Chris and Simon got into a testy exchange about whether sounding ''nasally'' is, in fact, a deliberate vocal style. Is it?
Kimberley: I guess it is a style. I guess you find it a lot in country music; there's a lot of [country] singers who sing that way. But I think Chris — it's something he needs to work on if he's going to be a better singer.
Ace: That's Simon's opinion, but I know there are a lot of girls out there who love to hear Chris sing. ''Nasal'' is a way to project your voice, but I would call it a timbre [rather than a style], and Chris is definitely known for that timbre.
Amy: Not technically, no. I mean, there are others who sing more through their nasal cavity, but it's not a style that people desire, like ''I'm going to be the nasally-est singer there is!'' It's probably a stylistic choice, but not an overall style, like, ''I'm the nasal singer!'' [Laughs]
