The First Big Shock
Ryan gets serious. It’s time for the elimination part of the show and he’s looking for the three people with the lowest number of votes.

Ace sang Do I Do. Randy liked his energy, Paula loved his spirit and Simon thought it was a bit manic. Kevin sang Part Time Lover. Randy liked his moves (and make-up?) Paula liked his unique style but Simon called the performance appalling. One of them is in the bottom three and it’s…Ace? Ace is the picture of seriousness as he joins Ryan center stage but you just know he’s thinking Huh? Kev got more votes than me?

The audience boos loudly as Paula shakes her head. She doesn’t understand why Ace is standing there. Randy is shocked; it wasn’t the best performance but lots of people were worse. Simon says he’s surprised but it’s a wake-up call for Ace to chose bettah songs and perform bettah. Gee, glad you could pinpoint the problem for us Simon.

Melissa Waves Bye-Bye
When we return Ryan tells Ace he can take a seat because he’s safe. A chastened Ace bows and blows kisses to the audience as he returns to the bench. Kevin and Paris knock fists with him. He takes several deep breaths and refuses to smile even as Ryan encourages him to relax. He looks like he wants to check his shorts and I feel a little sorry for him. It must be humbling to realize Kevin is a bigger sex symbol than he is, and I predict Ace will bring his performances up a notch and be safe for the next few weeks, anyway.
