Article LinkLast weekend was a gloomy, gray-skied one in Houston, and I stood around on Saturday afternoon feeling more defeated by the moment.
I was thinking that I'd reached the end of the line and that perhaps it was time to consider a new hobby and begin an attempt to rescue myself from my sad spiral into the pathetic depths of Ace Young fanaticism.
And then, low and behold, up rode my knight in shining armor on his motorized scooter, alongside everyone's favorite bald rocker.
The remarkably close duo that is Ace Young and Chris Daughtry, collectively dubbed by the media as “Chrace,” can only be truly appreciated when witnessed face to face in all its hot and talented glory.
I wasn't the biggest Chris Daughtry pusher this season, but you grow to appreciate these things. Plus, he's a nice guy.
Anyway, this is about Ace right now.
Here's a fun question. Have you ever been a completely competent, fully functioning, physically capable adult at one moment, and had your legs feel like slippery, wet noodles on an electric fence the next?
Oh boy, I didn't see that new experience coming.
I've met some recognizables in my day, though not any whose names I wouldn't be embarrassed to mention. And I pride myself in being able to carry on around them without yelping, stuttering or talking like a complete schoolgirl - because I am the type to think that I am just as cool as any celebrity whose presence I may find myself in.
And this was mostly the case here, too.
Except I liken the physical reaction from eye contact with this boy to being hit by a brick to the face. It's completely unexpected, you start seeing stars and birds and its hard to stand up without holding on to something because your legs are shaking.
Luckily, after smacking the boy with a rolled up newspaper and sharing a laugh over the visibly jittery condition of my legs, I was somewhat able to calm them down.
And now I've got my own beautifully autographed copy of “Idol Watch” to frame and beam with pride over.
I could carry on in vivid detail of this encounter, but there just aren't enough hours in the day.
