Title: AceOfDiamonds goes to St. Louis!!

AceOfDiamonds - August 15, 2006 04:00 PM (GMT)
I finally saw my first AI5 Tour show! All in all, a very good time. My biggest disappointments: Did not meet Ace (only had time to arrive at show time and had to leave immediately after) and -- no Bucky Covington. Wahhhh.

Got there at 10 minutes to 7PM so just hit the ladies' room and went in. Mandisa was up first. She was pretty good, not great IMO. Then Ace came out to sing with her. Keep in mind -- I really did not "see" Ace because I was videotaping his performances. They sounded nice together but I kept the camera on Ace (duh!). Then Ace was on his own and he sang "Father Figure" first, then "Harder To Breathe". On HTB he was all over the stage. One time he moved so fast across the stage, I could not follow him with the camera and lost him momentarily. LOL He does a great head bang!! Ace clearly loves to be on the stage. He was constantly waving to people in the crowd. There was a lady several rows in front of me I wanted to shoot. It seemed like every really good part of FF, she stood up and blocked the shot. It was all I could do to stay silent since I knew my words would pick up on the camera. LOL At least his gorgeous face was not blocked by her. After Ace, we got Lisa, Paris, and Kelly, but no Bucky. (Sorry - still upset about that!). Lisa sang really well. Paris lost some vocals because of all the dancing she was doing, but she was fun. Kellie looked cute in the shorter hair.

In the second half, Chris started things off. The crowd went insane for him. Far and away the most response so far that night. He was good but I was not into him for some reason. I sat through most of his set. Elliott joined him for a duet then went into his set. He was really good. Katherine sang 2 songs - looked beautiful and sang well. Then Taylor came out and the place went crazy. He was a blast. I was surprised to enjoy him so much.

The encores ended the show and I have to say, it was great.

At the intermission, I was honored to meet both Kay and Jay Young. They are lovely people. We talked about the beanie project we are doing here at Ace High. They are so thrilled that we are doing this for Ace and for The Children's Hospital of Denver. I have to take a moment to remind you to buy a beanie if you haven't already. They sincerely appreciate the fans helping out.

That's my story. I'm going again this weekend and will have more time to talk to people. I'll report on that when I'm back.

Thanks for reading! If you have gone, I'd love to hear your recap.
