LINKAce Young is up next and he is singing Tonight I Wanna Cry by Keith Urban. Kenny says that Ace chose the best song for his style out of all of the contestants.
After only a line or two, I see where Kenny is coming from; this is definitely a perfect song for Ace. He sings the song well but not outstanding. I like that he gave it a modern feel and I especially liked hearing his falsetto at the end. I know Ace isn't known for his power but I know he has more than he is showing us. I just wish he would be a little more aggressive and risky with his arrangements.
Randy tells Ace the ending falsetto was nice but that the song was boring. Paula says Ace chose the right song and she liked his contemporary take on the song. Simon says Ace hasn't chosen the right songs over the past few weeks but that tonight he did. He also says he had a good night and it was very good.
I think the bottom three this week SHOULD be Kellie, Bucky and Taylor with Bucky going home. These three should have had the easiest time with this theme and all were shaky and not their best. I expected much better things from all three.
I think the bottom three WILL be Ace, Katharine and Bucky with Ace going home. I've said week after week that I actually really like Ace and I think he has major potential. We are at the point now though where it's time to stop talking about potential. We need to be seeing it and Ace has been falling just short for the past few weeks. Even though he chose a great song this week and sang it very nicely, I think he will get lost in the crowd amongst the more popular but less talented contestants.
