July 25 (1700 hrs) Seven low-intensity serial blasts shook IT city of Bangalore on Friday killing a woman and injuring several others.

The first explosion took place at Madivala at 1345 hrs and in a span of fifteen minutes, six blasts rocked areas of Adugodi, Koramangla, Hosur Road, Nayandahalli and Shivaji Nagar on Mysore Road.

Shopkeepers immediately downed the shutters as a precautionary measure, as panic gripped the entire city.

Police have beefed up security and cities like Delhi, Mumbai have been put on high alert.
Those injured have been rushed to nearby hospitals.

Elaborating on the modus operandi, the Police Commissioner Shankar Bidri said that timer devices were used to trigger explosion. He added that each explosion had the intensity of two hand grenades.

One blast took place near tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi's residence damaging window panes of his house.

Forensic experts and bomb disposal squads have reached the spots.

The entire area where the blasts took place has been cordoned off and sniffer dogs were pressed into service. Mobile networks were jammed as a precautionary measure.

As soon as the news of the blasts spread people started leaving offices and rushed back home leading to traffic snarls.

This is the second time Bangalore has been targeted by the terrorists. The Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc) was attacked a few years ago.

People should stay put and go along with daily norm in situations like this. terrorists thrive off of terror, but if we don't act terrified their acts become useless.
