TV Week: Tomboy in Love

Ever since she can remember, Rachel's been one of the boys, but she finds herself transforming from tomboy to love-struck teen when she falls for Mike!
With Fly (Sophie Luck) and Simmo (Martin Lynes) heading off to the pro-surfing competition, the Solar Blue students are free to surf. Trouble is, there are no waves. At a loose end, Rachel (Taryn Marler) tells Mike (James Sorensen) about a place in the mountains where they can abseil. When Mike expresses interest, Rachel asks Jilly (Liz Burch) if they can go. Surprisingly, Jilly agrees - if they all go. So much for Rachel's plans for a romantic getaway!
Arriving at the mountains the following day, Rachel asks Mike to collect water with her from a nearby stream.
"You're definitely not like other girls," he tells her.
"That was a compliment," he adds to clarify himself.
Convinced her feelings are reciprocated, Rachel impulsively kisses him, but is hurt and confused when a shocked Mike beats a hasty retreat.
Later, a flustered Rachel tries to teach the group to abseil, but her rope gets caught in a tree and she's left hanging halfway down the cliff face!
Ignoring Mike's protests, Brooke (Lesley Anne Mitchell) abseils down to free Rachel's rope. But Brooke loses her grip and is thrown against the cliff face, hurting her wrist.
Luckily, Mike and Rachel eventually guide her to safety, but Rachel realises Mike's concern for Brooke goes far beyond friendship.

It surprised me. They had next to nothing on the first series when it was airing. Maybe they've finally realised how popular it is.
