Main Mod for the ArmA II platform. This is really only a testing ground for modeling and testing scripting ideas. Note that in total we have been busy with this project for 3 years now and are far from nearing completion. The bulk of our work will only be seen in ArmA II when it is released next year

Quite understandable, and like I said, I'm very appreciative of your efforts. I'm starting to tinker with the mission editor, and trying to learn the scripts usage. If I reach a decent level of proficiency, I'd be more than willing to lend a hand if needed. So far I've managed to record a couple of movies after setting up some simple scenarios and using some various camera scripts. Next I'd like to learn how to incorporate the cut-scenes into my missions. It's definitely a fun hobby, and a labor of love. ;)

Again, thanks for all the hard work.

Yea its a great game and what really attracts me is the practically unlimited scope we have with the modding. The only limits is really what we can learn and our skills. So keep practicing and looking forward to a few missions from you...

Yeah absolutely. The ability to include armor, air, and support assets either integral or on-call is what really drew me to this sim. It's so much better than those "Lone Wolf" games out there. It's funny, but after all these years and God knows how many PC upgrades, I still have pretty much the same 3 games. Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear/Urban Ops, Ghost Recon 1/Desert Siege, and now ArmA. When ArmA 2 comes out, I think I'll be all set for another 10 years.

I'm actually working on a small skirmish using your Beta mods. I'll give a head's up when it's done.
