LINKWhile the band has some AMAZING songs, they also have a lot of crap. Let us hope that none of are contestants pick the crap. For example, while ACE’S falsetto may be painful, that doesn’t mean he should sing “Chinese Torture.”
This week is going to test our singers as much as Stevie night did, if not more so. Freddie Mercury has an incredible range and a crazy falsetto.
Which leaves us with the rest of our bunch… I have faith in the ability of Katharine and Paris finding a song to suit their abilities. However, I think there is a chance for both of them to falter big time. Ace, Kellie, and Bucky are going to absolutely butcher whatever song they choose. There is just no way around it. Actually, I think Bucky has the best chance to do well out of the three, because there’s a couple rougher easy songs to pick. Ace will go big for some falsetto and fail, and Kellie will again be forced to sing out of her one genre comfort zone, which as we’ve seen is horrifying!
QUEEN SONGS THAT SHOULD NOT BE SUNG ON AI:(1) Tie Your Mother Down- Chris should sing this while giving his evil eye
(2) Flash- Ace believing he was a super hero complete with cape, very entertaining
(3) Fat Bottomed Girls- though I swear Mandisa could have sang this with gusto and it would have been priceless!
**(4) Another One Bites the Dust- if a person sang this and then got eliminated it would possibly make my whole life!
**(5) Bicycle Race- For some reason Kelly singing this is just priceless to me, while possibly pantomiming riding a bike
(6) Killer Queen- If they failed to sing this well, all of us critiques would be able to say they sure did Kill Queen, and it really doesn’t show much range
(7) We Will Rock You- Chris should refrain from thinking this is a good choice, it has the same amount of notes that “What If” did, which is like four.

You may now wonder if there is anything left for our idols to sing. Don’t worry! Queen has just as many awesome songs as they do absurd and/or awful songs! Do not listen to those who say Queen has hundreds of songs in their repertoire for the contestants to sing. They do have hundreds of song, but certainly not all of them are worthy of showing up.

Okay, so that is 19 song choices for 8 people! Plenty of choices without them having to pick anything horrible. Let’s delve into who should or would sing what!
CHRIS: I really think Chris should do well this week, but I think he should keep trying to stretch himself and avoid the desire to stick with something easy like “We Will Rock You.” I mean, can he do falsetto? Now’s the best time for us to find out!
Should sing:
-“Somebody to Love”- This would be so different and stretch Chris so much!
-“Headlong”- If he wanted to stay predictable, this is the way to go. This song is very rock.
KATHARINE: I do not feel safe enough with her voice to guarantee her an easy pass this week. I have a voice similar to Katharine’s and I would have to work harder this week than any of the others so far, and I think it will end up the same for Kat. I think she can pull it off though!
Should Sing:
-Crazy Little Thing Called Love- Fantasia didn’t own this enough to make it untouchable. I think Kat could show us a little more of her bluesy vocals.
-Under Pressure- Joss Stone covers this, and Kat might be smart to pull a Chris and cover her arrangement!
-The Show Must Go On- This is a very dramatic song, but I think it will play to Kat’s musical theatre strengths vocally
TAYLOR: I feel most confident in Taylor and Elliott. I think Taylor will find a song he can really shine on vocally, and he better, because he’s had a couple uneventful weeks!!!
Should sing:
-“Save Me”- Taylor’s voice would be awesome on this, but it is a ballad, and I wonder if he needs to go crazy this week.
-“I Want to Break Free”- I think this would be fun and memorable.
-“Friends Will be Friends”- a power ballad, don’t know if he should go there
-“Stone Cold Crazy”- the Taylor we grew to love or loathe would be BACK!
ACE: Sheesh. I just don’t know. Rumer has it, that SOMEONE is singing Bohemian Rhapsody, let us pray it is not Ace! He already has enough Constantine comparisons!
Should Sing:
-“Play the Game” He’ll bust out his falsetto as usual.
BUCKY: I’m stinkin’ worried about this guy as well….
Should Sing:
-“I Want it All”
-“You’re My Best Friend”
-“One Vision”
KELLIE: And this week should destroy her! (sorry Kellie fans)
Should sing:
-“It’s a Hard Life”- she might as well add a sob story to this week
-“One Vision”- could be easily countrified
PARIS: I have no idea what exactly she’ll do…..but she needs to have fun this week, no big ballads!!!
Should sing:
-Crazy Little Thing Called Love- she needs this performance right now more than Kat does, Kat had fun last week…
-The Show Must Go On
-We are the Champions- though I think she should try to have fun
ELLIOTT: The more Queen I listened to and relistened to from my cds, the more I realized I think Elliott could sing any of them, which is when I realized I have possibly reached the point of obsession, which means Elliott has joined the ranks of Judy Garland, Kelly Clarkson, and Bon Jovi.
Should Sing:
-“Don’t Stop Me Now”- up-tempo, he could rock it out!
-“Save Me”- very relevant, considering what happened last week!
-“Somebody to Love”- I think this could be positively incredible!
As you can see, I did not make a guess at who is singing Bohemian Rhapsody. There are rumors that the producers “strongly suggested” Elliott sing it. I am hoping that is not true, but somebody has to sing it. I’m hoping it’s Kellie. Hehe….
