TAMPA -- The 15th annual Baseball for Kids Weekend officially began Saturday evening at the A La Carte Pavilion. Hall of Famer Wade Boggs welcomed about 450 guests to the kickoff fundraising dinner....

Among the Hall of Famers attending the dinner were Gary Carter, Bob Feller, Jim Palmer and Gaylord Perry. Celebrities attending included country musician Daniel Lee Martin and American Idol contestant Ace Young....

After the formal program, Martin and Young got the guests out on the dance floor as they sang a few tunes, and former player Mudcat Grant and a couple of the military all-stars joined in for renditions of songs such as "Ride Sally Ride" and "Sweet Home Alabama" to entertain the guests.
