Description: Post any info you hear in this thread!

Found some posts from Elvio of Uncle Plum at AYN:

He's doing one song with a legendary song writer but I can't say who.

Some info from Elvio:

We are working on tracks that will be on the cd. Desmond Child is doing 1 song for Ace. As far as collaborations with Hip Hop artists/rappers I think that will be separate from his cd. It would probably confuse people as to what genre he's trying to fill if there's "Scattered" then a rap tune and then an R&B tune on the same record. It's probably important to establish Ace's sound first and foremost.

Ace really likes Scattered and likes that vibe. He wants it to be funky, feel like a live band, and he wants it to be fun. As far as the record deal?? Everything you've read is rumor. He hasn't signed a deal, however, he's been contacted by almost all of the major labels. It's a matter of choosing the one that will let him keep his creative freedom and work the hardest to promote him. To be honest, he doesn't even need a record deal. Think about it. Record companies promote artists and get them out to the public so that people buy records. They also call the shots and often times strip an artist of his creativity and he becomes a puppet. Ace has probably over 10 million fans from just being on American Idol. Would you guys still buy his album if he wasn't signed?? YES of course!! He will sign with a label once the bidding war starts and he finds out who's gonna work the hardest for him. They're calling him non-stop!! No worries, he's a smart guy and Ryan is also watching his back and fielding offers.

Do you know what's great about all of this?? It's the fact that you are all providing educated responses and concerns that make a lot of sense. Again, the highrollers are no joke!! I wouldn't worry too much about his record deal situation. He will sign with a major label if and only if they work hard for him and allow him to be Ace and not some fabricated generic artist. The more buzz Ace can create on his own the more stock he'll have with the labels. If you can sell 200,000 copies of your cd on your own, every label in the country will want you. How about the artists on major labels who don't sell anything and end up getting dropped?? I have many friends who were signed by majors and got dropped before the album came out. I had a conversation with another idol that I can't name and this person was leaning toward signing a deal with a small independent label. Why?? Because they'll focus entirely on that artist and give that person a lot of attention. If Ace signs with the same label that signed a bunch of other idols what do you think will happen?? Especially after the way he was treated on the show!! Ace is an extremely intelligent person and he's got the support of his brother and management team. I'm confident that he'll make the right decisions. I have no say in this!! I just write and produce songs with him

Seems like Elvio may have been chastised for saying too much. LOL

The latest as told at AYN:

Elvio posts from the AI boards. It sounds like this may be the last we hear from him. But I hope not.

I apologize for the confusion in regards to these quotes. Ace will get a deal with a major label!! It's inevitable! I was talking back and forth with friends about people who've had bad experiences with record companies and how the industry has changed. My band did a showcase for 3 major labels and we learned a lot about what record companies want. One of the points that was made was the fact that if you sell a ton of records and create a buzz on your own, without anyone's help, every major label will want you. I wasn't trying to make you think Ace is not going to sign with a major. I have no idea what he's going to do!! I know that he and Ryan are very smart and will do what's best for Ace. I forget that when I post with friends everyone reads and interprets things differently. I won't discuss any business matters in the future and I apologize for any confusion that I caused. Ace and I are creating some great music that we feel good about and I know he can't wait to share it with everyone. It's remarkable how great the highrollers are and how supportive you've been. Thanks

I honestly don't know but I do know that major labels are very interested in him and he and his management team will make the right decision. I need to stay away from these forums!!! I don't want to confuse anyone! I'm just a songwriter/producer

Not completely done I guess! LOL From AYN:

From Elvio:

Everything Ace sings will have a soul/r&b vibe, however, the music is more of a live band feel. Ace is a soulfull singer and he's not about to change that. Don't worry!!! Ace wrote Scattered with me and the end product is a collaborative effort. This album is NOT heavy rock. I promise. It's funky, soulfull, pop rock. Everything you love about Ace's singing will definitely be featured on his album. His falsetto, his power, his range.....it's all going to be there.

For the record, I'd love Ace to sign with a major label.....one that will spend a lot of time and energy into putting together a huge marketing campaign for him. Ace needs to be a top priority at whatever label he goes with. Again, I have no idea what he's going to do. Here's some math.

Quote:
ooops. Forget the whole math thing. I'm out. So in conclusion, Ace will sign with a label soon I'm sure, his music is soulful, it showcases his vocal abilities, and YES he likes it and he's being true to what he loves as an artist/musician. Peace.

As long as he gets to do the CD the way he wants it, I'll be happy! :)

AceOfHearts - August 24, 2006 11:01 PM (GMT)
Same here. Ace is a smart guy who knows what he wants and I'm sure he will sign with the best label for him, one who lets him be Ace. Can't wait to hear the end result! I hope we don't have to wait forever. :ace8:

Duff posted at the AI boards:

Don't worry, Ace will be fine Highrollers. He is one of the most recognizable people in the media right now, and he'll be just fine. I'm not sure when he's going to announce anything, but it's going to be HUGE!

Duff talks as much if not MORE than Elvio does. If they aren't careful, they're BOTH gonna end up in trouble with the family.

You may be right! :hitsfan:I was wondering about that.

I think the only one in the family- thats in the spotlight- thats been TOTALLY tigh-lipped about EVERYTHING is Ryan. Ryan would make a fantastic prisoner under torture..he'd rather DIE, it seems, than say ANYTHING.

:giggle: Sounds like you think that's admirable but you wish he'd tell ya stuff. :roflmao:
