What is the estimated time frame on the move? Is all the funding there? How will donaters be reconized for the contributions?

No recognition will be given, this decision was made by me, Baron and the mods. All of agree that we should not alter a member's status in the community because of a donation. The donations are there to help the community as a whole and not to help any individuals.

A person that for many reasons cannot donate may end up feeling mistreated or unimportant and a person that donated may try to use that "status" for their benifit.

We do not want such things to happen.

I'm not sure if I'm getting this through well enough, I suck at explanations when politics are involved. Perhaps PPR or Ernir could shed more light if needed....they are really good at it :P

Will the new forum system be similar to this one, or will there be a completely different code for it? If that makes sense. I didn't read through the links in the announcement, so if this is answered in there I'm sorry :(


I can see one of two things happening. Invisionfree giving you their code to use through a different domain (which I think is what is going to happen, if I read correctly) or you host a forum code seperately on some server somewhere.

InvisionPowerServices is the company that provides liscences to Invision Power Boards. I'm getting one of those liscences for a year and getting an independant forum of our own hosted. The Domain will be ours and the boards will be ours.

It'll be a totally new version of the same software used by invisionfree but invisionfree will have nothing to do with it.

One small question. In the other sticky it said the move was taking place on April the 1st. Does that mean that is the date you get the domain and begin to set things up or is it the day we all move over?

I believe I can answer this question, They need some time to get the mods set up and arranged before we move, so it's us who will be moving on April 1st, I believe they're already moved.

Nope. We haven't.

April 1st is the date because that's when the already-purchased ad removal expires. The exact "ally'all" move date depends on how long it takes GTA/us to configure the new forum.

So long as we keep our hard earned post counts :P

That's about right. As far as I can tell, it's going to be pretty much the same but with more features, no ads (except the ones we put on to make cash), and a functional search feature. Yay!

And a sensible domain.

This forum will not be closed anytime soon, so you can take a look at the pretty count here anytime you like.
